Chapter 199 - Chapter 199: The Wedding

The wedding of the White Heron Princess and Kael was set on an auspicious day chosen with Yae Miko's help.

Following Inazuma tradition, weddings were held at night. Early that morning, a messenger was sent from the groom's side to the bride's home with a love letter.

Since both Kael and Ayaka lived in the Kamisato estate, Kael moved out to a separate residence the night before to follow custom.

And of course, the messengers chosen to deliver the letter were Lumine and Paimon.

They were the ones who helped bring Kael back to life, and delivering letters was something they'd become very good at.

"The Kamisato Clan really is top-tier nobility in Inazuma, huh? Lumine, look! So many jewels! Wow! And so much amazing food!"

The moment Paimon entered the courtyard, she flew around wide-eyed, gasping in wonder.

Lumine stared at her with a dead-fish expression.

"Paimon, you look like a country bumpkin visiting a big city."

"What do you mean by that?!" Paimon put her hands on her hips, puffing her cheeks. "There's so much good stuff here! And such a fancy wedding! And they didn't invite more people?!"

"Alright, enough wandering. Let's go find Ayaka."

Lumine dragged the floating Paimon into the room.

Inside, a group of attendants surrounded Kamisato Ayaka as they styled her hair and finished her makeup.

The moment Ayaka saw Lumine and Paimon, her eyes curved into crescents, her entire face glowing with happiness.

Paimon floated right up to her. "Hehe, judging by your expression, you already know why we're here, don't you?"

Lumine pulled a letter from her clothes and placed it gently into Ayaka's hands.

"This is from Mr. Kael."

Ayaka accepted it quickly, opened the envelope, and read every word carefully. A soft smile stayed on her lips the whole time, and tears shimmered faintly in her eyes…

---

At ten that night, twelve attendants carrying lanterns carved from pine guided the procession. Kael wore formal wedding attire, crown and ritual tablet included, as he made his way to the ceremonial hall.

The entire city of Inazuma looked like it was celebrating a festival. Lanterns lit every corner, and crowds lined the streets.

People had gathered from all over, packing both sides of the road in thick rows.

"Lord Kael, blessings to you!"

"You and the White Heron Princess must live happily ever after!"

Wherever the carriage passed, voices shouted warm blessings.

Slowly, the carriage rolled into the Kamisato estate, stopping before Ayaka's courtyard.

Kael stepped inside.

Ayaka sat gracefully in the center of the room, fully dressed in a pure-white Shiromuku, her silver-white hair and delicate features shining with an almost sacred beauty.

Kael had always associated weddings with brilliant red colors, and he'd always preferred the warmth of that festive atmosphere.

But seeing Ayaka like this—white silk, pale hair, serene eyes—he couldn't imagine any bride more suited to the Shiromuku than her.

Kael smiled and extended his hand.

"Ayaka, I'm here to take you home."

Ayaka's heart skipped several beats the moment she saw his face. Suddenly she felt nervous.

She slowly placed her hand in his.

The warmth in his palm seemed to travel straight into her chest.

Memories flickered through her mind like lantern slides—

Their first meeting…

Kael's gentle smile…

His tragic death at the hands of the Raiden Shogun…

His impossible resurrection…

And now, in this moment, it finally felt real.

She really had become Kael's bride…

---

Kael led Ayaka to the western hall, where guests were already gathered and waiting.

Hand in hand, the two of them walked to the main table as everyone rose to witness their arrival.

The wedding banquet officially began.

The guests knelt at their places, watching the couple with eyes full of blessings.

As Ayaka's elder brother and half a parental figure to them both, Kamisato Ayato stood first.

Holding his cup, he spoke on behalf of all the guests.

"Kael, Ayaka… as your brother, it brings me immense joy to witness your wedding today."

The usually composed, elegant clan head lost his calm. His eyes reddened as he looked at the two people he cherished most.

"From meeting, to understanding one another, to loving and choosing each other, your bond has crossed even death itself. It is a blessing granted by the heavens…"

"Treasure the happiness you've earned. May you remain together, always."

He downed the cup in one breath, tears gathering at the corners of his eyes.

The other guests raised their cups in unison.

"May you live a hundred years in harmony and joy."

"Captain! You and the White Heron Princess better stay happy forever!"

"Mr. Kael, we wish you both the very best!"

Kael and Ayaka exchanged a smile, picked up their own cups, and returned the toast.
