Chapter 566: The Navy vs. the Aragami, Emerging from All Over!
After hearing Kuzan's report, Garp nodded with a grave expression.
If the Marines could truly grasp the technology behind these things, then producing combat creatures like this might not be impossible.
They had already witnessed the Aragami's raw power with their own eyes.
The Marines did not want to use monsters like that for war, but if they could be controlled… they could become a tool to keep order on the sea.
Boom!
A water column exploded upward from the ocean like a spear fired by a god.
In the blink of an eye, it sliced through the Aragami fighting Sakazuki, cutting it cleanly in half at the waist.
The force did not weaken at all. The water lance kept roaring forward, aimed straight at Sakazuki.
"Hellhound: Crimson Lotus!"
Sakazuki immediately unleashed a wide range magma burst to block it head on.
Even so, countless scattered water spears split off and rained down in every direction, all of them stabbing toward him.
Puff, puff, puff, puff…
The next instant, the water jets pierced straight through Sakazuki's body.
Of course, faced with that dense storm, Sakazuki turned fully into his Logia form.
The water spears passed through without dealing damage.
But elemental transformation still drained stamina quickly, especially under repeated, high density pressure like this.
The moment the water column vanished, Sakazuki retreated at once.
He had no interest in tasting that attack again.
"Careful!"
"Ice Age!"
"Magamata!"
Kuzan and Borsalino's voices rang out from behind.
The next moment, they struck.
The sea froze solid in an instant.
Then Borsalino's light barrage tore through the frozen Aragami and finished it off.
Only then did Sakazuki turn around.
Behind them, a colossal Aragami was sealed inside the ice.
Borsalino's attack had pierced its body, leaving more than a dozen gaping holes.
Yet even after suffering that, the creature still radiated an overwhelming life force.
If the two of them had not intervened in time, Sakazuki would have been hit.
Even if he did not die, it would not have ended cleanly.
Especially if he got entangled with this thing and then the Aragami that fired water spears attacked from behind again.
Even Sakazuki would be in danger.
"These things are coming from the sea!"
Gion shouted from the side.
As a Vice Admiral at Marine Headquarters, Gion's Observation Haki was extremely sharp.
The instant those Aragami appeared, she extended her senses into the ocean.
Her expression changed violently.
Sweat beaded across her forehead.
There were too many.
And more importantly, down below… there were quite a few presences even larger than the Aragami they had just been dealing with.
"In the sea?"
"Everyone, move to the nearby islands immediately!"
"Do not fight on the sea!"
Tsuru barked the order without hesitation, forcing the battlefield to shift.
"Kuzan, go all out. Make the ice layer even thicker."
Garp spoke as he moved his own ship.
Right now, what they needed was time.
The nearest safe point was the three defensive fortifications outside Marine Headquarters.
Even at full speed, it would take at least half an hour to reach them.
For the next half hour, they could not allow these Aragami to launch a full siege.
The other Marine forces also began to relocate.
Boom!
A Aragami shaped like a dragon smashed up through the ice, swallowed a Marine warship whole, then plunged back into the sea.
A Rear Admiral was on that ship.
He did not even have time to react before he was taken.
In an instant, panic spread through the fleet.
That kind of attack was simply beyond what ordinary Marines could resist.
Worse, those monsters were now everywhere under the ice.
Most of the Marines' Observation Haki was too weak to judge when the next strike would come.
Boom!
Another Aragami burst up from beneath the ice and lunged at a Marine warship.
"This… I don't want to die!"
"Someone… please save us…"
In a heartbeat, the sailors on that ship dropped their spears.
Faced with something like this, they could not even form the thought of resistance.
Everyone aboard was a fresh recruit who had never experienced real war.
They had been brought along because the mission was supposed to be safe, a chance to gain experience.
No one expected to run straight into a nightmare.
"Gravity Blade: Heavenly Delight!"
A wooden plank suddenly appeared in front of the warship, blocking the enormous Aragami's path.
The figure standing on it was none other than Admiral Fujitora of Marine Headquarters.
He drew his cane sword.
A terrifying gravitational force erupted.
At the same time, the surrounding ice shattered under the pressure of his attack.
The colossal Aragami was utterly powerless against him.
Its body was compressed, crushed, and reduced into minced meat.
"Get out of the battlefield immediately. This fight isn't something you can take part in."
Fujitora said it with a calm smile, then rushed toward another location.
If the Admirals did not step in, the rest of the Marines would have no chance of holding against this kind of assault.
…
After watching Fujitora move, Garp immediately pulled out a Den Den Mushi and called Ryuunosuke.
The others had no way to stop these Aragami that were appearing without warning.
…
"Oh, I get it."
"So the Aragami are all coming from the sea."
Ryuunosuke's voice came through quickly.
"Old man, do you know roughly how many?"
"I didn't count the exact number," Garp said, his tone heavy with helplessness, "but it should be several hundred."
"It's not as many as what the Dragon Hunter Pirates faced last time, but this is still enough to be fatal for the Marines."
That was only because the Marines were strong enough to hold at all.
If these Aragami struck other nations or forces, they likely would not even have the ability to resist.
"Captain…"
At that moment, Najenda arrived.
Seeing Ryuunosuke on the Den Den Mushi, her expression tightened with worry.
"The one on the other end is the old man," Ryuunosuke said immediately. "Say what you need to say, Najenda."
"Captain, the town on Chikarochi Island has been attacked by the Aragami."
"There were no survivors on the entire island."
Najenda reported directly.
The reason it had reached her so fast was simple.
Chikarochi Island was too close to the G5 branch.
At that range, Ryuunosuke's base could be affected at any moment.
Just in time, the Dragon Hunter Pirates' handyman squad discovered the situation and reported it.
Ryuunosuke's eyes hardened.
"So these Aragami aren't everything Vegapunk has."
He spoke straight into the Den Den Mushi.
"Grandpa, it might take us another half day to reach you."
"You have to hold on."
"I'm going to handle things on the ship first. Don't get distracted. Focus on the battle!"
"Alright, go do what you need to do," Garp replied.
Then he hung up.
Ryuunosuke lowered the Den Den Mushi and looked directly at Najenda.
"Any news from Morgans' side?"
"How many places have the Aragami appeared so far?"
