A Silence Heavy Enough to Break Men
A throat cleared somewhere. Somebody moved a little. Then it was quiet again. The stillness settled in more. The silence was like the throat clearing. It happened and then the room was still with the memory of someone shifting in their seat and the sound of a throat being cleared the silence was back and the stillness was there like it was before, with the throat clearing and someone shifting, now just a memory.
The man was. Nobody dared to interrupt the man. He just kept on talking. People did not say a word to stop the man.
The people waited. They just stood there. Waited. The people were waiting for something to happen. The people waited.
The man let the people do what they wanted. He gave them permission. They were able to do things their way. The people were allowed to make their decisions and the man let them.
