Nathaniel is eighteen years old this year, the same age as Jacob, and is also a senior high school student preparing for graduation.

Although his strength isn't considered top-tier within the Drakehold Dragon Secret Realm, both he and Jacob rank among the most formidable King-level trainers in their age group.

His ace Pokemon, Kingdra, possesses the Swift Swim ability, which dramatically increases its speed during rainy weather conditions. Combined with its devastating special attack power and its natural four-times resistance to Fire-type moves, it serves as the perfect counter to Jacob's Charizard.

In addition to Kingdra, Nathaniel's other two Pokemon are equally impressive and well-trained.

One is Altaria, often jokingly referred to as the "traitor of the dragon clan" due to its dual Fairy and Flying typing, and the other is a Tyrantrum with exceptionally powerful close-combat capabilities.

A purely physical attacker in Tyrantrum, a purely special attacker in Kingdra, and the more supportive Altaria—the combination of these three Pokemon creates an extremely well-balanced team. Moreover, all three are genuine Dragon-type Pokemon, making Nathaniel's credentials as a Dragon-type specialist far more authentic than Jacob's somewhat unconventional approach to Dragon-type training.

However, Jacob felt no intimidation whatsoever at this revelation.

Only fake Dragon-type trainers would rely on Pokemon like Altaria and Kingdra, he thought to himself with confidence.

Real Dragon-type trainers use Pokemon like Gyarados, Charizard, and Aerodactyl—powerful creatures that embody the true spirit of dragons regardless of their official typing.

In this upcoming battle between authentic and pretender Dragon trainers, how could Jacob's Charizard and Sceptile possibly fear such opposition?

"Welcome everyone to today's exciting match! Our two competitors are Jacob from the Capital Dragon Secret Realm and Nathaniel from the Drakehold Dragon Secret Realm!"

"Let us invite both trainers to take the stage!"

Accompanied by the host's enthusiastic announcement, Jacob and Nathaniel emerged simultaneously onto the battlefield.

Nathaniel appeared tall and lean with an refined demeanor, wearing the official Drakehold Dragon Secret Realm windbreaker and a pair of polished black boots. His overall appearance projected coolness and confidence, with the corners of his mouth turned upward in a slight, knowing smile.

"Let the battle begin!"

"Go, Kingdra!"

"Noibat, I choose you!"

The Pokemon that Nathaniel selected didn't surprise anyone in the audience. His ace King-level Kingdra emerged first, immediately positioning itself to use Rain Dance and seize control of the weather conditions. However, the Noibat that Jacob sent out caught everyone completely off guard. The spectators had universally expected Jacob to lead with his Charizard to take advantage of the current sunny weather.

"Jacob didn't start with Charizard—he's opening with Noibat instead," Elliot commented from the commentary booth with genuine surprise in his voice. "If I hadn't witnessed this morning's battle, I would definitely question whether Jacob understands proper battle tactics."

"But after watching his performance this morning, I have complete faith that Jacob must have solid reasoning behind this decision. Let's continue watching to see what kind of spectacular performance this Noibat will deliver."

Nathaniel's brow furrowed slightly in confusion. He had been thinking along the same lines as the commentator, fully expecting Jacob to send out either Charizard or Sceptile as his opening Pokemon. The choice of Noibat seemed completely illogical.

Noibat is a sitting duck, Nathaniel thought to himself. With its four-times weakness to Ice-type attacks, sending it against Kingdra was essentially offering it up as a sacrifice. In front of Kingdra's Ice Beam, Noibat would be completely helpless, like a defenseless infant.

"Jacob, I'll show you what a true Dragon trainer looks like, and demonstrate that the Drakehold Dragon Secret Realm is the strongest training facility!"

"Kingdra, use Rain Dance!"

"Noibat, use Taunt!"

Nathaniel naturally commanded Kingdra to employ Rain Dance, intending to transform the sunny weather into rainy conditions. This weather change would not only activate Kingdra's Swift Swim ability but also significantly enhance the power of Water-type attacks.

