"!!"
Zhongli's eyes widened a little at Yanfei's declaration.
Was he truly getting old?
Were young people nowadays always this straightforward?
One meeting and they were ready to decide their whole future?
"Pa, pa, pa."
Venti, still sitting on the ground, clapped while giggling like a fool.
"Nice! Life is precious, but love is worth even more!"
Kael shot him a helpless look.
He had recited a classic poem from his old world to Venti once, but this… really wasn't the situation for it.
Hu Tao was just as shocked. Strangely, something about Yanfei's proclamation made her chest feel tight and uncomfortable.
She sneaked a glance at Kael, then pouted.
"Well, if that's the case, you two should be thanking me! If it weren't for me, you wouldn't have even met. I want Tianshu Meat from Liuli Pavilion! Golden Shrimp Balls from Wangshu Inn! Boiled Fish from Wanmin Restaurant! And…"
"All right, Director." Zhongli cut her off before she could list twenty more dishes.
Now that he knew Yanfei wasn't crying from actual injury or mistreatment, he finally relaxed.
"We'll take our leave."
Zhongli wanted to give the two youngsters time alone, so he dragged off the hands-on-hips Hu Tao and also hauled up the still-clapping, blissfully dazed Venti.
Yanfei had spoken so boldly when she grabbed Kael's hand earlier. But once everyone was gone and it was just the two of them, she suddenly realized what she'd done.
Their tightly clasped hands were still raised in the air.
A deep blush flooded her cheeks. Kael's hand felt unbearably warm, so hot that her palms started sweating.
Kael couldn't help laughing at the sight of her frozen, embarrassed pose.
Wasn't she the one who'd just shouted her feelings with full confidence?
Now she was shy?
He gave her hand a gentle tug, pulling her into his arms.
"Didn't the famous Legal Adviser say she wanted to sign a Contract with me?"
Yanfei's face burned as she found herself pressed against his chest. But her bright jade-green eyes never looked away from him.
"Both sides have to agree before you can sign a Contract. So do you agree?"
Kael didn't hesitate. "I agree."
[Yanfei Pain Value -30. Current Pain Value: 70.]
Hearing that answer, Yanfei lit up with a radiant smile.
"Then I'll draft the Contract right away. Let me tell you, Liyue has always been the City of Contracts. Rex Lapis is the God of Contracts, so a Contract is a real binding agreement. Don't think this is something you can just say casually."
"If you dare break our Contract, I'll show you the full force of my original move, Done Deal!"
Once all the sorrow inside her faded, Yanfei returned to her lively, energetic self. Her little mouth chattered nonstop.
Kael watched her with amusement, admiring how vibrant she looked.
This was the Yanfei he liked best.
He never wanted to see her drowning in grief again.
Once she started talking about her specialty, her enthusiasm grew and any lingering embarrassment vanished.
She stepped out of his arms with bright confidence.
"I'll start studying the law codes right now. I'll write the perfect Contract for us!"
Her eyes sparkled with determination, shining like warm jade gemstones polished to a brilliant glow.
She wanted to run home and begin drafting immediately.
But when she looked at Kael's face, she hesitated.
Her expression turned conflicted.
In the end, she chose to stay and savor more time with him.
Seeing Kael again filled her heart with joy, like she had regained something she thought she'd lost forever.
Right now she didn't want to be anywhere else. She only wanted to stay close to him.
"Kael, can we go out and have some fun?"
Yanfei wrapped her arms around his waist. "I want to go fishing."
When Kael didn't answer right away, she wiggled against him, voice soft and pleading.
"Please? It's not like we're in a hurry. I don't want to be apart from you so soon."
With her acting this adorable, what man could refuse?
Kael tapped her little nose. "Alright."
He accompanied Yanfei to the docks near Liyue Harbor.
Kael had never fished before. He had no idea how to even start.
"I'll teach you! Look, you swing the rod out like this, then just wait patiently~"
Once Kael was set up, Yanfei grabbed her own fishing rod, her eyes shining with competitive spirit.
"Hmph, I'm a pro. Watch me beat you."
Over the course of the afternoon, Kael learned exactly what it meant to have zero skill but endless enthusiasm.
Back in the Life Simulator, Yanfei had loved fishing.
So Kael assumed she'd be good at it in real life.
But by the end of the entire afternoon, her bucket was still completely empty.
Meanwhile, Kael had caught several fish without much effort. Not a bad haul for a beginner.
Yanfei stared at the fish swimming in his bucket, pursing her lips before breaking into a bright grin.
"Oh, I went easy on you since you're a beginner. Didn't expect you to actually do pretty well."
Seeing the look on Kael's face, her cheeks flushed again.
"Don't look at me like that! I was letting you win. On a normal day I'm not like this!"
"Of course, of course. Thank you for going easy on me, Miss Yanfei."
Yanfei flashed a mischievous smirk. "You're welcome~"
