Chapter 84 - CHAPTER 83 – MEETING MIKAN’S FRIENDS

*Note: for those who thinks that I mention Rito quite a lot... don't worry, that will end in a near future but for this I have a very important question for you... Riko yes or not? Is a very important question and I'm not sure to do gender bender so comment, please.

Today's picture was very difficult to do and even so, it's not very good made... or maybe yes, judge it by yourselves.

And, of course, like I promised, today three pictures. Have a good day :)

...

 It was obvious that any girl would want to brag about having a standout boyfriend—especially if that boyfriend was Akira, a handsome, kind, honest boy and the future king of the galaxy. What woman wouldn't want to boast about a boyfriend like that? How many could say their boyfriend was the heir to the king of the galaxy? Naturally, only Akira.

But don't misunderstand: Mikan wasn't superficial, and the reason she liked Akira wasn't his money or fame, not even his looks. It was his personality—his kindness and honesty—that won her over. His looks were secondary. Although she had to admit that they did matter a little. Luckily, Akira was quite handsome.

{Author's Note: Remember, Akira isn't some Adonis. He's good-looking, but not model-tier. I did this to avoid the cliché of every fic protagonist being super handsome. Obviously, you need at least a bit of attractiveness to catch girls' eyes, but not to that extreme.}

That said, with an enthusiastic tone, Mikan told her dear friends the whole story of how they met—skipping the parts about Lala and the others being alien princesses, that Akira was the heir, and that Yami was a former assassin. And the fact that he had a harem? They'd find out sooner or later anyway, so she didn't hide it. She'd known her friends for a long time and cared for them a lot, but she also knew they were very curious and protective of her; they would insist on meeting her boyfriend and would end up discovering the truth.

Maybe if it were just Sachie and Mami, the truth could have stayed hidden, but Kari was sharp and intelligent and would surely notice something that would lead her to dig deeper and uncover it. That's why Mikan told them: to keep Kari from picking up on a clue and discovering not only that her boyfriend had a harem, but also his true identity.

"And you don't mind that your boyfriend has other girls?" Mami asked, astonished.

They had listened to the whole story, and the part that surprised them most was when Mikan told them she wasn't his only girlfriend—that there were others. Didn't it bother Mikan to share her boyfriend with other girls? Was this really the Mikan they had known for years?

The four of them had been together since kindergarten and had never been apart since. They were inseparable—best friends—which is why they worried so much about each other.

"At first it bothered me, but then it didn't," Mikan explained. "A man as exceptional as Akira is destined for greatness—and not to have just one woman—so instead of lamenting it and letting him slip away, I had no choice but to accept it."

Otherwise, in the future, when Mikan looked back on these days, she would probably ask herself: *What might have been? Where is Akira now? Does he ever think of me?* Mikan didn't want to be haunted by those questions, so she decided to accept the harem. She might feel jealous at times, but she preferred those pangs of jealousy to the regret of having made the wrong choice.

"You understand we have to meet him, right?" Kari said.

Kari was surprised, too. Akira must be someone very special if Mikan didn't mind him having several girlfriends.

"Mmm. You can meet him, but I'm afraid that when you see how amazing he is, you'll fall for him like I did," Mikan said.

This caught the girls off guard.

"Do you really think that could happen?" Sachie asked, curious.

"Of course," Mikan nodded.

That was how it began for her, after all. At first she felt nothing for him. Then that nothing turned into gratitude, admiration, and finally love. She feared her friends might go through the same sequence.

"And what would you think if that's true and I decided to date your boyfriend?" Kari asked in a teasing tone.

She just wanted to see her friend's reaction.

"If you think you've got what it takes and you succeed, who am I to interfere?" Mikan smiled. "Besides, if you do, we'll be sisters forever."

Did Kari think she could always tease her? She wasn't the only one who could play that game. And part of what Mikan said was true. Akira already had many girls. What difference would three more make—especially if those three were her best friends? They could be together forever and become sisters. All upside, no downside.

Kari was surprised. Was Mikan trying to tease her? Too early for that!

"Fine, then you won't mind if we go to your house this afternoon to meet your boyfriend, right?" Kari said.

"Of course not. I'll call him and tell him to come," Mikan replied.

Rito had said he planned to laze around at home that afternoon, but she'd kick him out. Rito couldn't find out about her relationship with Akira yet. Besides, she didn't want him ruining the mood by being there.

{Author's Note: Poor Rito is now just a side character nobody wants. See? There's no need to humiliate the original protagonist in a fic. Just treat him like an unimportant supporting role and that's it.}

"Then we'll go to your place this afternoon—three hours after school ends," Kari said.

"Okay," Mikan nodded.

"Does our opinion not matter?" Sachie asked.

"Aren't you curious about what Mikan said?" Kari shot back. "Mikan thinks we'll fall for her boyfriend like she did. Don't you want to check whether she's right or just exaggerating?"

