"Sir, Nightshade reports a sharp spike in high-energy target activity someone's actively rounding up superhumans."
Nolan had just finished dismantling the last of Hydra's inner circle when Al's voice chimed in.
Oscorp's AI surveillance division, Nightshade, had flagged dozens of energy spikes across the East Coast. Mutations, energy fluctuations, Terrigen resonance patterns.
"They're hunting Inhumans," Nolan muttered.
Ever since the Terrigen crystal fallout had contaminated Earth's waters, mutations had surged within fish-based food chains. People who ingested them and those with latent Inhuman genes began to change.
It wasn't just random.
These were clean mutations. Purified. As if nature itself had refined the Terrigen Mist.
To Nolan, that meant genetic opportunity.
He didn't want every power. He was past that.
Now he was after precision: abilities with synergy. Potential that served a greater structure.
And now, Hive had returned.
"Let's hope Kaecilius doesn't botch this," Nolan said, voice low. "Bring me the real Hive."

Underground Facility, Unknown Location
For three hours, Gideon had waited in near-silence.
He was restless, his thoughts turbulent.
This was their last play.
Kaecilius had promised results. He was the only one left with the power and means to step through the dimensional gate, reach the alien world where Hive had been banished, and bring him home.
Gideon had heard nothing.
Then suddenly the stone archway in the center of the room shimmered with obsidian light. Reality warped.
Kaecilius stepped through, robes flowing, face calm.
And in his hand—
He dragged a body behind him.
A man. Or something like that.
He dropped the figure like discarded cargo. "If I'm not mistaken, this is your so-called messiah."
Gideon's eyes widened.
"Ward…?"
He recognized the face. Hydra's double-agent. The man they'd sent to infiltrate S.H.I.E.L.D.
But Kaecilius shook his head. "That's no agent."
The body twitched. Muscles shifted. Bones popped.
And then he stood.
Where once had been Grant Ward now stood a figure with tentacled strands flowing from his skull like living cords, his eyes glowing with predatory cunning.
Hive.
Gideon staggered back instinctively.
Hive smirked. "So… I was brought back by a sorcerer. How quaint."
Kaecilius didn't flinch. "Your disguise was weak. Next time, try hiding your essence better. Magic sees through lies."
Hive's tendrils hissed. "And yet here I stand. You did well."
Kaecilius crossed his arms. "Don't flatter yourself. I've seen gods fall."
Hive chuckled. "So arrogant… Earth has changed."
He looked to Gideon. "You—explain."
Gideon nodded and motioned for screens to be wheeled in.
Overlapping news feeds. Oscorp's rise. Nolan's attacks. The annihilation of Hydra's leadership. The fall of Strucker. Zemo's death.
Hive's grin faded.
"So. My kingdom… was torn apart."
He looked toward the ceiling as if weighing the stars.
"Then it's time to rebuild it."
---
Gideon's voice trembled. "We've lost our cells. Our agents. Half the Council. The U.S. government has turned. Even S.H.I.E.L.D. is hunting us again. The only one with real power left—"
"—is Superman," Hive interrupted, eyes darkening.
"That's what they call him now, yes," Gideon said. "He's destroying everything."
Hive's tendrils writhed. "Then we'll infect everyone."
Gideon's daughter, Spence, stepped forward. "We've already begun gathering Inhumans. But S.H.I.E.L.D. is interfering—so is Oscorp."
Hive flexed his arms slowly. His voice lowered. "Then we unleash them. I'll reclaim them. Every Inhuman will bend the knee."
Kaecilius raised a brow. "If they don't?"
Hive smirked, baring jagged teeth. "They will. Or they'll be consumed."
Kaecilius stepped toward Gideon. "He's yours now. But don't expect him to follow orders. He is the order."
Gideon could only nod.
Hive turned to the screens again, now focused on one image: Nolan standing tall amid the ruins of a Hydra base.
"So this is the new god of Earth…" Hive murmured.
"Well then…"
"Let's see whose throne is higher."
