Ethan stared blankly ahead, his mind a turbulent sea of confusion and pain, while Caleb sat silently beside him, the weight of disappointment radiating from his very presence. Although Caleb said nothing, Ethan could sense the storm brewing beneath his calm exterior—he was clearly hurt by what had transpired, yet he seemed unwilling, or perhaps unable, to voice his thoughts at that moment.
Suddenly, breaking the heavy silence, Ethan blurted out, "She's getting pregnant for him, isn't that painful?"
The question hung in the air, sharp and raw, finally drawing Caleb's gaze toward him.
In that instant, Ethan's face crumpled with a despair so profound it was as if his very soul had vanished; the person Caleb looked at was unrecognizable, swallowed whole by anguish.
Caleb's voice was barely a whisper, laced with helplessness: "Is there anything you can do, even if she plans to have his child?"