In truth, she just wanted to tease Mikan a little—not go overboard. But to do that, she had to see this through. Did Mikan really think she'd fall for Akira like she did? Kari's standards were very high.

At her age, she was starting to take an interest in boys, but her standards were strict. Her future boyfriend had to be smart—maybe not as smart as she was—kind, polite, handsome, and athletic. Not just any guy would catch her attention.

Kari also hated boys who put on a nice face and acted kind in public but whose true personality was something else entirely. Kari wanted someone with a genuinely good heart—not someone who looked good on the outside but was a jerk underneath.

Yes, Kari was very demanding.

{Author's Note: All she didn't say is that he should be rich, too >:v}

The one thing Kari didn't care about was money. As long as the other requirements were met, she didn't care if the person was poor.

Sachie's and Mami's standards were quite similar.

For Sachie, her ideal boyfriend had to be handsome, kind-hearted, fun, and adventurous. Few requirements—but hard to find in one person.

Meanwhile, Mami's ideal boyfriend was someone kind at heart (like the others wanted), someone who would take special care of her, and at least be good-looking. He didn't need to be a model, but he had to be handsome enough.

Those were the girls' requirements.

"Kari-chan's right. I'm curious to know if what Mikan said is true," Mami agreed.

"Since you both want to, I'm in too!" Sachie said. "Honestly, I was going to suggest the same thing to Mikan, but Kari beat me to it."

And so the girls arranged to go meet their friend Mikan's boyfriend after school. What none of the three knew then was that this would change their lives forever.

Several hours later.

"What do you mean I have to leave the house?" Rito asked, puzzled.

"My friends are coming over and we want the place to ourselves!" Mikan said.

The moment she got home and saw Rito planted in front of the TV watching his favorite show, Mikan told him she wanted him out until nighttime.

"But Mikan, Saruyama can't hang out today. Where am I supposed to go?" Rito frowned.

"I don't know and I don't care. I just know you need to leave in two hours. My friends will be here by then, and I don't want us being disturbed," Mikan said.

"But Mikan… Can't I just stay in my room and keep quiet? I mean, I don't even know where to go," Rito protested.

Faced with Rito's resistance, Mikan frowned but didn't back down. She opened her dresser drawer, pulled out her coin purse, took out 10,000 yen, and handed it to him.

"Here—10,000 yen. Use it to go to the movies or whatever, but don't come back until tonight," Mikan said.

{Author's Note: 10,000 yen ≈ 67.69 USD}

Surprised, Rito took the 10,000 yen and gave in. His sister was too stubborn, and he knew he'd never beat her in an argument, so he had no choice but to comply. Even so, he couldn't understand why Mikan didn't want him at home. He could just stay in his room and be quiet—read manga or browse the internet. Why did Mikan want him gone? Rito didn't get it, but he was sure that if he asked Mikan directly, she wouldn't answer, so it wasn't worth trying.

While Rito wondered where he should go in two hours, Mikan called Akira and asked him to come to her house in two hours. Akira agreed and said he would come with Lala and the others, but Mikan told him she wanted him to come alone because she wanted to introduce him to her friends. Akira accepted without hesitation and said he'd be there.

With everything set, Mikan went to prepare some snacks while Rito kept thinking about what to do—and why his sister didn't want him at home.

Three hours later.

After talking it over with the girls about Mikan's request, they readily agreed that only I should go to Mikan's house to meet her friends. Besides, Haruna had offered to show them the gardening club that day, so they wouldn't have been able to come anyway. She invited me, too, but when Mikan asked me that favor, I couldn't turn her down. I also wanted to meet her friends. Add them to my harem? I already said I don't want any regrets in this life. Mikan's friends didn't get much screen time in the anime, but if you ask me whether I want them in my harem or not, the answer is pretty obvious.

As for their age… they'll grow up, just like Mikan. But I don't think there's anything wrong with becoming their boyfriend now. Mikan's friends were Sachie and Mami, if I remember correctly. They didn't play an important role in the manga and barely appeared after Mikan became friends with Yami, so I don't remember them all that well.

Anyway, at the appointed time, I went to Mikan's house and rang the bell.

From the other side of the door came a flurry of footsteps rushing toward it, and it swung open before I had time to say or even think anything.

When the door opened, I saw, of course, Sachie and Mami—Mikan's friends—but I also saw someone I never thought I'd meet after my reincarnation. She was a short girl wearing a yellow T-shirt and pink shorts. She had short, shoulder-length brown hair, and a whistle hung around her neck. It was **Hikari Yagami** from the anime *Digimon Adventure 01*!

But I wasn't the only one surprised. When the three girls saw the boy standing before them, they were struck by his face. He was quite handsome. At the very least, he checked one requirement off their lists.

No one was more astonished than Kari, who suddenly felt as if an arrow had shot straight through her heart. It didn't hurt—far from it—but the moment she saw Akira's face, it was as if Cupid had loosed an arrow. Her cheeks flushed, her heart started pounding, and she stared fixedly at Akira's face.
