"Only that way can I catch up to you." Scarlet's tone carried a bit of grievance.
Hearing Scarlet's words, Aiden felt a bit uncomfortable. After all, in the game, when had this queenly lady ever spoken in a tone of grievance?
"You brought this upon yourself." Aiden shook his head. "And we're not the same kind of people. Judging by your entourage, you should be a high-ranking executive of Shinra Company, and I'm just an ordinary person. Why bother entangling yourself with me?"
"But I like you!" Scarlet's words were shocking.
Aiden immediately stood up, took a big step back, and looked at Scarlet in disbelief. "You like me? You're joking, right?"
"I'm not joking at all." Scarlet said.
"But we've only met once, just once," Aiden said. "In total, it probably wasn't even ten minutes. You probably didn't even see my face clearly back then, maybe didn't even know my name."
"So what if it was once? Haven't you heard of love at first sight? Besides, you saved me. You're my warrior… no, my knight." Scarlet endured the pain and stood up, staring at Aiden without blinking, as if trying to etch his face deeply into her memory.
'Ridiculous.' Aiden didn't believe it at all. In his perception, the stunning Scarlet was exactly the type of woman best at playing with men. Everything she did seemed like an act.
"You should have a communicator or phone or something, right? Contact your people, let them come pick you up. I'm leaving now." Aiden said, then turned to leave.
Seeing that Aiden was about to leave again, Scarlet panicked a little. Ignoring her worn-out soles, she gritted her teeth and took a few steps forward. Then, due to the pain, she stumbled and fell forward again.
Originally, Aiden didn't want to bother with her. But seeing that she didn't seem to be faking and was about to fall to the ground, he had no choice but to step forward and support her with both hands.
However, just as he supported Scarlet, she unexpectedly took advantage of the moment to wrap both arms around his neck, pressing her body tightly against his.
"Let go!" Aiden was stunned. This woman was really like a piece of clingy plaster.
"I won't let go!" Scarlet, of course, wouldn't give up such a good opportunity. She clasped her fingers tightly, locking her grip around Aiden's neck.
"Don't force me to use violence. You've seen my strength." Aiden said coldly. "Be careful, I might tear off your arms."
"Then go ahead and use violence on me." Scarlet didn't care at all and pressed her face against Aiden's chest as she spoke.
Hearing this, Aiden fell silent. Her shamelessness exceeded anything he had imagined.
"You said it."
Aiden had killed many people and wouldn't show mercy just because it was a woman. A trace of cold cruelty flashed across his face as he grabbed Scarlet's slender arms with both hands.
However, just as he was about to exert force, Scarlet suddenly lifted her head and, seizing the moment when Aiden couldn't react, directly kissed his lips. Then, using a sudden burst of unknown strength, she forcibly turned Aiden's body and pinned him against the wall by the street.
'What the hell!' Aiden's eyes widened. Damn, he actually got forcefully kissed.
Struggling hard to push Scarlet away, Aiden gasped deeply. Just now, Scarlet nearly sucked all the oxygen out of his lungs.
"Are you a succubus? One of those that sucks the essence out of men? I'm warning you…" After catching his breath, Aiden started to speak again, but before he could finish, Scarlet's sexy lips pressed against his again.
'This woman is definitely crazy!' This was the only thought in Aiden's mind.
However, he had to admit that Scarlet was indeed an extremely attractive woman. If you disregarded her identity and past deeds, there was hardly a man who could refuse such a nearly flawless woman, aside from her age.
But Aiden was a normal man, and as long as a man was normal, it was very hard to maintain rationality in this kind of situation.
So, when Scarlet kissed him again, Aiden simply hardened his heart, turned around, and pinned Scarlet against the wall in return, taking the initiative this time.
"Mmm!" Feeling the other party's initiative, Scarlet's eyes narrowed, seeming a bit indulgent, maybe even sinking into it. Her earlier assertiveness slowly faded under Aiden's assertiveness. Like a young girl, she passively responded to Aiden's advances.
After a long time, Aiden finally released Scarlet's lips and stared at her. "Satisfied now?"
"Mm!" Scarlet nodded, then rested her face on Aiden's chest again. "Yes."
"Then let go." Aiden said, noticing Scarlet's arms still wrapped around his neck.
"No, you'll leave." Scarlet shook her head.
"Then what do you want?" Aiden asked helplessly.
"My foot's injured. Shouldn't you take me somewhere to rest?" Scarlet emphasized the phrase "somewhere."
