He inhaled sharply. Silence hung heavy for a beat, broken only by the rain still pattering against the windows.
Silas' POV~
A heaviness settled over me, pressing on my chest. I exhaled sharply through gritted teeth and muttered, "You know what...." My hand shot out, reaching instinctively for Zane's shoulder. "You should change into warm, dry clothes and wait here. I'll go search the house myself. Maybe he's just hiding somewhere. You know Alfie… he's always had that strange love for the rain. He might be outside, enjoying it like he used to."
But before I could finish, Zane lifted his hand abruptly, halting me mid-sentence. The movement was sharp, deliberate, and his eyes had shifted. A sudden stillness took over his expression, but in the depths of those eyes, I caught it...the flicker of realization.
"Don't bother," Zane whispered, his voice quiet but laced with conviction. The firmness in his tone brooked no argument. "I think I know where he is."
