Chapter 88: Art is an Explosion!
The burst of cold air formed a thin layer of frost on the bright orange Quen shield.
Superior Northern Wind bombs were among the very few alchemical bombs commonly used by witchers that didn't make a sound upon detonation.
However, this didn't mean that the power of a Northern Wind bomb was weaker than other alchemical bombs.
Lynn lowered the Quen shield that had been protecting them both and looked around.
Centered on where they stood, the surroundings had completely changed.
The muddy ground had turned into an ice surface that could reflect their figures.
The trees were also covered in frost.
The wolf pack that had circled around to the sides still maintained their pouncing postures, but they would never be able to harm the witcher or the sorceress again.
The Superior Northern Wind bombs had turned them all into lifelike ice sculptures.
They were frozen in mid-air and on the ground, and even their bodies still emanated a chilling cold.
At this moment, a gust of wind suddenly blew through the forest.
The ice sculptures crashed to the ground, shattering into countless ice fragments.
With the witcher's protection, the sorceress could concentrate on casting spells.
She twirled her staff, and the gem at its tip instantly shot out blazing waves of fire. The constantly churning fire waves coalesced into a seemingly corporeal crimson firebird, radiating terrifying heat.
Standing beside her, Lynn could feel sweat trickling down his back.
Triss pointed her staff at the Mother of Flesh, and the crimson firebird immediately let out a cry, spreading its wings and shooting towards the Mother of Flesh.
The latter seemed to sense the approaching danger, and its roots, deeply embedded in the ground, all thrust out, forming a thick barrier in front of it.
Before reaching the barrier, the crimson firebird spread its wings, and a towering wall of fire crashed against the barrier like a tidal wave. The terrifying heat instantly melted the thick barrier.
The rising flames clung to the Mother of Flesh.
Dark green liquid sprayed everywhere like blood.
The entire giant tree trembled.
With a tremendous roar, the center of the giant tree's trunk split open, dumping out a large pile of things like garbage.
Lynn looked closely and found that it was actually a large pile of corpses of intelligent beings.
"Triss, what is it doing? What are those things?"
The books in Kaer Morhen's library didn't contain any records about the Mother of Flesh.
Therefore, Lynn could only seek Triss's answer.
But Triss disappointed him.
The sorceress shook her head.
"Those are all the intelligent beings it devoured to maintain its existence in this world, but in this state, I don't know, I don't know what it's trying to do."
Next, the two of them found out.
More and more corpses were dumped out.
What was even more horrifying was that these corpses that fell to the ground, as if drawn by some force, actually pieced themselves back together.
Finally, they combined to form a terrifying, sanity-draining, four-legged crawling monster made up of countless corpses, severed limbs, and heads.
Correspondingly, the huge Mother of Flesh seemed to have lost a large amount of its essence, and even its sky-遮蔽 canopy drooped down weakly.
The crawling monster looked at the two of them and opened its mouth.
"Dodge!"
Lynn used an Aard sign, pushing Triss, who was standing beside him, far away.
Then he himself lunged hard in the other direction.
A large mass of foul-smelling acidic liquid landed where the two of them had been standing, sizzling and corroding a large pit in the ground.
"Give me a few minutes."
Triss tore open a scroll, and a purple magical barrier rose from the ground, blocking her front.
Then, she rotated her staff in a circle and planted it on the ground.
A magic circle unfolded beneath her feet. The chaotic magic power in the surroundings visibly stirred.
Seeing Triss preparing her finishing move, Lynn also drew the master-crafted silver sword from his back, and then his body shot forward like a fired crossbow bolt, fiercely charging towards the crawling monster made of countless corpses.
The monster spat out a second mass of corrosive acidic liquid. Without even thinking, the witcher dodged in the other direction.
Avoiding the acid spraying towards him.
The mass of acid landed on the ice surface that had been frozen by the Superior Northern Wind bomb earlier, immediately emitting a terribly foul-smelling heat.
It quickly corroded a shallow pit in the ice surface.
The witcher didn't want to imagine the consequences if this mass of acid landed on a human body.
As the third mass of acid appeared in the monster's gaping maw, a Superior Dancing Star landed in its mouth.
The explosion and the damage from the scorching fire waves caused the monster immense pain.
Using this time, the witcher had already charged to a place less than thirty meters in front of the monster.
The monster reached out an arm towards Lynn. Although it was dodged by Lynn again, perhaps due to its excessive movement, a large amount of sap and human limbs flew everywhere.
These liquids splattered on the ground, quickly corroding the ground into a pitted mess.
After rolling to dodge the monster's attack, Lynn turned around and threw another Superior Dancing Star bomb.
The explosion blew the arm extended by the Mother of Flesh's avatar to pieces.
But soon, more corpses surged up from inside the monster, reforming the arm.
Lynn naturally wouldn't stay in one place.
He moved around the monster, dodging the acid and corpse fragments thrown by the monster while counterattacking with alchemical bombs.
Superior Dancing Star bombs, Superior Dragon's Dream bombs, Superior Northern Wind bombs...
He tried each one, and finally found that the first two were more effective.
Fire seemed to have a restraining effect on this monster.
Whether it was a Superior Dancing Star bomb or a Superior Dragon's Dream bomb, they could both inflict significant and effective damage on the monster.
However, this monster was like a boss with a very long health bar. Even though Lynn could use alchemical bombs to blow off large chunks of corpses from the monster's body,
in the blink of an eye, those empty areas would quickly be filled again.
Lynn touched his belt.
He found that there were only a few alchemical bombs left hanging on the belt.
However, his purpose wasn't to kill this monster, but to attract its attention.
So far, this monster hadn't even touched the corner of Lynn's clothes.
But this wasn't because the monster was weak.
It was thanks to the witcher's physical abilities, which were superior to ordinary humans, and the enhanced effects brought by the Superior potions.
This allowed him to repeatedly dodge the monster's attacks.
If it were replaced by an ordinary human army, it could be said without exaggeration that it would be a massacre, with as many dying as came.
Just then, Lynn suddenly felt something like a rope wrap around his waist, and then he was pulled backward rapidly.
When he stopped, he found that he had been pulled back in front of Triss.
Triss's right hand held a magic rope—obviously, she had used this to pull Lynn over.
And Triss's left hand was pointing high towards the sky.
The sky?
Lynn looked up.
He saw a huge, burning fireball falling towards the crawling monster's location.
And then...
Boom!
A mushroom cloud rose.
