It was a busy night in Soto City. Vendors yelled their offers and advertised their products to those who were willing to listen.
Xiao Wu leaned down, looking at some beautifully decorated flowers on the sidewalk.
"Xiao Wu, keep up. Don't get lost" Tang San warned Xiao Wu.
"I'm just looking." Xiao Wu said playfully before standing straight and walking quickly to follow the group.
"Your classroom for today will be the place where all soul master gather. The most iconic symbol of Soto City, Soto Soul Colosseum." Flender said as he looked back at his students with his hands clasped behind his back.
The building was massive, filled with lights and people. The architecture was amazing and worthy of being the symbol of the city.
Tang San, Xiao Wu and Ying Xuan stared in awe. Even Liu Yan couldn't help be impressed.
"Even without technological advancements, they could build such structures. I'm impressed." Liu Yan thought before continuing to listen to Flender.
"The colosseum, a place where soul masters would gather. Going up in the battle ranks brings you fame and fortune. It brings the most important aspect of a soul master. Fighting spirit." Flender continued. His explanation had given some inspiration to the new students.
"Dean, it's the first day of class. Why is the class so serious?" Dai MuBai couldn't help but ask, even he did not go to the colosseum on his first day.
"Monster's have a monster's way of training. This helps prepare you for fighting soul masters when you graduate." Though it might seem unreasonable, it made senses in this dangerous world.
"Head inside and apply for a fight. The fees are ten gold soul coins. Upon registering, you will have an iron fighting badge. When you win a match, you get one point. When you lose a match, you lose a point." Flender continued.
"When you gain a hundred points, you will automatically have your fighting badge upgraded. The fighting badges go from the lowest, being iron, to copper, silver, gold, violet gold, sapphire, ruby and diamond as the highest."
"You will be coming here every night, you only need to have one thing in mind, training and winning. Without a silver fighting badge, don't even think about graduating." Flender said ruthlessly.
"It's only the third level, not that hard" Xiao Wu said.
Flender approached a pillar and touched it. "Engraved on this pillars are the names of the soul masters who perished here." Flender said solemnly.
"This is not a game. Remember that. Dai MuBai, you will take care of the rest." Flender ordered before leaving.
"There are three types of fights. One on one. Two on two and group battles. Go ahead register" Dai MuBai gestured them inside.
While they all queued up, Liu Yan muttered to himself about the other major mistakes of soul land. Trying to recount them.
Without a phone to recheck the original source, he had a hard tine remembering twenty four years of his past life after experiencing thirteen years in his current life.
"LiYan, you're muttering to yourself again." Ying Xuan said to Liu Yan. Liu Yan had always been muttering to himself once a week about mistakes. She didn't understand it though, the things he said seemed fake or unrelated to him at all.
"Oh, sorry… bad habit" he mustered a fake embarrassed smile while scratching the back of his head.
Tang San and Xiao Wu had gone down for their first match.
Ying Xuan and Liu Yan also registered as a duo and solo fighting badges.
"Phoenix hand duo, please head to arena number eight" the intercom sounded as they began heading to the arena mentioned.
"Welcome everyone to another fight between soul masters! Tonight we have our infamous Frost Fire duo! With their unbeaten eight battle winstreak!" The host announced as a pair of twin brothers, one wearing white and the other wearing red.
"And tonight, they will face a newly registered duo! The phoenix hand duo! Will the twins continue their undefeated win streak! Or will this new duo surprise us. Soul masters, get ready!" The host announced as the spectators got more and more excited and cheered.
Liu Yan and Ying Xuan however were at a disadvantage, due to Liu Yan being a Soul elder. The teams they would face were all goong to be soul elder teams, meaning for now, the enemy had six soul skills while they had five soul skills in total.
"First soul skill: fire blast!" The brother dressed in red named Chi Yan yelled as he punched st the direction of Liu Yan and Ying Xuan, flames erupted and shot straight at them.
Liu Yan immediately used his second soul skill forming three crystal shields, one immediately shatteres, after colliding with the flames.
Crack, Stomp
Liu Yan stomps on the ground as a crystal pillar emerges.
Bang
Upon being punched, the pillar flew straight at the brothers.
"Second soul skill: Frost touch!" The second brother charged and touched the pillar lightly. Freezing it as the Chi Yan punched it, shattering it.
They smirked, ready to strike again when suddenly.
The arena is filled with green mist, the brothers couldn't see through and locate the enemy. They had their backs facing each other, being ambushed would be bad.
A shadow covered the light on top of the arena, a gigantic crystal foot stomped down.
Ahhhh
The brothers yelled in unison as they used their third soul skill, enhancing their body as they attempted to lift the crystal foot that was trying to stomo on them.
Bang
Ying Xuan had appeared in their sight in the mist, using her crystal wings, she flew towards the brothers.
Both brothers were hit in the stomach with hard crystals. Coughing out saliva and sending them flying.
Crash
The brothers had just flew out of the arena boundaries.
A few seconds of silence later, the crowd began to cheer loudly.
"The pheonix hand duo has won!! They have proven their power while at a disadvantage. This might be the rise of a new powerful duo!" The host announced as the crowd cheered louder.
Liu Yan and Ying Xuan left the arena in a great mood. Victory in public matches were capable of lifting anyone's spirits.
They went to the resting room where their classmates remained while waiting for their individual matches.
"That was incredible, Ying Xuan!" Xiao Wu ran towards her when she entered.
Xiao Wu had always been amazed at how well Liu Yan and Ying Xuan were at coordinating attacks.
"Hehe, that was nothing. It was just us trusting each other" Ying Xuan smiled sweetly.
