Then Black set the document down and looked up he really looked up at that moment.
His eyes got really sharp they caught the light from the torch like pieces of glass getting ready for a battle. He was calm a moment ago but that calmness was gone now. His back got straight. His shoulders went back too. Even the way he breathed changed it was slower and deeper like his body had shifted into a way of being. The torchlight made his eyes look like they were ready, for something his whole body looked like it was getting ready to fight.
A soldier stepping out of thought and into command.
Something colder. More precise. Necessary.
The man took a breath in. He inhaled slowly. The air went into his lungs slowly.
