The moon was hanging high in the sky, and the prisoners were safely in their cells. Guards were posted at the Sanctuary's exits, just incase any monster's could sneak past the [Sanctuaries Blessing: Protection], which supposedly kept most monsters out. None of the guards believed in this so called magical barrier at first, but after all they've witnessed, they had no choice but to believe. And hope that the barrier did it's job. The Ashari did warn them that the barrier will be down on special occasions, but they were not told what those occasions were. And the Warden, Willis Abernathy, was not going to wait and find out.
Warden Willis, along with Leo, and fifteen other guards stood infront of the portal with a cart filled with the monster stones that the prisoners gathered during the day. Willis also carried the notes of all the information he has gathered in the past three days in his hand to hand over to the government representative that was supposed to cross over. He looked at his watch out of habit, but ever since he got here, it has stopped working the moment he got here.
Soon, the portal rippled and out came a man in a black suit, along with two military men. The man in the suit brushed off his clothes with his hand and looked around with an arrogant look on his face.
"Welcome Mr. Stone." The Warden greeted the man in the suit
"Willis, do you have the stuff?" Mr. Stone asked and the Warden gritted his teeth, due to the lack of respect, but he quickly regained his composure.
"Yes." He said and gestured towards the cart filled with monster stones
"Is that everything?" The man asked
"Yes." The Warden said emotionlessly
"So you are telling me that in three days, this is all you guys have managed to scrounge up. This is pathetic, you're all pathetic, you and those other three morons we put in charge of the sanctuaries. This is why I told them to replace you with the military." Mr. Stone said frustratedly while rubbing his muscles. The Warden tensed, as he fought the urge to punch this arrogant bastard in the face, as he knew the repercussions that would follow.
'Soon.' Willis thought as he looked at him.
"And your notes, atleast tell me you have gathered more information than the others." Mr. Stone said and the Warden handed over the notes he had made.
"This pretty much the same thing we got from the others. The only difference is the name of these so called monsters." He said frustratedly, as he flipped through the notes
"And if I may ask? What about the food and water we were promised? As well as the clothing and other supplies?" The Warden asked and Mr. Jones looked at him irritatedly
"Mr. Willis Abernathy, you currently reside in a natural paradise that possesses food, I'm sure water is somewhere around here. And that...Orb of Eldara or whatever is able to create anything can it not. I'm sure you can create clothing and other supplies with that can't you." Mr. Stone said and the Warden glared at him.
"I'm sure as you are aware from my report, we need points to use the Orb of Eldara, and we need the monster stones to exchange for points. So tell me Mr. Stone, how are we to make clothes if we are giving all the monster stones." The Warden said, and the guards beside him glared at all of them, while the two military men grabbed their guns. The tension in the air was palpable and Mr. Stone gritted his teeth. He knew he couldn't risk causing an anarchy this early in the operations to restore Earth using the resources from these isles. They needed the resources from the isle, and if the government needed to sacrifice him to keep the peace, they would gladly do it. The government was still unsure of just how useful the resources on these isles were, which is why they resorted to using prisoners, instead of using an all out assault with their precious military, which was needed for worldwide security.
"I will talk to my superiors. Food and water are not available right now, but clothing we can do. I will see if I can negotiate for clothes for both you and those convicts, but don't hold your breath." Mr. Stone said
"See that you do. And tell your bosses that I'm gonna need around six hundred more prisoners tomorrow." The Warden said and Mr. Stone's eyes widened.
'Is the casualty rate that high, but then again, these guys are prisoners, not well trained soldiers.' Mr. Stone thought and regained his composure
"I'll see that they are informed." Mr. Stone said and he and the military men left, bringing the cart and the notes with them.
"What a nice guy." Leo said sarcastically as he and the other fifteen guards followed behind the Warden.
"They think of us no different than we think of our prisoners. Expendable." The Warden said as they stopped infront of the Orb of Eldara. He nodded to guards stationed there and they looked at each other before leaving. The Warden walked up to the orb and took out five of the imp monster stones from his pocket. These monster stones gave the highest amount of points so far, which was 200 points each. The Warden placed his hands on the orb and watched as it turned into particles before he saw his points increase. He turned around, and saw his sixteen subordinates with monster stones in their hands.
'We will be their slaves no longer.' He thought, while unbeknownst to him, a pair of blue eyes watched their every move.
