Chapter 17 - An Upgrade

The Avengers had this underground complex locked down, but none of us really knew what we were walking into. You could almost taste the mix of nerves and excitement hanging in the air. I hung back a little, letting She-Hulk take point. Man, at first, I thought it was kind of annoying that she ordered me to follow her, but honestly, after a minute, I couldn't look away. She was something else—like this green powerhouse who owned the hallway with every step. Her silhouette was straight-up mesmerizing. She moved like the earth itself was trembling under her feet, this soft but serious shake. That skin-tight jumpsuit barely did her justice, hugging every curve and muscle like it was painted on. You could tell she was strong enough to wreck anyone who dared to cross her, no question.

Leading the pack was Tony Stark — Iron Man himself — cruising through in his usual cocky style. "D'Spayre's a slippery bastard," he said from inside his suit, voice smooth enough to sell you a lemon as if it were a Ferrari. "Keep your eyes peeled." His suit lights flickered on the cold stone walls, throwing creepy shadows that twisted around us. The only sounds were his metal boots clanging, the whir of his tech, and the heavy breathing of the rest of the crew.

I agreed with Stark — this wasn't going to be a cakewalk. D'Spayre was dangerous, and that Cosmic Cube he was carrying? Game changer. Reality-bending level power. But hey, I was new to the Avengers and hungry to prove I wasn't just some newbie. I wanted to show them what a real conqueror looks like.

Then we rounded a corner and there he was. D'Spayre looked like pure nightmare made flesh — twisted, pale, almost see-through, with these glowing red eyes that sent a chill down your spine. He held the Cosmic Cube like it was some precious keepsake, fingers wrapped around it like an old friend.

"Ah, the Avengers," he sneered, dripping with condescension. "How quaint."

His eyes flicked over us all like we were some strange collection of freaks. "Look at you. Captain America, Wolverine, Ms. Marvel, Luke Cage..." Then he fixed Jessica Drew with a creepy grin. "And Spider-Woman. How... interesting."

Yeah, he didn't even try to hide his obvious ogling of Jessica's ass. Honestly, I didn't blame him — I was feeling the adrenaline too, and damn if it didn't send a rush through me. How long had it been since a fight like this got my blood pumping?

Then he turned that same hungry look on me. "And what's this?" he taunted. "A new toy to corrupt?"

I didn't bother answering. The team moved in with everything they had. Iron Man took to the air, blasting non-stop. Cap raised his shield and Wolverine's claws gleamed, ready to shred. The fight exploded into a wild mess of noise — metal clanging, punches landing, angry growls, and sheer chaos.

But through it all, I couldn't take my eyes off She-Hulk. She was a force of nature, muscles flexing as she tore into D'Spayre like a green hurricane. Her breasts bounced with every punch, tight and firm, making my pulse race. I caught myself imagining her nipples straining against the fabric, how sensitive they'd be. Her pussy was hidden under that suit, sure, but I knew it was there, ready and waiting.

"Focus," I told myself. "Stick to Tony's plan. Hit hard, hit fast." I took a deep breath and braced myself. This was my moment.

My jeans — loose and flappy before — suddenly hugged my legs tight as I moved. The seams started groaning like they were about to blow. "Shit," I muttered, "if these rip, I'm toast." But the thrill of battle was too damn good to care.

Then I landed a solid punch right on D'Spayre's chest. He flew back like a ragdoll, crashing through the air with a boom that echoed through the cavern. The Cosmic Cube slipped from his grasp, glowing fiercely before hitting the ground with a thud.

Before anyone could grab it, D'Spayre screamed — a sound that tore through reality itself. The whole place warped and twisted. The walls rippled like liquid, turning into these messed-up kaleidoscopes of our worst fears and darkest thoughts. She-Hulk dropped to her knees, clutching her head, fighting to hold onto her sanity. Her heavy chest rose and fell in quick gasps, sweat glistening on her toned stomach.

I felt it too — the fear, the dread — but it didn't swallow me. Not this time. Fear was my game. I lived for it. I ruled over it. D'Spayre's little mind games? Child's play for someone like me.

There was one person unaffected: Echo. She stood firm despite the sonic chaos, her face calm and unshaken. Her black hair framed her like some dark halo, and she moved with a dancer's grace, every step and punch precise. No superpowers, just pure skill and instinct. Her suit hugged her curves tight, breasts bouncing just a bit, rear firm — a reminder she worked damn hard to keep up with the best.

At the height of D'Spayre's scream, Echo snatched up the Cosmic Cube with lightning speed, then tossed it to the one guy who could handle it — Dr. Strange. He caught it, eyes blazing, whispering spells with hands weaving magic like a maestro. The power radiated off him, muscles tensing as the air buzzed with energy.

"Echo, Conquest," Strange yelled through the noise, "buy me time."

So Echo and I turned back to D'Spayre. He was pissed about losing his precious toy but grinned wider, mocking us. "You think you can stop me? Mortals playing with cosmic powers? Cute."

