Konoha Academy was in chaos during the graduation exams—Dan Katō reported being attacked by an unknown individual.
He didn't even need to explain. The size 43 footprint on his backside said it all. It wasn't until another teacher pointed it out to him, smiling, that he realized what had happened.
Because the attack method was so unusual, the teachers didn't take it too seriously—they assumed it was just a prank.
Still, since something had happened, they needed to get to the bottom of it. And so… Obito became the scapegoat.
"Obito, did you see the person who attacked me just now?" Dan KatĹŤ had regained his composure, his demeanor calm and refined.
Obito wore a bitter expression. If word got out that his teacher had attacked the Ninja Academy, no matter how you looked at it, his teacher would be in serious trouble.
"I didn't see clearly," Obito replied, out of a sense of loyalty.
"Didn't see clearly, huh? So that means you did see them." Thanks to Akio's genjutsu, Dan had only sensed that someone was there—he hadn't actually seen the attacker's appearance.
"Then describe what you did see." Dan suddenly pulled out a sketchpad, striking the pose of a modern police artist.
Obito's face fell even more. He wanted to say he didn't know, but after a brief pause, he reconsidered...
"The person had a round face."
Dan nodded. "Go on."
"Thick lips, a flat nose, triangular eyes…"
Dan continued nodding while sketching.
"Big ears, kind of sticking out... and his hair was a bit shorter than yours, sensei."
As Dan finished the drawing, his brows furrowed more and more tightly.
"You're sure this is what the attacker looked like?" He held up the drawing for Obito to see.
Obito's eye twitched violently, but he nodded.
Dan sighed. He didn't know what to say. Clearly, Obito recognized the attacker and was trying to cover for him…
"Dan, who attacked you?"
"Hokage-sama." Dan quickly stood up as Hiruzen arrived, having rushed over upon hearing about the incident.
Hiruzen immediately noticed the sketch in Dan's hands. When he took a look at it, his expression twitched.
"Dan, you…"
"Hokage-sama, this is a sketch of the attacker as described by Uchiha Obito."
"Uchiha Obito?" Hiruzen paused.
He had been paying close attention to Obito in recent years, especially since Akio had taken him on as an apprentice.
"So this happened during Obito's exam, and he saw the attacker's face?"
"You didn't even see the attacker's face?" Hiruzen asked Dan before he could answer again.
But then Hiruzen nodded. "I see. Understood. This incident ends here. We'll let the Anbu handle the investigation from now on."
Hiruzen had already guessed the true cause of the disruption: Akio had shown up to watch Obito's graduation exam. Looking at the sketch in his hand, he couldn't help but smile bitterly.
"This drawing's going to be really useful. I'll be taking it." He walked off with the picture, leaving Dan completely baffled.
"What's this sketch even good for?" Dan muttered, then looked at Obito. "Alright, you're free to go. Tell your classmates the exams are resuming!"
Hiruzen, sketch in hand, left Konoha Academy in high spirits and made his way directly to Akio's Kiboku-dĹŤ shop.
After watching Obito's exam, Akio had returned to his shop to wait for Obito and Rin to come report their success. Instead, Hiruzen showed up first.
"Being Hokage suits you, huh? Tobirama never left the Hokage Office in the middle of the day like this."
Hiruzen shook his head and handed over the sketch.
"Whoa!" Akio jumped. "Who drew this male version of Sister Feng?"
"Sister Feng?" Hiruzen was puzzled.
"Ah, never mind. What, are you asking me to give someone art lessons? This level's beyond saving." Akio gave a half-smile.
But Hiruzen's expression turned serious. "Konoha Academy was attacked just now. This is a sketch of the attacker. Please take a look."
"The Academy was attacked?" Akio froze. How had he not sensed that? "Was anyone hurt?"
Hiruzen maintained a solemn expression. "No, only Dan KatĹŤ was kicked. This sketch was drawn based on a description from Uchiha Obito, who was undergoing his exam."
Akio stood still for a moment, staring at Hiruzen's grave expression. Then he took a deep breath.
"Unbelievable. I never thought you'd be this kind of person, Hiruzen."
"You want to kick me too, don't you?"
Hiruzen flinched and quickly made his exit. "Elder Akio, I've got other matters to attend to. I'll be going now."
Akio watched Hiruzen leave, holding the sketch and chuckling bitterly.
Meanwhile, back at the Academy, Obito was walking alongside Rin.
"Rin, our teacher really is amazing. He kicked Dan-sensei so hard, the guy couldn't even fight back."
"Yeah, I heard."
"Good thing I was clever enough to cover for him…"
"Do you think he'd teach us some new jutsu?" Obito wondered aloud.
"What kind of jutsu would you like to learn, Rin?"
…
Obito kept rambling all the way to the Kiboku-dĹŤ shop. Rin could only smile patiently.
"Sensei!" Obito shouted the moment he arrived, proudly showing off his new forehead protector.
"All this excitement over becoming a mere genin. Can't you have a little more ambition? Right, Rin?" Akio teased.
Rin nodded with a smile.
Obito's face fell, but he quickly perked up again.
"Genin is just the first step! I'll become a chunin, then a jonin, and then Hokage!"
"Mm. Go take a nap. You can have it all in your dreams," Akio jabbed again.
"Sensei, can't you be a little encouraging?"
"Fine. Encouragement. You'll graduate at nine, make chunin at ten, jonin at twelve, clan head at fifteen, invincible by eighteen, and Hokage by twenty, leading Konoha to a glorious future…"
"That was completely insincere, Sensei!"
Akio just chuckled and pulled the sketch from his sleeve.
"My legendary reputation is ruined because of you, and you still want encouragement?"
Obito's eye twitched. "Didn't the Hokage take that sketch with him? How did it end up back with you?"
"The Third came all the way to my shop just to mock me—so now it's mine again."
Rin gave Obito a weird look and tugged on his sleeve. "Obito… this is how you 'covered' for Sensei?"
Face stiff, Obito nodded firmly. "That's right! No one can trace Sensei from that picture!"
Akio sighed. "Fine, since you meant well, I won't pursue it. Besides, today's your big day."
"My… big day…" Obito's face turned bright red—he was nearly steaming.
"Come on, let's go. I'll treat you to some ramen made personally by my daughter, Sara, to celebrate."
Obito and Rin followed joyfully, unaware…
This was Akio's way of getting revenge over that ridiculous sketch.