However, Jacob had no intention of allowing Nathaniel to execute his strategy so easily. He had deliberately sent Noibat onto the field first specifically to use Taunt, preventing Kingdra from using any status moves and forcing it to rely solely on offensive attacks.

Although both trainers issued their commands almost simultaneously, Noibat managed to act first.

The Noibat, which possessed the Telepathy ability, had already established a preliminary mental connection with Jacob. Through this psychic link, it could communicate simple thoughts and information directly to Jacob's mind, naturally allowing it to react faster than Kingdra, which had to rely on verbal commands.

This represented only basic telepathic communication. As the mental bond between trainer and Pokemon strengthened over time, Jacob and Noibat would eventually achieve true telepathic coordination.

Noibat flapped its wings gracefully as it soared through the air, emitting specialized sound waves from its mouth. Dark-type energy accompanied these sonic vibrations, spreading outward in concentric circles and traveling at incredible speed. Almost instantaneously, the attack struck Kingdra just as it was beginning to gather water energy, abruptly interrupting its Rain Dance technique.

"Is it using sound waves to execute Taunt?!" Elliot exclaimed from the commentary booth, his professional expertise immediately recognizing the unique mechanics at play. As an experienced commentator, he could instantly tell that Noibat's method of performing the Taunt move differed dramatically from how other Pokemon typically executed the same technique.

Jacob smiled with satisfaction. The way his Noibat utilized status moves represented exactly the secret weapon he had been developing and perfecting for months. The technique involved using Noibat's natural ultrasonic abilities to transmit energy, allowing certain moves to activate faster and achieve effects similar to the Prankster ability.

Of course, reaching this level of coordination wasn't easy to accomplish, and several specific conditions needed to be met for success.

First, the Noibat's natural potential had to be exceptionally high. Jacob estimated that it required at least Champion-level aptitude to work properly. When Noibat had been at King-level potential, it hadn't been capable of learning this advanced technique. Only after Jacob captured his sixth Dragon-type Pokemon and all their aptitudes received upgrades had Noibat developed this remarkable ability.

Second, the Pokemon needed to possess the Telepathy ability specifically, because only Noibat with this particular characteristic demonstrated sufficient sensitivity to energy manipulation. This allowed them to attach various types of energy to sound waves and propagate attacks along with sonic vibrations.

These two conditions could be considered absolutely essential for the technique to function.

However, once a Pokemon mastered this ability, the effects proved incredibly powerful. Most importantly, Taunt could almost always take priority in battle, providing a 100% guarantee of preventing opponents from using status moves—an advantage that couldn't be underestimated.

Furthermore, for attacks like Dragon Pulse, the execution method would change dramatically. Instead of simple energy projection, Dragon-type energy would be attached to sound waves, not only greatly increasing the move's activation speed but also transforming it into a large-scale, area-of-effect attack capable of hitting multiple targets simultaneously.

This single ability alone could dramatically enhance Noibat's overall combat effectiveness and battlefield utility.

"What an ingenious concept."

"So that's how Noibat can perform techniques like that. I think I should consider training a Noibat myself when I return home."

"I have a feeling that after today's battle concludes, many trainers will choose Noibat as their starter Pokemon."

If Jacob's use of Charizard's Dragon Tail technique during the morning battles had merely impressed the audience, then the abilities demonstrated by Noibat at this moment could definitely be described as absolutely astounding.

Richard's expression turned sour as he watched from the stands. Despite his personal animosity toward Jacob, he was forced to admit that anyone capable of developing such innovative techniques truly deserved recognition as a research genius.

Mason's lips curved upward in a slight smile of approval. He felt completely confident that his initial assessment had been correct. From the previous incident when Jacob had successfully commanded both Roserade and Alakazam single-handedly to hold off Anthony, Mason had already recognized Jacob's exceptional natural talent.

Julia cheered enthusiastically for Jacob, completely forgetting that the VIP booth was soundproofed from the main arena. No one except Raya, who sat beside her, could hear her excited voice. At that moment, Raya wore a thoughtful expression on her face, though no one could discern exactly what was occupying her thoughts.
