Ha, there's that too? Lin Mo looked at the red-haired figure lying on the ground, and any fleeting pity he had for her completely vanished.
Ha, there's that too?
Lin Mo looked at the red-haired figure lying on the ground, and any fleeting pity he had for her completely vanished.
"So what should I do? Just step over her… isn't that kind of rude?" Lin Mo pondered aloud.
Xu Wanxue didn't think much of it and casually replied, "Don't worry. She'll be fine in a moment."
Lin Mo shifted his gaze, watching as Xu Wanxue's eyes lit up with a soft blue glow—she had linked into the villa's internal Net.
She hadn't been outside all day, wearing only a loose nightgown. Now, as she nestled into Lin Mo's arms, her pale shoulders and delicate collarbones were exposed.
Just as Lin Mo was wondering what she was doing, he suddenly heard mechanical whirring.
Turning his head, he saw a cleaning bot rolling out from the storage room. Its tank-like treads made faint electronic sounds as it approached.
"Trash disposal in progress. Trash disposal in progress."
Singing its little tune, the robot followed its preset routine, arriving in front of the sleeping beauty. A scoop deployed from its underside, and thanks to its high torque motors, it effortlessly handled the woman's full weight.
Within moments, the hallway to the bedroom was cleared, and the sleeping beauty didn't stir. Her sleep quality impressed Lin Mo.
"Let's go," Xu Wanxue prompted her "mount."
Lin Mo stepped forward and carried her into her bedroom. He gently laid her on the bed and covered her with a blanket.
"I'm going back to work tomorrow. Could you get up early and make breakfast?"
Just as Lin Mo turned to leave, Xu Wanxue spoke, her eyes full of quiet hope.
Like he could say no?
He always tried his best to meet his sister's requests.
"Sure," he answered simply. Reaching the doorway, he turned and said softly, "Sleep early."
Back in his room, Lin Mo washed up, changed into pajamas, and lay on his bed with the simulator headband in hand.
He glanced at the clock: 23:12.
Yeah, it was late. He usually got home before 10 PM.
Still, today had been productive.
He had completed a rescue gig, gotten familiar with Maine's crew, and even picked up another commission.
The only trouble was—it was set for Saturday. He'd probably need to skip class or request leave...
Thinking about it made him feel a little guilty—but only for a moment.
Not only had he completed the rescue, but he had also accepted a 1 eddie job to wipe out an entire Scavenger crew!
One eddie. An entire Scav gang. Anyone who heard about it would be floored.
Once the aftermath of the event spread, Mr. Shadow's name would ripple through the ranks of Night City's edgerunners.
He even wondered—was that enough to qualify for access to the Afterlife now?
Reflecting on the day and finding no missteps, Lin Mo put on the simulator headset.
The familiar digital cascade filled his vision as the simulation for the next day loaded:
[Simulation Start]
Morning: You actually woke up early. Upon leaving your room, you saw the red-haired implant specialist still passed out on the floor.
Feeling a pang of guilt, you covered her with a blanket.
The cleaning bot had already cleared the house. You patiently made breakfast and placed it in the warming cabinet for your sister and the redhead.
You went to school. At dawn, you piloted the Stone Sword to a super-skyscraper parking lot.
This was David's home. You called him, and the two of you rode to school together.
At the corporate plaza, you ran into the white-haired netrunner girl again. Some friction occurred, but class was starting, so you dragged David back.
The class was dull: history. An AI droned on about Arasaka Corporation's legacy. You didn't care.
After class, it was already 6 PM. You walked David home. You talked a lot.
David, sitting in the passenger seat, seemed lost in thought.
Eventually, the car parked at the super-skyscraper. David went up quietly.
You remained in the car, watching him disappear into the elevator. You didn't move for a long time.
Finally, you drove away—only to be blocked by a gang.
Just a bunch of nobodies...
You returned home unscathed, not a drop of blood on you.
You couldn't help but think: ever since getting into the game, you've killed more people than cockroaches.
[Simulation Rating: Mentor]
[Simulation Rewards: David's Jacket (Legendary), +1 Attribute Point]
Seeing the rewards, Lin Mo was momentarily confused.
The attribute point was fine. After all, he had likely been in a minor combat scenario during the sim.
But David's Jacket? And Legendary at that?
Surprised and curious, Lin Mo extracted the jacket from the database. A yellow outerwear appeared in his hands.
He rubbed the fabric. It had a plasticky texture but felt thick—not some cheap throwaway.
The yellow jacket had white stripes. The stiff collar glowed with a faint blue tint, likely due to luminescent threads. Under the room lights, it reflected like plastic, almost shimmering.
"Wait... isn't this what his mom was wearing? Looks like the uniform for a technician at the Night City Medical Center."
Lin Mo murmured, recalling his meeting with Gloria, David's mother, who wore a jacket just like this.
The only difference—his jacket had a strange green symbol painted on the back.
But coming from the simulator, it had to be good. Anything tagged Legendary couldn't be worse than his old Wolf School Jacket.
And that old thing had been with him for years—without ever being labeled legendary.
Resolved, Lin Mo grabbed his Black Unicorn katana and gently dragged it across the jacket.
Nothing happened.
The blade—known for cutting through anything—left not a scratch.
"Damn… this really is a legendary piece of armor," Lin Mo muttered in awe.
[David's Jacket – Legendary]
Damn... why does it sound like a relic from a dead man?
Not just Cyberpunk. So many games used this naming pattern—So-and-so's Sunglasses, So-and-so's Pants, Shoes...
And those "so-and-sos" were rarely nobodies.
David... you're definitely showing up in a future DLC, Lin Mo thought with conviction.
As for the remaining attribute point, he wasn't in a rush to allocate it. Better to save it for later.
Now that he was finally home, Lin Mo took a moment to check his current attributes.
[Stats: Body 6, Reflexes 11, Technical Ability 3, Intelligence 4, Cool 6]
As expected, the implants had boosted his stats.
Kerenzikov, the reflex booster, had pushed his reflexes over the human limit.
The Dense Organic Bone and Synthetic Reinforced Muscle—though only partially installed—had already boosted his Body stat.
As for Tech and Intelligence... well, he wasn't really relying on those.
What surprised him was the increase in Cool.
After thinking it over, he figured it must be from all the killing. Enough bloodshed and high-stress situations had probably toughened his mind.
"A point in Cool was a nice bonus. And man, what a day it's been."
He didn't plan on staying up. Pulling his giant plushie close, the smart home system dimmed the lights to sleep mode.
A long, chaotic day came to a peaceful end.
