Rising from the Land of Rain's soil stood a colossal tree with a trunk thousands of meters in diameter—a titan that seemed to hold up the very heavens!
Like a pillar bridging earth and sky! The clouds above seemed to drift merely around the God Tree's trunk! From below, it appeared as though the tree might actually touch the moon itself!
But even more terrifying than the God Tree's massive trunk were its roots. In an instant, they spread outward from the Land of Rain, covering the entire ninja world in their domain.
First came the villages closest to the God Tree—Konoha, Sunagakure, and Iwagakure! Without warning, massive roots burst from the ground, threading through every corner of each village!
Then Kumogakure, Takigakure, and all the other villages across the continental landmass. Finally, even Kirigakure, far out on the ocean, couldn't escape!
All were covered by the God Tree's roots!
At the very apex of the God Tree, a gigantic flower bud slowly began to emerge. Once it absorbed all the chakra in the ninja world, this bud would bloom into the ultimate chakra fruit—the God Tree Fruit itself!
When Kaguya Ōtsutsuki first obtained the God Tree fruit, she had cast vast numbers of humans into the Infinite Tsukuyomi, then drained their power to condense the fruit.

Moments later, the root released him, and he collapsed to the ground.
"What's happening? Where's my chakra?"
Hiruzen could barely struggle to his feet; his chakra had been drained instantaneously. After countless battles and injuries, without chakra to sustain him—even though he was still in his prime—his body felt ancient and decrepit.
If even a Kage-level powerhouse like Hiruzen couldn't escape, the rest of Konoha's shinobi had no hope. Countless ninjas were bound by roots, their chakra drained, then released.
Apart from losing their chakra, the ninjas showed no other changes.
