Lying on the carpet, Bonnie heard approaching footsteps. The next second, she felt weightless as someone scooped her up into their arms.
A low, tense voice sounded above her. "Where does it hurt?"
Where did it hurt?
Bonnie quickly clutched her stomach. "My stomach hurts."
Derek frowned and gently placed her on the sofa. "I'll call a doctor."
Just as he turned to leave, his fingers were suddenly tugged. Her hand was soft and delicate, and her voice came low and faint. "I don't want a doctor."
Derek turned back, his deep gaze falling on her.
Her red lips and fair skin, so pure and lovely. Bonnie looked up at him, gently biting her lip. "Don't go."
Don't go.
Silence fell, so still it felt like even their breathing could be heard.
Derek's lashes fluttered. His expression unreadable, he didn't speak for a long moment.
Bonnie gave his finger a subtle tug and softly murmured like a spoiled child, "Okay?"
