Neon lights flickered across the evening sky as Jacob and Nina walked hand in hand down the brightly illuminated street, appearing like any ordinary couple enjoying their time together.
Jacob treasured this peaceful moment of warmth and tranquility. Ever since he had begun preparing for the High School Cup competition, such leisurely evenings had become increasingly rare in his demanding schedule.
As dusk settled over the city, the streets gradually came alive with activity. Bars and nightclubs began opening their doors, welcoming the night crowd, while fashionably dressed young people emerged onto the sidewalks in small groups of three to five friends.
Among the evening crowd were many sophisticated young women and international visitors from various regions. Jacob found himself genuinely curious about the bar and nightclub scene that surrounded them.
As someone who prided himself on being a true gentleman, Jacob had never set foot inside a bar or nightclub in either of his lives—his current one or his previous existence.
"Teacher Nina," Jacob couldn't help but ask, his curiosity getting the better of him, "have you ever been to a bar or nightclub before?"
"No, I haven't," Nina replied, shaking her head thoughtfully. Her daily life was actually quite routine and predictable; her only real hobbies consisted of occasional drinking and shopping trips when time permitted.
She only drank alcohol when spending time with her closest friend Eleanor, and she had never ventured into the bar or nightclub scene that many young people seemed to enjoy.
The thought of Eleanor suddenly brought a wave of guilt washing over Nina's conscience. Eleanor had extended numerous invitations for them to go out drinking together, but Nina had politely declined each time, yet here she was tonight with Jacob, planning to drink and dine together.
"I haven't been to one either," Jacob admitted, then suggested with growing enthusiasm, "Actually, sometimes I really want to experience what it's like."
"Let's forget about it," Nina said, shaking her head decisively. She genuinely wasn't particularly interested in the bar and nightclub atmosphere. "How about we take a leisurely stroll around the neighborhood instead, or perhaps catch a movie at the cinema?"
Hearing Nina's alternative suggestion, Jacob found himself somewhat tempted by the idea. The mention of movies suddenly made Jacob realize that the film industry in this Pokemon world was vastly different from what he had known in his previous life.
Many classic movies that he remembered fondly, for instance, simply didn't exist in this Pokemon-centered universe. For some inexplicable reason, Jacob's mind suddenly wandered to the comedy film "Goodbye Mr. Loser" from his past life.
An intriguing thought crossed his mind: Why not cast my older brother as the main protagonist and produce this movie in this world?
The more he considered the possibility, the more exciting the prospect became to him.
"Hey, hey there," Nina called out, interrupting his wandering thoughts.
Just as Jacob's imagination had begun to drift into creative territory, Nina stretched out her hand and waved it directly in front of Jacob's eyes, successfully breaking his concentration and bringing him back to the present moment.
"What are you thinking about so intensely?" she asked with genuine curiosity.
"Nothing particularly important," Jacob replied with a warm smile spreading across his face. "What would you think if I decided to invest in producing a movie?"
"Making a movie?" Nina was genuinely shocked by Jacob's seemingly wild and unexpected idea.
"Of course," Jacob responded, and the more he contemplated the concept, the more feasible and exciting it seemed to become. "The first movie would star my older brother in a film called 'Goodbye Mr. Loser.' Later on, when I become stronger and more established, I could produce another movie called 'Cocoon of Destruction and Diancie.' I wouldn't study Pokemon research in college; instead, I'd become a film director and pursue the arts."
"It really might be possible," he continued with growing excitement. "I've already got the entire plot for the first movie worked out in my mind."
The creative possibilities seemed endless as his imagination ran wild with potential storylines and characters.
As the two continued their animated conversation about filmmaking possibilities, a sudden commotion arose within the surrounding crowd. Jacob and Nina looked up simultaneously and observed the crowd beginning to surge in a unified direction.
"What's happening over there?" The sudden change in the atmosphere left them both feeling somewhat bewildered and curious.
"I'm not sure, but let's go investigate," Jacob said, his natural curiosity piqued by the unexpected disturbance.
The two exchanged quick glances and decided to walk hand in hand with the flowing crowd to discover the source of the excitement.
After walking steadily for several minutes through the moving throng of people, they arrived at a spacious public plaza and discovered that everyone was surging toward a large Battle Frontier facility.
A substantial crowd had gathered directly in front of the Battle Frontier entrance, with people discussing the situation amongst themselves in animated voices.
"The Chosen Battle Frontier really went all out for today's event; the rewards they're offering are surprisingly generous and valuable."
"They're making such an elaborate show of this whole thing, so it shouldn't be some kind of scam or trick."
"But this particular event sounds quite difficult and challenging to complete successfully."
Upon hearing that it involved a Battle Frontier promotional event, Jacob and Nina also decided to squeeze their way into the gathering crowd to get a better view of what was happening.
"Friends and fellow trainers, welcome!" called out an enthusiastic announcer. "Today, the Imperial City's Chosen Battle Frontier is celebrating our grand opening with a very special promotional event."