"Don't even think about it. It's just a scrape, it'll be fine in a bit." Aiden refused.
"Then resting for a while is fine too." Scarlet wouldn't let any chance slip by.
Aiden frowned again, then sighed helplessly. "Then let's just find somewhere random."
Scarlet immediately showed a triumphant smile.
But soon, her expression collapsed, because Aiden merely helped her find a step by the roadside to sit down.
"Shouldn't we go to a hotel or an inn? Or even a hospital would work. I know a few hospitals with single rooms." Scarlet said in dissatisfaction.
"No money." Aiden spat out two words plainly.
"I have some." Scarlet lifted the hem of her skirt and pulled out a delicate wallet from her thigh, waving it in front of Aiden.
"I also don't have ID. I'm undocumented in Midgar." Aiden added.
"That's fine too. I can help you get one." Scarlet said nonchalantly.
Aiden inhaled sharply.
As for why Scarlet had become like this, Aiden couldn't quite figure it out, clearly, it was just their first meeting.
Seemingly sensing Aiden's confusion, Scarlet hugged his arm and pressed it against her chest, then said, "Liking someone doesn't need a reason."
"That's not necessarily true." The softness on his arm made Aiden a little distracted, but he still refuted her.
"You don't even know my name."
"I can ask now." Scarlet rubbed against Aiden's arm. "My knight, may I ask your name?"
Seeing her pressing her advantage, Aiden really didn't want to answer, but found that after what had just happened, his willpower seemed to have weakened.
"Aiden." After hesitating a bit, Aiden still said his name.
"Scarlet." Scarlet narrowed her eyes.
Then she froze for a moment, as if she had heard the name somewhere before.
"Aiden… I think I've heard that name before. Turks, ah, right, from the Turks. I remember the director of the Turks seemed to have inquired about you." Scarlet recalled a conversation she'd overheard at the company a few days ago.
"The Turks' director? The one named Tseng?" Aiden remembered someone like that. He was the head of Shinra's armed unit and was secretly protecting, or rather, monitoring, Aerith. Aerith once mentioned that he wasn't hostile toward her.
"Yes, that's him. A guy who looks prettier than most women." Scarlet said somewhat enviously. That guy's looks made many women jealous.
"But why would Tseng be asking about you? If even he is interested, then you must be…" Scarlet released one hand and supported her chin, talking to herself. Then she thought of someone.
"Aerith."
Scarlet looked at Aiden. "You're not involved with Aerith, are you?"
Aiden nodded. "At the moment, I'm temporarily living at her place."
"You two are living together?" Scarlet shot up instantly, then sat back down with a frown due to the pain in her foot.
"Do you even know who she is?" Scarlet asked.
"Who is she?" Aiden of course knew, but pretended not to.
"She's the only Ancient on this planet, with very special powers." Scarlet's expression turned serious. "She's constantly monitored by the company. You absolutely shouldn't get too close to her."
"That's too bad. We've already been living together for a long time." Aiden shrugged.
"You can move out. If you don't have a place, you can come to me. I've got a big bed at home." Scarlet gestured.
"I still prefer small beds. Been like that forever." Aiden felt Scarlet was just trying to say that line and deliberately acted nervous.
"Small beds are not as comfy as big beds." Scarlet muttered, still holding Aiden's arm.
"But I still want to remind you, it's best not to get too involved with Aerith. The company will come after her eventually." She said. "I don't want you to be hurt by the company."
"If you say that, then I really can't leave Aerith. I don't want her to be harmed in any way." Aiden said to Scarlet.
Hearing this, Scarlet fell silent. After a moment, she asked, "You… like her?"
Aiden nodded without hesitation. "Of course. She's a good girl, a cute, good girl."
"So, you like the cute type?" Scarlet suddenly changed the topic.
"That's not necessarily true. I like sexy ones too." Aiden glanced at Scarlet's chest, raising his eyebrows.
"Then why did you reject me so much earlier?" Scarlet asked again, a bit aggrieved.
"Because you were too forward. So forward, it scared me." Aiden said honestly.
"But isn't being forward a good thing?" Scarlet asked.
Aiden didn't know how to answer and could only respond with silence.
Scarlet didn't continue the topic. Instead, she glanced at the delicate ladies' watch on her wrist, the time was already pointing to 9 o'clock.
"Aiden, can you take me home?" Scarlet looked at Aiden expectantly.
Before Aiden could speak, she added, "I really can't walk anymore. Even just taking me up to the train to the upper sector would be fine."
