Silas turned his attention back to Henry and frowned,
"It wasn't her mistake. It is her family. They tricked her."
Ivy's fist clenched, and she suddenly remembered one of the details she had missed before.
After a month of the apocalypse, since the Ravencrofts had not hoarded supplies, they forced her to invite Silas to dinners.
Their motive was simple force Silas to hand over the food to the Ravencroft family, otherwise, they would not give Ivy any food.
Silas, like a fool he was, continued to supply all the food he had gathered to the Ravencroft family.
He even secretly proposed to Ivy that they should run away, but Ivy, blinded by family love, stayed and made him suffer...till he died saving her...
Before the apocalypse, many of the citizens hoarded food; after the apocalypse, some used the lockdown to steal food and other supplies.
Only fools like Ravencrofts stayed in their home and followed the government's orders. Other smart, wealthy families bought more supplies, while some stole or hunted animals.
Silas's family was smart enough and had hoarded supplies, too.
However, as an emergency backup, he still went out for a hunt.
Yet 50% of his food was taken away by the Ravencroft family, while the remaining Silas saved up.
According to the timeline yesterday, her parents had ordered her to lure Silas away, as they wanted to decorate Silas's home for his birthday.
The naive Ivy of the past life believed their words and lured away Silas.
Who would have thought that the Ravencroft family would steal all of Silas's saved-up food?
When Silas and Ivy returned, they instantly acted as if Ivy knew everything, making Ivy so angry that she developed a fever.
"Do you truly think Ivy is innocent? If she were, she would have never lured you away. It was all her plan. Please! Open your eyes and look at her ugly gold digger side." Henry sounded frustrated.
"Henry, I am warning you for the last time. If you said even one word against Ivy, I will kick you out of the team." Silas's angry voice echoed, forcing Henry to shut up.
Ivy closed her eyes and muttered softly in her heart,
'Silas, in this life, I will not be a burden to you. I will help you. I promise. And I will stay away too... in this life, even if I have to die alone, I will never drag you down.'
Swallowing the bitter feeling in her heart, she waited till Silas and his team left, picked up a metal rod, and marched toward Brimstone Mountain.
On the way, Ivy encountered a few zombies.
Compared to a decade later zombies who can use superpower and had the intelligence of adult humans, the brainless and slow zombies were nothing to Ivy.
Though she hardly had any fighting skills, and her current body was weak, Ivy still knew she had the confidence that she could deal with the zombies.
Yet to her surprise, most of the brainless zombies ignored her existence.
"Wait... my second superpower... is it still with me?" Ivy muttered in astonishment.
To test her theory, Ivy lifted her hand in the air and closed her eyes.
"Safe Zone Activate."
Ivy waited for the familiar blue energy to spread from her body and form a protective blue dome.
Yet... she felt nothing.
Opening her eyes, her disappointment amplified when she saw no protective barrier.
"So why are they avoiding me... is it because... maybe I still retain my second superpower, but it is still in its earlier phase..." Ivy reached a conclusion.
Throwing the topic in the back of her mind, Ivy raced toward Brimstone Mountain.
The journey to Brimstone Mountain wasn't a difficult one.
Though Zombies were rampant now, they weren't smart enough to cause any actual harm to Ivy.
With skillful steps and relying on her sense, Ivy reached the foot of Brimstone Mountain.
The mountain still had some green trees left, and though the land seemed slightly cracked and dry, indicating that no human had entered the mountains, Ivy still had her guards up.
When she had turned blind in her previous life, Ivy had heavily relied on her hearing and smelling sense, which were now proving to be useful.
It took Ivy some time to remember the area where she had found the box, since, according to her, a decade or so had passed.
The beautiful green color of nature, the slight cool breeze, and the faint earthy smell didn't bring any comfort to Ivy.
Instead, she felt a wave of gloom wash over her.
Soon, the zombie virus would spread more fervently, turning these vibrant trees into mutated plants.
Ironically, the very tree that provided oxygen to them would transform into killers capable of killing humans in one strike.
Suppressing the surging emotions in her heart, Ivy checked every root of the trees, and that was when she found it.
The box that contained the ring.
