The battle between Future Akio and the Sage of Six Paths raged on for over half an hour. Akio, having opened the Fifth Gate, was nearly drained of chakra as he fought to protect the Dragon Vein altar. Only then did the clash finally come to a halt.

The white glow surrounding Future Akio was lasting longer and longer—it was clear he was reaching his limit and would soon be pulled back to his original timeline. Meanwhile, the White Zetsu possessed by the Sage of Six Paths was also nearing disintegration.

"Return to the time you belong to."

Future Akio chuckled. "Uzumaki Distraction, buy me five seconds. I'm charging up a finishing move to take him down."

"You got it!" Akio instinctively responded and rushed forward—only to realize something was off.

The Sage of Six Paths–possessed White Zetsu lunged at him. Akio sighed.

"Well, that's me too, after all. If I can help, I should. Seventh Gate—Gate of Wonder, open!"

He had been observing the fight from the sidelines for a while, but it wasn't until direct combat that he truly felt the difference. Even now, with his power fully unleashed, Akio had strength nearly at the Six Paths level—yet he was still easily overwhelmed by the Sage's Truth-Seeking Staff.

Sent flying backward, Akio could only laugh bitterly to himself. "Figures. I couldn't hold him for more than two seconds."

Gritting his teeth, he shouted, "I can't let the title 'Uzumaki Distraction' be ruined here! I have to last at least five seconds!"

"Sage Art—Dust Release: Human Realm Separation Technique!"

He poured out half of the chakra remaining in his body to unleash the most powerful Dust Release he could manage.

The massive white crystalline attack, several kilometers in diameter, warped space itself and struck the Sage of Six Paths mid-air. The Sage transformed his staff into a black membrane, directly blocking the Dust Release. Even the shockwave was completely nullified.

Akio landed just then, barely steadying himself.

"That probably didn't do much either. But five seconds have passed. It's all up to your finisher now," he said, turning around—only to freeze in place.

At the altar behind him, a massive burst of blue light erupted. Future Akio had just absorbed both Minato's sealing formula and the Dragon Vein into his body.

"What kind of ridiculous ultimate move is this? Why do I have such a bad feeling about it?" Akio twitched at the corner of his mouth, anxiety building in his chest.

"Thank you, Uzumaki Distraction," Future Akio's voice came from beside him. A red-haired girl appeared next to Akio—it was Sara.

"She really is my descendant. I guess that makes her yours too, in a way. Please take good care of her. I'm sorry for destroying Rƍran. I'm heading back to the past now. You go on being single."

"As thanks, let me spoil something that'll happen a bit over six months from now. Don't be too shocked
"

As his voice faded, the blue light slowly dimmed. The altar, the Dragon Vein, and Future Akio vanished along with it.

Akio stood there, dumbfounded. Even now, he still had no idea what had just happened.

"Something happens in six months? Wait, forget six months from now—what just happened now?"

The Sage of Six Paths suddenly appeared beside him, and Akio didn't even move. He hoped the Sage would give him an explanation.

Instead, the Sage gave him a look that could only be described as gentle pity—like he was looking at an idiot—before dissolving into a puddle of sludge. The White Zetsu had disintegrated.

Akio glanced around. The area had been reduced to a crater-ridden desert. Only he and the unconscious Sara remained.

Just then, a line of kanji flashed before his eyes:

*"You have witnessed and completely altered the plot of the Naruto movie: The Lost Tower. Witness Points earned: 30 (10)."

Despite gaining 300 Witness Points, Akio didn't feel happy at all. He had a sneaking suspicion that his future self had set him up.

"If he never came to this timeline, that would mean I went back to the past. Which would mean Sara is my descendant. At some point in the past, I must have stopped being single
"

"But if that's the case
Sara's still my descendant, and yet I didn't do anything. And that guy—my future self—married the same woman twice? Or maybe even multiple times
?"

The more Akio thought about it, the more disheartened he became. Being tricked by your own future self—who could even complain about that? And when he recalled the look the Sage gave him before disappearing, his heart grew even heavier.

"I really am an idiot."

The battle had ended, but waves of chakra signatures were closing in—likely scouting ninjas from various villages investigating the disturbance.

Akio glanced at the still-unconscious Sara, sighed, and used Body Flicker to leave the area.

There was no way to explain what had just happened, and he wasn't in the mood to shamelessly claim he'd just fought the Sage of Six Paths.

"But that Dust Release technique earlier
pretty sure a lot of people saw that."

Dozens of miles away, in the heart of the desert, Akio used Earth Release to craft a stone bed. He gently laid Sara down and began to worry.

The Kingdom of Rƍran had been completely wiped out. Akio doubted anyone had survived the aftermath of that battle.

Sara had only been queen for a single day before her kingdom was destroyed. Akio didn't even know how to begin comforting her.

"My future self took all the glory and left me with the mess. Where's the justice in that?"

As he thought about it, something started to bother him.

"Was this time travel through a parallel dimension, or into our world's actual past? If he altered the past, and I didn't go back, then shouldn't he lose the memory of having gone back
? What's the point of going back, then? Just to screw me over?"

Time travel was such a headache. Akio thought about it so much he managed to confuse himself.

Only the sound of soft sobbing beside him brought him back to his senses.

"Crying the moment you wake up
talk about bad timing," Akio sighed. He felt helpless. The worst-case scenario had arrived.

"I didn't even do anything, and now suddenly I have
a daughter?" Akio wasn't even sure if Sara was his daughter, granddaughter, or great-granddaughter. His future self never explained it clearly.

"But somehow, I feel like she doesn't really have anything to do with me
" Then again, that future version was still him. Akio sighed once more. "Still, I can't just abandon her."

With no choice, Akio stepped forward to comfort her.

Sara already knew about Rƍran's destruction. While in Future Akio's space-time realm, she had glimpsed part of the future—enough to break down in tears.

"Stop crying already. If anyone should be crying, it's me," Akio muttered, shaking his head. "You lost your kingdom, sure—but you gained a father
 probably."

"And I didn't do a single thing
but I gained a daughter. Hmm
 actually, that's not so bad."

Letting out a long breath, Akio smiled faintly. After so many years of solitude, suddenly gaining a daughter didn't feel so bad at all.
