"Hmmm, peaceful forest you all got here, it's been peaceful for a long time hasn't it," I said with a smile, none of the guards in the answered, instead they put their hands on their weapons. Yeah, I need to practice not smiling when giving someone a compliment, stupid helmet.
"Hey, do you guys have a cloak for him cause we'd like to lessen our chances of getting shot?" Christopher said while facing the nearby city gates.
"No, sorry, but he's going to have to just head through the town looking like.... that," the Guardsmen explained, looking around the area of trees around us.
"But you're in luck though, right now it would 2:00 pm so most of our people are working at the moment so less people are going to see you when you go through, and once we to holding station we will be taking that Ferral ghoul off your hands and be asking you all a few questions," The Guardsmen on the left explained as he began cleaning his pistol with barrel facing the back of the Sleigh.
I looked over at Sebrisha who was currently reading the book she had got from the trash hole when she fought washer, it seems like she was stuck on something, or a part of the book didn't make sense.
"What's wrong? Did someone write something in Morse code in that book or something," I asked while looking over Sebrisha shoulder and examining the book.
"Hah, I wish, then I could decode it with a computer, this just doesn't make any sense, there are no spell's written down after D tier spells and I don't know where to even start with casting them," Sebrisha explained while showing the blank pages.
"Huh, well, couldn't you just experiment on my blood until you find out the right amount of blood you need," I asked while examining the last page that was filled in the book.
"Is that permission," Sebrisha asked way too quickly while looking at me.
"Um, y-yeah," I answered, and before I knew it, Sebrisha had pulled out 4 empty mixture bottles with needles on and placed 3 of them on the seat.
"You ready," Sebrisha said while grabbing my arm.
".... I regret this already," I sighed as Sebrisha injected me, I looked Infront on the sleigh to the main gate of the city and man was the got a lot bigger now that we were closer to it. I don't know how big the Great Wall of China is, but this gate must be near its height.
"Welcome to the city of ghoul town, I hope none of you start any trouble here once we get past these gates cause I'm not even going to lie to y'all, most of us are way to bored and are just ready for trouble," The Guardsman on the right said with a bit of a laugh.
"On god," The Guard on the left laughed as he stood up and put up a hand signal to the people on the front gate.
There was wagon Infront of that were leading us to ghoul town which they brought for us to ride in, but I guess the merchants forgot to mention the sleigh to them, so they just ended up riding back Infront of us. After the Guardsman raised his hand signal, 8 guards walked out of the gate and walked towards the sleigh. After they walked to the sleigh, 6 of them surrounded the vehicle and began looking into every corner of the vehicle to check if anything was under it.
They then asked us a couple of question of the gear we had on us, then they took all of our weapons away and put them into a big box that was carried by a tall wooden Golem which it brought behind the gate. After that, they opened the gate for us and made us get out of the sleigh for further inspection.
"Don't worry about your weird sleigh, the Guards will be taking it to storage, so you'll be able to pick it up after you are done with your business here," The guardsman said while taking the Feral Straw ghoul to the gate, the straw ghoul bit the guardsman, and the Guardsman responded by supplexing him.
"Okay so nobody do anything stupid here, because I don't have a camera to record any of you if one y'all get did like that," Christopher laughed as he walked ahead of us towards the gate. Once we entered the gates of the city, it was like we just traveled to another world. This place looks a whole lot bigger on the inside of the gate than the outside of it.
The city was filled with different types of buildings and areas while still having trees in the ground somehow, this whole city looked peaceful with people just walking around without a care in the world. As we were walking through the city admiring the view while following the guards who were guiding us, a Ghoul in a light armored military guardsmen uniform with a weird red symbol on the shoulder with his hands behind his back.
"Good afternoon, head guardsmen general sir," The Guardsman yelled as he saluted, after he had said every Guardsmen who at the gate saluted while facing the General, I also saluted and Sebrisha quickly grabbed my arm and brought my hand right back down. One of the guards let out a small chuckle after that, and after 3 seconds of them saluting, the General finally returned the salute.