"To show our appreciation and give back to both our new and loyal returning customers, we have specially prepared some truly magnificent grand prizes for today's participants."
"As long as you choose to participate in today's exciting event, you will automatically have a chance to enter our drawing and potentially win the ultimate grand prize package."
"Our incredible prizes include valuable cash coupons, top-tier starter Pokemon with exceptional potential, and even rare Dragon-type Pokemon for the most fortunate winners!"
The energetic host on the elevated stage continued promoting the event with great enthusiasm, but Jacob found himself not particularly interested in what was being offered. He already possessed a sufficient number of Pokemon with excellent natural aptitude and tremendous growth potential; he didn't particularly care for acquiring ordinary Pokemon through such events.
As for Dragon-type Pokemon specifically, while others in the crowd might desperately covet such rare creatures, Jacob genuinely didn't want to add any more to his team, unless they happened to be Legendary Pokemon or Pseudo-Legendary Pokemon. He really had no desire for acquiring any other standard Dragon-type Pokemon at this point in his journey.
However, just because Jacob wasn't particularly interested in the prizes didn't mean that Nina shared his indifference. The moment she heard the announcer mention "Dragon-type Pokemon," her eyes immediately lit up with unmistakable excitement, and she leaned in closer to hear every detail.
"Shall we go take a closer look at what they're offering?" Nina asked with obvious enthusiasm.
"Alright, absolutely," Jacob replied naturally. He certainly wouldn't want to spoil Nina's fun or dampen her excitement. Since this was supposed to be their date together, he was perfectly willing to do whatever activities she found enjoyable and interesting.
The Battle Frontier represents one of the most distinctive and specialized buildings found throughout the Pokemon world. As the name clearly suggests, the primary purpose of any Battle Frontier facility is to provide a dedicated space and venue for Pokemon Trainers to engage in competitive battles. The most skilled and accomplished Trainers who work at these facilities are given the prestigious title of Frontier Brain.
Battle Frontiers and traditional Pokemon Gyms actually share many fundamental similarities in their basic operations and purposes. The only significant difference between these two types of facilities is that Battle Frontiers operate as private business enterprises, while Pokemon Gyms function as official government-sanctioned organizations under League authority.
Although Battle Frontiers are privately owned businesses, under the skilled operation of substantial capital investment and marketing expertise, the popularity and public appeal of Battle Frontiers often actually exceeds that of traditional Pokemon Gyms. Additionally, the Trainers who qualify to serve as Frontier Brains are exceptionally powerful and skilled in their craft.
In addition to providing battle services, Battle Frontiers also offer comprehensive services such as helping Trainers properly cultivate and train their Pokemon, professional Pokemon egg hatching services, and retail sales of high-quality starter Pokemon for beginning trainers.
In summary, as long as a customer possesses sufficient financial resources, they can enjoy virtually any Pokemon-related service imaginable at a well-equipped Battle Frontier facility.
As the two made their way into the bustling Battle Frontier building, the interior was already packed with people from wall to wall. A front desk attendant immediately spotted the two newcomers with their outstanding presence and demeanor—of course, it would have been difficult not to notice them given their natural charisma and impressive height.
"Are you two here to participate in our special promotional event?" the attendant asked politely.
"Yes, we are," Nina nodded in response with interest. "How exactly do we participate in your lucky draw event?"
"There are three distinct ways to participate in our lucky draw event," the attendant explained professionally. "The first method involves participating in fully random battles, with a registration fee of one thousand Pokedollars per individual battle. If you successfully defeat three consecutive opponents, you earn a basic lucky draw ticket; defeat six opponents in a row, and you receive an intermediate lucky draw ticket; defeat nine consecutive opponents, and you qualify for an advanced lucky draw ticket."
Fully random battles represent a type of competitive battling that has emerged and gained popularity in recent years. In this format, two Trainers randomly draw Pokemon from a provided selection and must battle using these unfamiliar Pokemon as their temporary partners for the duration of the match.
Compared to traditional Pokemon battles where trainers use their own trained teams, this particular battle mode tests a Trainer's fundamental understanding of Pokemon species, their comprehensive theoretical knowledge of Pokemon behavior and abilities, and their ability to adapt quickly to new situations.
"What are the other participation methods?" Nina continued to inquire with growing interest.
"The second way to participate in our lucky draw event is considerably more difficult and challenging: the Frontier Brain Challenge. You face off against Frontier Brains of various skill levels and ranks, and depending on how long you manage to last in battle against them, you'll receive either basic or intermediate lucky draw tickets as rewards. If you actually manage to defeat a Frontier Brain in battle, you'll receive the coveted advanced lucky draw ticket."
"The third and final way to participate in our lucky draw event is much simpler and more straightforward: today only, anyone who spends over ten thousand Pokedollars at this Battle Frontier facility will receive a complimentary basic lucky draw ticket; spend over one hundred thousand Pokedollars, and you'll receive a free intermediate lucky draw ticket; and if you spend over one million Pokedollars, you'll receive a free advanced lucky draw ticket."
