Otohime! Rin was taken aback the moment he heard the name. Wasn't she the queen of Fishman Island and the mother of Princess Shirahoshi, the ancient weapon Poseidon? Why would someone want her assassinated? Rin suddenly remembered back in his past life, he had watched that episode in One Piece where Queen Otohime was killed. It happened while she was gathering signatures in the town square to promote peaceful relations with humans. Then, from somewhere in the crowd, a bullet suddenly pierced through her chest Otohime was killed in cold blood, and the one responsible behind the scenes was Hody Jones.
"Princess Otohime of Fishman Island?" the man inside the room repeated, clearly startled by the name for some reason.
"That's right. I want you to kill that pacifist queen, no matter the method and make sure humanity takes the blame for it!" the other voice responded, his tone laced with excitement and malice.
At that moment, Rin's suspicions were confirmed. The voice belonged to none other than Hody Jones the very same Fishman extremist who opposed coexistence with humans and sought to resurrect Arlong's violent legacy.
"But why? She doesn't seem to have done anything to you directly," Hody asked, unusually curious for someone who usually didn't question orders.
"That's none of your concern. Just complete the mission," the second speaker snapped, clearly unwilling to divulge more than necessary.
"Fine but you'd better have the rest of my payment ready once it's done," Hody said gruffly. Then came the unmistakable screech of a chair being pushed back across the floor.
"Damn!" Rin cursed under his breath. He knew the two were about to exit. Thinking quickly, he darted into the room next door using Soru, one of the Rokushiki techniques from the Marines' combat arts, vanishing in a blur just as the doorknob started to turn.
The door opened, and out stepped a tall, muscular figure with a fin sprouting from his back undeniably a Fishman. He wore a marine-style hat low over his eyes and cautiously scanned the hallway before pulling the brim down even further and walking away.
Behind him, another man emerged his face hidden beneath a dark hood, his form draped in a thick traveling cloak. Whoever this was, his identity was concealed with deliberate care.
"Whew, that was close." Rin waited until they were both gone before stepping out. Had he delayed by even a second, he would've been exposed. Fortunately, Soru let him escape unnoticed.
"I just wanted to find the bathroom…" Rin muttered, realizing how far he'd strayed from his original intention. Just as he was about to leave, something on the wall caught his eye. It wasn't the painting itself, but the wall behind it.
"Knock knock." He tapped the panel softly. It sounded hollow.
Immediately, Rin activated his Observation Haki, letting his senses flood the space behind the wall. Within moments, he grasped the layout of the hidden structure—it wasn't just a room. It was an entire facility.
"So that's how it is…" Rin murmured, deactivating his Haki. He quickly found a restroom, handled his business, and returned to the restaurant.
"Rin, what took you so long?" Casa asked, concerned. They'd been waiting for quite a while.
"I ran into something strange, but it's handled. Let's go," Rin replied, brushing it off. What mattered now was hurrying to Fishman Island to warn Otohime.
"Alright, let's move." The crew paid the bill. Rin alone had racked up more than 2,000 Berries in food an impressive sum for a single meal.
As they walked out of the shipyard and headed toward their ship, Rin suddenly turned to the others.
"That place we just ate at it's hiding something huge," he said with a sly grin.
"Well, of course. Who opens a restaurant inside a ship repair yard?" Enel asked sarcastically.
"It's more than that. It's actually a front for a black market weapons factory," Rin explained seriously.
Back when he was in the hidden room, Rin had used his Observation Haki to scan the entire area. What he sensed wasn't just dining rooms and staff quarters. Behind the walls, several compartments contained weapons rifles, sea stone shackles, explosive charges. It was all hidden beneath the facade of a shady eatery.
"So it's a weapons plant disguised as a restaurant… which is disguised as a shipyard?" Artoria said, dizzy at the layered deception.
"Whatever it is, it doesn't concern us anymore," Rin said, ending the conversation. "Our priority is getting to Fishman Island."
Back at their ship, the coating had already been applied to the vessel's hull. Casa confirmed they were ready to depart.
"Captain, we're good to go," he reported.
"Then let's move!" Rin ordered. Every second counted now every second brought him closer to preventing a tragedy.
Out on the open sea near the Sabaody Archipelago, a giant whirlpool churned ominously. This was the famous descending current that led to Fishman Island, located 10,000 meters beneath the surface. Rin directed Casa to steer the coated ship into the spiral.
The ship submerged, wrapped in a protective bubble, and followed the ocean's downward flow. If all went smoothly, they'd reach Fishman Island within the hour.
But Rin couldn't relax.
All throughout the descent, his thoughts circled around one question who was the cloaked man speaking to Hody Jones?
What was his purpose in framing humans for Otohime's death?
Based on the tone and goals of their conversation, Rin had narrowed it down to two possibilities.
The first was a World Noble a Celestial Dragon. These tyrants profited from the slave trade, and if Otohime succeeded in bridging peace between humans and Fishmen, their grip on the slave market particularly of mermaids would weaken drastically. That gave them ample motive.
The second was Fisher Tiger. Though unlikely, Rin had to consider him. Before his death, Tiger had been Otohime's ideological opposite. She believed in peace with humans. He, on the other hand, despised them, after escaping the Celestial Dragons' slavery and founding the Sun Pirates.
But Fisher Tiger was long dead.
So, only one suspect remained: a Celestial Dragon, using Hody Jones as a tool to manipulate public perception and reignite conflict.
Rin made a decision then and there.
Once they arrived at Fishman Island, he would track down Hody Jones and eliminate him before history could repeat itself on the day Otohime gathers her final signatures.