I didn't waste a breath. Fists flew like Thor's hammer, pounding him hard. Echo was a blur, silent and deadly, her moves smooth and sharp like a trained assassin. She had no powers, but her skill was a weapon in itself.

D'Spayre fought back hard, shooting black energy bolts that sent us flying. For a second, fear hit me, but then adrenaline kicked in. This was the stuff heroes were made of.

I regained control mid-air, aiming to land next to Echo who was already coming down, wind knocked out of her. "Echo!" I called out, reaching for her.

Her eyes locked on me but she couldn't stop the fall. The world blurred in colors and noise — D'Spayre's scream still echoing — then—

I caught her. Arms around her waist, we crashed onto the hard stone together. Her body pressed against mine, softness meeting power. Breath left me but holding her was worth it. Her small, firm ass pressed into my crotch and yeah... I was definitely getting hard. "Thanks," she gasped, eyes wide.

"No problem," I stammered, trying to sound cool despite my obvious boner. "All in a day's work."

D'Spayre eyed us, fingers twitching like he was plotting something nasty. Tension thick enough to cut with a knife.

"You think you're powerful, Conquest?" he hissed, voice sliding off the walls. "You don't even know what real power is."

I grinned, feeling the rush fire through me. "Oh, I've got a pretty good idea."

He shrank back, sneering, "You're just a kid trying to play with the big dogs."

"Maybe," I shot back, standing up, gently pushing Echo aside. "But today? You're the one crashing."

His smile twisted cruel, eyes burning into mine. A cold shiver ran down my spine, but I stood firm. He was trying to mess with my head, plant doubts. But there was nothing there to doubt. I'm Conquest.

"I see something in you," he whispered, voice smooth and dark. "One day, you could be stronger than all of us."

I narrowed my eyes. "What do you want?"

He smiled wider, venom in every word. "To show you what you really are. What you can become. With my guidance, you could conquer the universe. All you gotta do is embrace the darkness inside."

My heart pounded. His words tempted me — endless power, no limits. But I knew better. He was a demon, feeding on me, not me on him. "I don't need you," I snarled. "I'll conquer on my own terms."

D'Spayre's grin never faded. "Suit yourself. But you'll regret it."

Then he lunged, limbs stretching, fingers stabbing like knives, trying to infect me with his cold, empty evil. It felt like freezing poison spreading in my veins.

Shit. I'd need a serious edge to keep him out. Luckily, The Ledger's voice cut in, hooking me up with a new perk.

"Tyrant's Throne: Sovereign of the Invaded"

(CL ∞, 10 Billion DP)

Conquest is no longer a being that can be possessed—he is a prison, a throne room, and a proving ground for every god, demon, or parasite who dares step inside him. His mind does not break under the weight of cosmic invaders. It bends them into slaves.

Basically, I'm a fortress now — no demon or god can take control of me. Instead, I make them my slaves.

With this new power, D'Spayre's darkness didn't scare me — it became mine. He was part of me now, like a tool to wield. I could feel his fear, his rage. He never saw this coming.

"You can't do this!" he roared in my head. "I am D'Spayre! Fear incarnate!"

But I silenced him. His control slipped away like sand through fingers. He'd underestimated me. I'd become something worse than his worst nightmare.

As the crazy distortions faded, the Avengers looked around, stunned. The nightmare lifted, their minds clearing.

Dr. Strange stepped forward, cloak flowing like wings. "What... have you done?"

I looked at my hands, still glowing with leftover energy. "Did what needed doing. He's done."

She-Hulk got up, chest still heaving, looking confused. "What the hell just happened?"

Strange eyed me and the cube. "Conquest absorbed D'Spayre's essence. Stronger than ever."

Stark's voice came through, a mix of sarcasm and caution. "Nice move. You've definitely earned our trust now."

I couldn't blame him for the suspicion. I'd just swallowed a reality-warping demon whole. But I was in control. "Had to do it, Stark. D'Spayre was too dangerous."

His eyes narrowed hard. "We'll talk at SHIELD." Then he spun on his heel, boots clanging away. The team followed, footsteps echoing down the hall.

I watched them leave with a smug grin. The power of a Fear Lord? Now mine. That thought sent chills down my spine, and my mind ran wild imagining all the twisted pleasures and fetishes this power could unlock. As the last Avenger vanished, I took a deep breath and let myself savor the rush.

Then the Butcher's Voice cracked the silence, amused. "Looks like you've got a new toy, Conquest. How's it feel being king of fear?"

"Intense," I admitted. "But I'm good with it."

The Voice chuckled warmly. "No doubt. You've conquered a lot already. Now the universe is yours."

I felt it then — a change taking hold. My skin darkened to a deep black that sucked in every bit of light. It wrapped me like armor, buzzing with raw potential. My eyes glowed molten gold, seeing through shadows, missing nothing. Horns burst from my forehead, sharp and deadly. My teeth sharpened into fangs.

This was me now — a living beast made of pure fear. If I held a monster inside, now I was that monster.
