✿ CHAPTER 42 ✿
"No, I can't take any beer for now" I was still trying to get over with the amount of beer I drank with Amelia.
"Why not? Is something wrong?" we both sat in the kitchen.
"No, I'm just exhausted for now" I rubbed my temples.
"Is it about company work or is it because you don't have some-" he gulped down a bottle of beer.
"Lysandra is coming back," I said to him as I sipped my coffee.
The beer in his mouth dripped down to his clothes as he had his eyes wide in shock.
"Here" I passed him a napkin to clean his mouth.
"YOU SAID WHAT!!" he stood up abruptly.
I sighed
"I said Lysandra is coming-"
"What in the fuck bro!!...how dare she try to step her legs back into this country!"
"This is bad news...this a terrible news!" he gulped down his beer again.
"Stop drinking that way".
"Why? She was the cause of your pain for years Leonard!...you were so depressed and frustrated!... I don't even want to remember how many times I had to comfort you".
"It's been 13 years so far...I've forgotten about her" I drank my coffee.
"You were a love-sick fool at that time...you were head over heels for your childhood friend, then what?" he opened another bottle of beer.
"She's now a popular actress, living her best life wherever she is....and now she wants to come back here?" Daniel frowned as he continued gulping down his beer.
"Let's not talk about that for now".
"Listen to me Leonard" he turned to face me...
"You and I both know the reason she wants to come back...you have to promise me not to ever see her or even get close to her...ever!"
I nodded "Yes"
"And If you do, then 30 years of our friendship is over"
"You can't say that..." I smiled.
"Of course, I can...I'm warning you, bro".
"Fine..."
"Why are you even drinking that coffee...drink some beer!"
"No no no"
"Yes yes yes"
After Daniel left...I went to sleep.
But couldn't fall asleep...and when I finally tried to sleep after many hours, I had that same dream again...the dream that kept haunting me for years...
BACK IN COLLEGE DAYS
25 year old Leonard
I haven't spoken to Lysandra since the last time she kissed me when she got drunk...ever since then I haven't spoken or seen her for over a month.
I called her several times and sent her so many messages but she ignored all of them. I had to confess my feelings to her, I can't keep it bottled up forever.
I waited outside the school with a bouquet of her favorite flowers and her favorite box of chocolates...today was her birthday, it was today or never.
After waiting for God knows how long I finally saw her walking out of the school building with her head low...I smiled at her, she noticed my presence but kept on walking away.
"Lysandra!....please wait up!...please!" I ran after her.
"Stay away from me Leonard"
"Please just give me a chance to express myself, please I beg you!" I knelt before her with the whole school looking at us.
I felt my heart race...
"I know this is so soon...but I felt like I had to do this now...I love you so much that it hurts...I've loved you since we were both 15...so please give me a chance....just this once please" I held out the bouquet for her as I laid down my heart.
I could see the shock in her eyes.
"How could you say that to me, Leonard?"
"I, I...I just had to confess the way I feel towards you-"
"We're childhood friends, that doesn't mean I see you that way"
"You have to leave, now".
"Lysandra please...please don't turn me down like this" My voice cracked as I pleaded with her.
"You're so pathetic" I turned around when I heard a male voice behind me.
"What are you doing here, Eric?" Lysandra said as she turned around.
"So you're the so-called childhood friend that had the guts to confess to my girlfriend huh?" The guy walked towards me as he snatched the flowers from my hands.
Girlfriend?
"Give that back!...it's for Lysandra-"
"Lysandra is mine you bastard!" he smacked the flowers on the floor as he stepped on it.I was shocked.
"Don't you dare!" I tried pushing him away but his boys held me back.
"Eric please stop this!" Lysandra pleaded with him.
"You want my Lysandra huh?...you can't have her!" he threw a punch on my face.
"Eric!"
Everyone gasped in shock.
Blood trickling down my nose...
"Eric don't hit him!"
"Fine, I won't hit him...unless you tell me to" he walked towards Lysandra as he wrapped his arms around her waist.
"Tell me to hit him, baby"
"You, you can't hit him please"
"Just say the damn word...if you don't, then I'll kill him"
"No!...don't kill him"
"Then tell me to hit him..."
Lysandra looked at me.
"Lysandra...please don't do this, I love you-"
"Fine, hit him!" Lysandra said as she avoided eye contact with me.
I felt my heart shatter...
"No no!" I felt a hard punch on my stomach as I fell to the ground gasping for air.
I turned around to look at her
"lysandra-"
I felt so many legs began hitting me from every corner of my body...I could hear my bones cracking...I protected myself with my arms but that wasn't enough.
