"Come on!" shouted Emera as she dashed toward Kain in a sudden blur,
*Thud! *Thud! *Thud!
her fist already drawn back, ready to strike.
Kain reacted on instinct as soon as she moved, raising his sword and gripping the hilt tightly as he leapt backward.
He recalled the techniques drilled into him by his old mentor.
Even without a shield, the movements remained the same, only the execution needed to be sharper, more cautious as he held nothing to protect him from attacks.
He leaped just enough, allowing Emera to close the distance on by her own—until she entered his range.
In one fluid motion, Kain lunged his blade forward, driving his sword in a precise thrust aimed straight for her face.
But Emera was fast.
Faster than what he had expected.
She twisted her body at the last possible moment, the blade's tip grazing just past her cheek as she moved in with explosive force—arm already shooting.
*BANG!
Her fist slammed hard into Kain's stomach.
