I had no idea how much Alex had looked into Bella's past, but I had to assume that someone like him wouldn't let something like that slip past him.
I ran my fingers through my hair, frustrated. Why hadn't I thought of this earlier? If Alex already knew about her family, this entire plan of mine, holding these pictures over Bella's head, trying to use her family as leverage, would be useless.
No, I needed to think of something else. Something bigger, something stronger, something that would make Alex see what I saw. But what could it be?
The alcohol in my system was no longer clouding my thoughts; instead, it felt like it was adding to the weight pressing down on my chest. I had to get my bearings. I had to plan better, make smarter moves. I couldn't risk it. I couldn't let Bella be the one who walked away with Alex. She wasn't the right choice for him. She never would be.
