Roshi struggled to raise a wall of magma in front of him to defend against the attack, but streaks of bluish light kept piercing through and striking his body.
"If you trust me, jump into the magma behind you. I swear you won't die!" Son Goku, the Four-Tails, said with a grave tone.
"But…" Roshi hesitated. Even though he was a Lava Release user and could manipulate magma, jumping into it and swimming wasn't exactly a viable option.
"There's no 'but' about it," Son Goku growled. "The guy in front of us isn't after you—he's after me. Right now, our fates are tied together."
Roshi gritted his teeth. If he didn't follow Son Goku's advice, he'd be captured any second now. Might as well gamble everything—at least then he'd fall with dignity.
"Screw it—hell with you!" Roshi cursed loudly and leapt backward into the volcanic magma.
...
"Is this his big power-up moment?"
Hyuga Gakuya watched calmly. He was more than familiar with this type of scene—protagonists always performed some desperate, seemingly irrational act when pushed to the brink, striking back just when the villain let their guard down.
The volcano erupted suddenly.
Molten lava spewed forth like a broken dam, cascading in rivers of red, unleashing intense heat and devastating force as it surged skyward.
In an instant, thick smoke billowed into the air, blotting out the sun. It felt like the end of the world.
The pungent smell of sulfur stung Gakuya's nose.
Within the blazing magma, Roshi's body began to transform—he was entering full Tailed Beast Mode. Son Goku, bathed in lava, climbed out from the heart of the volcano.
His enormous body was covered in glowing magma, radiating terrifying power. Roshi and the Four-Tails had become one—their shared eyes burned with fury.
"ROAAAAR!"
A thunderous roar ripped through the sky.
"A form that didn't even appear in the original story. Interesting," Gakuya murmured. He extended his right hand—six Truth-Seeking Orbs began to slowly rotate in his palm, as he gathered power.
From behind him, Konan's voice suddenly rang out.
"Gakuya, fall back! He has the terrain advantage! We can always capture the Four-Tails later!"
Gakuya didn't turn around. He simply raised his left hand and gave a thumbs-up to show he understood.
"Damn idiot," Konan muttered under her breath.
In the Four-Tails' mouth, yin-yang chakra began to condense—massive amounts of it swirling and gathering.
"You'll make a fine test subject," Gakuya said, as the blue chakra surrounding him surged like a boiling tide. The six orbs in his hand spun faster and faster, ready to unleash the Tenseigan's ultimate technique.
"Tailed Beast Bomb!"
A colossal sphere of chakra rocketed toward Gakuya with overwhelming force.
"Silver Wheel… Reincarnation Explosion!"
...
In an instant, blinding silver light exploded outward like a newborn sun. Gakuya's body was completely enveloped in the glow, merging with it.
As the Silver Wheel Reincarnation Explosion activated, the six Truth-Seeking Orbs spun at extreme speeds, forming a massive silver vortex.
The vortex expanded outward at an incredible pace, warping space itself as it passed. Everything caught within it was shredded into dust in a blink.
When the Silver Wheel Reincarnation Explosion collided with the Tailed Beast Bomb, the resulting impact was apocalyptic. The Tailed Beast Bomb shattered like a toy, completely consumed by the attack.
The Four-Tails' massive body was swallowed by the silver light, sliced and pummeled by the raging vortex, gaping wounds tearing open across his form.
The entire battlefield was consumed by a silver storm of unbelievable destructive power—raw, breathtaking might on full display.
Konan's face paled. Her eyes widened.
"This… this is something ninjutsu can do? Only Nagato's Rinnegan could pull off something like this... What kind of power do Gakuya's eyes hold?"
...
Within the maelstrom, Roshi endured agony no living being should experience. Just before he lost consciousness, he whispered a silent apology to the Four-Tails in his heart.
"Sorry… we lost."
Son Goku let out a long sigh. "With power like that… we never stood a chance. We did all we could."
Even their full Tailed Beast transformation—supposedly their ultimate form—was nothing before this man.
Seeing the battle had reached its end, Gakuya finally withdrew the Truth-Seeking Orbs. Roshi, now forced out of Tailed Beast Mode, plummeted from the sky.
Gakuya quickly summoned a puppet falcon to catch the falling Roshi before he could plunge into the magma.
He flew up and landed beside the unconscious jinchūriki, checking his condition. The Tailed Beast couldn't be extracted yet—not until the host was stable.
Satisfied Roshi had slipped into deep unconsciousness, Gakuya gave the puppet a command. It flew back toward Konan, carrying the prisoner.
"Four-Tails captured. Let's move," Gakuya said, nodding at Roshi's limp body on the puppet's back.
Konan suppressed her shock and nodded. "We'll find a safe place to extract the beast."
Gakuya added, "No one will suspect a battle even took place here. This whole area is uninhabited. By the time someone shows up, they'll probably think the volcano erupted. Onoki likely believes Roshi is still fleeing somewhere."
...
"You did a good job keeping this under wraps," Konan said, pulling out a map. "There's a stone mountain to the east. We'll carve out a cave there and summon the Demonic Statue of the Outer Path."
"Let's go."
...
The two soared off on the puppet falcon, quickly reaching the marked location. Gakuya formed a few hand signs and effortlessly opened a cave in the mountainside.
Konan laid out a summoning scroll and dripped a vial of blood onto it, then performed the summoning technique.
A massive cloud of smoke erupted—and when it cleared, the Demonic Statue of the Outer Path loomed in the cavern.
Gakuya leapt onto its left pinky and formed another hand seal to activate the Magic Lantern Body Technique, calling in the other members of the Akatsuki.
Moments later, the holograms of the others appeared atop the statue.
"Well damn, that was fast. This Four-Tails jinchūriki must've been weak," Deidara said, the first to speak.
Gakuya thought for a moment. Compared to him, Roshi really had seemed kind of weak.
"Yeah… not much of a fight, really."
Konan gave him a puzzled look. Weak? Roshi, in his own territory, had fought like a monster. From what she'd witnessed, very few people could have gone toe-to-toe with that kind of power.
Only she had seen the full extent of the battle. Gakuya's Silver Wheel Reincarnation Explosion was terrifying. If that attack had shifted downward even slightly, it would've leveled the entire volcano.
"I knew it," Deidara scoffed. "Wouldn't have ended so fast otherwise."
Sasori rolled his eyes. "
God, Deidara, give it a rest. He's comparing Roshi to himself. Don't forget—Roshi fought alongside the Five-Tails' jinchūriki Han during the Third Great Ninja War. Together, they pushed back the Yellow Flash and even Jiraiya. He's no pushover."
Deidara snorted. "Tch. Still doesn't sound that strong. So, Gakuya, did you use any of my art this time?"
"Maybe next time," Gakuya chuckled.
Pain cut in sharply. "Enough chatter. Begin the extraction."
...
Everyone formed hand seals in unison and activated the jutsu.
"Sealing Technique: Nine Phantom Dragons!"
Four ghostly purple dragons burst forth from the statue's mouth, wrapping around Roshi and lifting him into the air. Bit by bit, the chakra of the Four-Tails began to drain from his body into the Demonic Statue.
The statue's eye slowly opened—a symbol that the Akatsuki had successfully captured their first Tailed Beast.