"At ease," the General yelled as he dropped his salute, and after he dropped his, everyone else dropped there's and continued working on what they were working on.
"What's today's reports, and who are these people you are bringing through the back gate," The General said while examining us, he then looked at me and began looking at me weird, not of fear but of recognition.
"Haven't I seen you before," the General said while walking a little to me.
"Um, I don't think so. This was my first time ever coming to place," I answered. The General continued to examine me, trying to remember if he had ever seen me before but proceeded to give up and turn his attention back to the Guardsman.
"These guys were found to close to the city without authorization and was attacked by a ghoul with a bunch of straws and a ghoul troll that was found with a heavy rusted machine gun with a tree pulled out of the ground," The Guardsman explained while lifting some of the straws he had taken from the straw ghoul a while ago.
"What the... what hell is going on in that part of the swamp lately, last time a group of civilians went into that part of the swamp, they got attacked by an ogre with club wearing a thong riding a T-Rex with cybernetic enhancements with a railgun in its eye's," The General said with a straight face.
"Wait, what?" Vinessa said, making sure she heard that right.
"That sounds awesome," I said with a laugh.
"Ya'll sure the people who reported that weren't on some type of influence," Christopher said jokingly.
"Yeah, we checked them 3 times," one of the Guardsmen answered.
"Anyway, make sure you take to the correct area and instruct them on the rules of the city and where they can and cannot go," the General explained.
"Yes, Sir," the Guardsmen said in unison as they began walking forward. After that, they began talking while leading us down city, they began giving us the dues and don'ts of the city and were to and not to go for the time being during out time here. The walk around the city lasted an hour and during that time I was just admiring the city, there were so many shops and stores that flooded the streets. Along with so many different people carrying so many unique items with them that I was starting to get a headache. The main thing I was focused on was the amount of delicious looking foods that here, I saw an ice cream store during our tour, and I almost asked if we could stop by there.
"Hey Pazzo, I've wanted to ask you something," Sebrisha whispered to me.
"Shoot," I said while checking if the Guardsmen was paying attention to us.
"That general we saw at the gate seemed like he knew you."
"Yeah, it was weird, I'm pretty sure I've never been here before, even before I fell down in the trash hole,"
"Hmm, what's your opinion on this place, by the way," Sebrisha asked while watching a group of people walk down the sidewalk on the other side of the street.
"I'm not even going to lie; this whole place makes hungry," I answered, which made Sebrisha let out a sigh of amusement.
"Yeah, same.... have you listened to anything the Guardsmen said throughout the entirety of this trip," Sebrisha asked.
"Not one word," I answered. After that, we continued walking for another 5 minutes until we finally stopped a building called a Hotel/Motel.
"Um, why is there a / sign in the middle of the name," Vinessa asked while pointing at the sign of the large building.
"The Brothers that own this place couldn't decide on its name, so they flipped a coin, and it landed on its side, so they just merged the names," One of the Guardsmen answered.
"Anyway, you all will be staying here for the night, and a group of guards will come and pick you all up at 14:00 tomorrow, There are rooms already booked for you guys so all you need to do is ask for them at the front dusk, any question's," The Guardsman asked as he looked down at his watch.
"Nope," Christopher said as he walked towards the building's front doors with Vinessa following close behind him.
"Never been so relieved to take shower until this moment," Vinessa grumbled as she walked through the doors.
"You all have a goodnight," Sebrisha said as she grabbed Escalate, who had been silently following us the entire time and brought him into the room.
"I have a question," I said to one of the Guardsmen.
"Um, shoot," the Guardsmen replied.
"Before that Straw ghoul went feral, He brought up something called the Undead tree, what is that," I asked him while looking down at Roby who had some sort of weird mechanical box with him.
"The Undead tree is a big tree that never grows leaves and is always constantly rotting but no matter what weather or what natural disaster happens, it always grows back, like something is Keeping it alive," The Guardsman answered.
"Hmmm, so where is this tree?" I asked him while looking through the window of the hotel.
"You didn't notice it?"
"Notice what?"
"That you guys were right beside it"
