Chapter 571: Wait, This Is Training!?
Just as Sakazuki was still thinking, an enormous presence rolled into everyone's perception.
The Ark of Eternity.
That massive ship appeared as if it had been waiting for the right moment to announce itself. The battle had only just ended, yet Ryuunosuke and his group arrived anyway.
That made Sakazuki even more confused.
With Ryuunosuke's information network, he should already know the fighting here was finished.
And based on everything the Dragon Hunter Pirates had been doing, they were supposed to be searching for the remaining route to Laugh Tale.
So why come here so stubbornly?
Once the battle was over, Ryuunosuke's presence should have become almost unnecessary.
A few minutes later, the Ark of Eternity entered the port.
Ryuunosuke led his people down the gangway and stepped onto the island.
"Captain Ryuunosuke, thank you for your help."
Sakazuki walked forward to greet him, then finally voiced what he had been holding back.
"Now that the battle is over, do you need anything else here?"
"Carmel is coming."
Ryuunosuke answered simply.
"So I'll wait for him here."
Then he added what mattered most.
"News from Morgans…"
Ryuunosuke told Sakazuki everything he had learned.
After hearing it, Sakazuki's expression turned heavy.
It was impossible for Carmel not to understand how terrifying Ryuunosuke was.
Even with the Dragon Hunter Pirates spread out on missions, Ryuunosuke himself was still here.
And those Aragami had proven completely incapable of threatening him.
So what was Carmel doing?
Coming here like this looked like suicide.
The more Sakazuki thought about it, the less it made sense.
"You're confused, right?"
Ryuunosuke glanced at his face and spoke as if he had already read his thoughts.
"Honestly, I'm confused too."
"That guy isn't coming here to die."
"In other words, he's confident."
"I just don't know what gave him that confidence."
Sakazuki frowned deeper.
"Could they have some other plan prepared here?"
He could not accept it.
"I don't know either."
Ryuunosuke's voice stayed calm.
"But there are no more Aragami in the sea now."
Boom!
The moment he finished speaking, something colossal shattered the ice on the ocean surface and rose up.
A massive sea monster.
It was none other than Kun, the Sea King ruler Ryuunosuke had subdued.
Kun opened its mouth, and Shirahoshi appeared within.
Then, as if answering a silent command, countless enormous Sea Kings surfaced around them.
Some Aragami had originally been hiding deep in the sea.
Now, those hidden monsters were gone.
Devoured.
"This…"
Sakazuki swallowed hard, his throat suddenly dry.
"I really can't imagine Carmel having any other preparations."
"Besides relying on the Aragami, what other resources does he have?"
"Some."
Ryuunosuke's eyes held certainty.
"Vegapunk wouldn't make a decision this foolish."
Carmel would never dare to act on his own.
He could not, and he would not, move without Vegapunk's approval.
Which meant Vegapunk was behind everything.
And Vegapunk was not just a scientist.
He was hailed as the most intelligent being alive, a mind said to be five hundred years ahead of his time.
On top of that, he was one of the leaders of the Guardians.
That alone made it impossible for his move to be empty.
"So what do we do next?"
Sakazuki asked, sounding strangely helpless.
The Marines were not weak.
He was not weak.
But strength was always relative.
Compared to these Aragami, the Marines had felt powerless.
"Wait."
Ryuunosuke spoke as calmly as if they were deciding what to eat for dinner.
"Morgans already delivered the challenge."
"And Carmel made his appearance loud and clear."
"He should arrive soon."
"Oi, kid."
A relaxed voice wandered into the conversation like it owned the island.
Garp.
He strolled over, completely unbothered, as if he had not just survived a disaster.
"Tell that old man Zephyr about your Dragon Hunter Pirates training methods."
Garp scratched his nose, then added with a grin that belonged on a pirate, not a Marine.
"We can't keep expecting you Dragon Hunter Pirates to handle everything that happens at sea forever, can we?"
"Aren't you tired?"
While lecturing Ryuunosuke for not acting like a proper pirate, he also casually mocked Zephyr's old fashioned training.
Only Garp could talk like that.
There were not many people left who could stand across from Ryuunosuke and speak as equals.
Garp spoke like an elder because he had always been one.
"Since you've said it, I don't have a reason to refuse."
Ryuunosuke smiled.
"But does the Navy really need my help?"
It was a simple question, but it gave the Marines plenty of face.
It also let Ryuunosuke avoid extra trouble.
Because the Dragon Hunter Pirates training methods were not something ordinary people could copy.
"Is there anything you don't need?"
Garp snorted, then reached out and grabbed a brand new recruit by the collar as if he were lifting a sack of rice.
"Hey, kid. Do you think you need this?"
The recruit froze, eyes wide, words stuck.
"What are you mumbling for?"
Garp's voice slammed down.
"I'm asking you."
"You were almost scared to death by the Aragami just now, and you're still thinking about pride?"
"Hurry up and ask that kid Ryuunosuke to teach you how to get stronger!"
"How can you all be this stupid?!"
Garp's forehead bulged.
"At a time like this, you're still hesitating?"
"You're hopeless…"
"Captain Ryuunosuke, please do not hold back your guidance."
Zephyr finally stepped forward.
Compared to the recruits, he understood the value of this far more clearly.
This was not cooperation.
This was the Marines taking advantage of the Dragon Hunter Pirates, completely one sided.
And this kind of advantage did not come again.
If it were not for this moment, and if it were not for Garp's mouth stirring the pot, they might never see these training methods in their entire lives.
"Ah…"
Ryuunosuke rubbed the side of his face.
"Since Instructor Zephyr says it like that, it would be rude for me to refuse."
He turned his head.
"Rem, demonstrate our usual training method for everyone."
As he spoke, Rem appeared at his call.
A cute girl stepped forward, the kind of girl who looked like she could melt anyone's heart.
The Marines stared.
Someone like that should have been the crew's darling.
And she was going to demonstrate training?
"Captain Ryuunosuke, we are not…"
Zephyr started to speak.
Boom!
Before he could finish, Rem attacked Ryuunosuke.
The terrifying sound of the impact swallowed every doubt on the island.
That hammer.
The weight behind its swing.
Even some of the Admirals went blank.
An attack that violent coming from a cute girl made no sense to them.
Cute and violent.
Two words that should never belong together.
Yet on Rem, they fit perfectly.
And then Rem's methods shifted again.
It became obvious to everyone watching.
She was not sparring politely.
She was fighting Ryuunosuke in a brutal, all out way.
This… was training!?
