I woke up, crashing to the ground at what I think was terminal velocity.
Huh, ouch?
Except it didn't hurt.
As I sluggishly stood back on my feet, in the middle of a crater, I realized that everything was wrong.
I noticed a lot of things all at once.
One, I was too tall… I was never this tall but it seemed like I was now standing at 6ft.
So I have basically lost my short king privileges.
Damn it, girls used to dig that.
Secondly, my clothes, sure I could afford some decent clothings but I could never afford something this expensive looking.
The price of what I'm wearing probably cost an arm or two.
Long white robe with golden embroidery… but I can worry about that later.
The sound of thunder fills my ear as I observe my body in trepidation.
Delicate smooth skin that seemed to glow in the sun, with nary a blemish in sight, slender fingers and perfectly trimmed nails, too perfect. Unnatural.
Silky long white hair and toned muscles, I don't remember having. All in all, my whole physiology screamed "perfection."
And then I moved my attention to the weight on my back.
Ahhhh… it's that, isn't it?
Attached to my back are multiple ridiculously large pristine white wings that could cover my whole body with enough space to spare.
All of this things I noticed are trivial compared the sheer metaphysical senses I now have access to, humming eagerly at the back of my mind.
The tumultuous sound of thunder filling the area mirrors my emotional turmoil.
Also, my vision is so clear that I might as well be seeing things in 4K, and it seems like I'm also hearing and smelling in 4K as well.
Ah… the crazy thing about all this is that, I had all the answers the moment I crash landed.
Why?
That's because I've apparently been ROB'ed as an Angel.
And not just any type of Angel, a powerful one who holds control over several domains and one of said domains is knowledge.
The sounds of footsteps draw my attention to an approaching figure.
"Hey, are you okay?!" A feminine voice asks, worry in her voice.
Blue eyes with mid thigh length black hair tied in twin-tails. She adorns a white mini dress with a blue ribbon around her neck and one tied under her very big breasts.
A short stature and a very beautiful face.
The first thing I say upon seeing this visage I recognize without ever meeting her in person is;
"Holy shit! You are glowing like crazy!"
"And your voice sounds amazing!" She responds without hesitation.
Ah, she's right… my voice doesn't just sound amazing, it sounds like I'm speaking in cursive.
That's unsettling but I can worry about that later, compartmentalize, compartmentalize.
The woman before me is a goddess, one from a franchise I remember watching the anime of.
Hestia, goddess of the hearth and one of my favorite persons in this world.
"You're an Angel…" She says with surprise as she walks closer to me, careful of her steps since I was still in the middle of a crater.
"It would seem like it." I sigh.
"What's wrong, you don't seem happy." She ask as she takes in my form.
"Would you believe me if I said I was not from around here? As in, not from this world…"
"Although my abilities to detect lies wouldn't work on you, I believe you."
"Yeah, of course not, Angels don't— wait what?!" I ask as she tilts her head. "You believe me?"
"Of course I do, there are no Angels in Tenkai after all… and somehow I can tell that someone great has favored you." She responds.
"Someone great? Well, isn't that ominous? … also what are you doing?"
"Ah, sorry, I couldn't help myself…" Hestia who has been brushing my wings reply, embarrassed. "They feel very soft and amazing to touch."
"Well, I don't mind you touching but at least take out to dinner first." I tease, the words rolling smoothly on my tongue.
She blushes.
"A-anyway, I'm Hestia, Goddess of the hearth and newly descended… nice to meet you." Hestia offers a gloved hand, a big smile on her face.
Newly descended, so that means I'm around six months before canon, not that I really care about that.
"Hmmm, that's a nice smile you got there…" I take her hand. "I'm… oh fuck, I can't remember my name."
"Eh, really? That sounds like trouble. Are you okay?"
The worry in Hestia's voice is very obvious that it makes me smile a bit and I reflexively reach a hand to pat her head.
"Yeah, I'm fine… I feel like I should worry about it more but somehow I'm not."
It would seem like my mind has been tampered with… or more like, I'm not overly attached to mortal reasonings anymore but I can also tell that a name is important for an Angel.
Seeing Hestia's red face, I quickly take back my hand. "Ah, sorry about that, it had just felt natural to do that."
"I-it's f-fine." Hestia blushes and my new divine heart thumps a bit.
"Anyway, I have a friend that should be arriving soon since she was supposed to meet me here, maybe she would have some insight to your situation." She suggests, face still a bit red.
A friend? Hephaestus then.
"Really? You know you don't have to go out of your way to help me right? I'll feel bad if I make things difficult for you."
And honestly, I really feel that way.
"Hmmhmm." She shakes her head in denial. "If anything, I would feel bad if I was to leave you here… and also…" She puts her index fingers together and looks to the side.
"And also?" I ask.
"I'm a bit curious about you." She finishes, not meeting my face.
That makes me chuckle.
Being this cute is not fair at all.
"That's fine I guess."
"Really?"
"Really."
"You don't think I'm prying too much?"
"Honestly, I don't mind. I feel like I have to talk to someone about all this… just yesterday, I was human and all of a sudden, I'm now in a not really familiar world as an Angel with several domains and senses I didn't think could be possible." I sigh. "It's a bit difficult to take in. Overwhelming."
"WAIT! What did you just say?" Hestia holds my robe jumping up and down.
Since I'm taller than her, she has to look up at me as she jumps, it's a little comedic seeing her like this.
"I have several domains?"
"No! I mean yes that is very important and we will come back to that but what I mean is, what you said before that."
"I was human?" I say.
"Yes!… is that true? Really?" Hestia asks looking at me intently.
"Yes… I was most definitely human yesterday." I nod.
"That's…" She puts a hand to her chin as she looks at me. "Now that you mention it, your divinity does seem new, I had thought you were camouflaging it… I see."
"What do you see?" I ask, curious.
"Are you sure you want to know?" Hestia asks with a complicated expression.
I nod.
"Okay. This is just speculations okay? So don't take it seriously okay?… it's possible that you died in your home dimension and then some God reincarnated you into an Angel…" She says looking at me.
"That… makes sense."
"It does?"
"Why are you surprised?"
"I just didn't think you would accept it like that."
"Yeah that's true… but it would explain how I am an Angel in a different world and why I can't remember my name."
"Are you not worried? Wh-what about your family?" Hestia asks hesitatingly.
"Ah…"
I was trying not to think about that.
While I don't remember my name, the faces of my family is still vivid in my mind, even more so, now that I seem to have a nearly eidetic memory.
My single mother and my clingy little sister.
"…"
Something must have shown on my face because the next moment, Hestia was hugging me.
"H-hestia?…"
"Don't worry, I know that we just met and It might be selfishness on my part but if you would have me, I would like to be your family."
Even with my now tremendous thinking capacity, I mentally blue screened at Hestia's words.
Family? Really?
"I-is that okay?" She asks looking up at me.
Not able to formulate any response, I nod instead.
Inside of me, a warm feeling envelopes me.
The feeling of happiness.
Just being here with Hestia, I feel like I've learnt more about her than I did in the anime, which should not be possible… unless a power was involved…
"——ia!"
The indistinct yelling makes Hestia break the hug.
"Ah! That must be Hephaestus!" Hestia says as she looks behind her, Hephaestus is not in sight but her voice can be heard.
"Hestia!" The voice rings again, this time more clearly.
Hestia grabs hold of my hand as she looks at me with a smile, a smile that would make flowers blush.
"Let's go!"
I realized then that I wouldn't mind seeing that smile everyday.
