Chapter 414 - Cain's Memories

Though Luoshu still didn't realize that the man named "Jesus" from over two millennia ago was actually a predecessor of the "One Who Reveals Truth," hearing the name from Cain's lips made him pay close attention.

Who was Cain?

He was the legendary "Firstborn of Man"—no mere "rich second-gen" or "nepo baby" could compare.

According to the Bible, God created Adam and Eve.

After they ate the forbidden fruit, they bore the first natural-born human—Cain.

Abel? Forever the little brother.

As for the rumors of fratricide and Cain becoming the first vampire—if Cain didn't bring it up, Luoshu wasn't about to ask.

But those familiar with the Bible knew a little secret: Cain and Abel had jobs.

Unlike their carefree parents, they were humanity's first workers.

Cain was a farmer. Abel was a shepherd—representing mankind's earliest professions.

So why did Cain kill Abel?

Some theorized it was jealousy.

In monotheistic Christianity, Abel, as a shepherd, was akin to a high priest—offering sacrifices to God and earning divine favor.

Meanwhile, Cain, the elder brother, was just a dirt-poor farmer, toiling his life away with no chance to curry favor with the "boss" (i.e., God).

Consumed by envy, Cain murdered Abel, trying to take his place—only to be cursed by God and cast down as the progenitor of vampires.

This was evident in Cain's ability: "Enemy of Life."

You'd think it was because he killed Abel?

No.

"Enemy of Life" meant "wherever he walked, not a blade of grass grew."

It symbolized Cain's hatred for farming, the shame of his past.

But all this was just Bible lore—tightly intertwined with Christianity, founded by Jesus Christ.

So Jesus was the key.

Now that Cain was about to speak of him, Luoshu listened intently.

Cain's expression grew distant as he recalled:

"Jesus… I remember him. Founder of Christianity. Died on March 31, 33 AD, Thursday, by the Lance of Longinus. He was 33. Before his death…"

Suddenly, he froze.

Of all times to glitch!

Without hesitation, Luoshu hit Cain with Enhanced Memory.

Cain's eyes widened. "I remember now! He was the 'One Who Reveals Truth'—your predecessor! What killed him wasn't the Lance of Longinus, but the Meme-Longinus! The historical descriptions of the lance were just believers misremembering the meme-weapon in their minds!"

Now Luoshu understood.

Jesus—the man who created the conceptual god "Yahweh"—had still fallen to the Meme-Longinus.

"What about 'God'?" Luoshu pressed.

Did Jesus leave behind a legacy like Xiu Si? A final weapon called "God"?

Cain shook his head. "The conceptual 'God' existed only in Jesus's mind. It vanished with him. What people worship now is a hollow shell."

Luoshu found Jesus' methods eerily familiar—just like his own divine-rod abilities!

Gather believers, amplify spiritual power.

No wonder Christians called "God and Jesus" their Lord—they meant the Lord of Anomalies!

Milestone Effect #3!

No wonder Christianity preached the Holy Trinity: Father, Son, Holy Spirit.

On the surface, Jesus was the Son, "God" the Father—but the true core was the Holy Spirit (Jesus's consciousness).

This also explained Prester John—he'd discovered religion's secret and tried to ascend to godhood himself.

Was he also a past "One Who Reveals Truth"?

Maybe.

If Jesus was one, and Xiu Si was one… why not Prester John?

Could Luoshu just inherit Christianity's 1 billion+ believers?

His spiritual power would eclipse "God's" instantly!

But he dismissed the idea.

"God" had already guarded against this.

Two thousand years ago, he'd planted the lie that the Meme-Longinus was the holy Lance of Longinus.

Any successor claiming to be Jesus' heir would get shot dead on the spot!

If Luoshu used Great Sound Is Faint to declare himself Jesus reborn, he'd instantly face billions of lances—annihilating him.

That was probably how Jesus died. Betrayed by infected believers.

"Clever bastard."

If Luoshu wanted power, he'd have to grow his own cult—no shortcuts.

Then another thought struck him.

"Did 'God' start calling himself 'Yahweh' after Jesus died? To hijack the faith?"

Cain nodded. "Exactly."

The truth unraveled.

After learning about Jesus and the Meme-Longinus, Luoshu turned to Cain's own secrets.

The tale of Cain and Abel was right there in the Old Testament—Christianity's foundation.

If Cain knew about Jesus, he had to know the Old Testament.

(The Old Testament was originally Jewish scripture, later adopted by Christianity and merged with the New Testament as the Bible.)

So Jesus was both Christianity's Messiah and Judaism's promised savior.

And Cain—the first murderer in both religions—what was his deal?

Luoshu sensed a deeper truth.

"Do you know the Old Testament well?"

The moment he asked, Cain clutched his head, writhing in agony.

"Don't ask me! I can't remember!"

Even Enhanced Memory couldn't breach his self-imposed mental block.

Luoshu backed off. Pushing further might get him killed.

This was the guy who murdered his own brother—and after centuries with "God," who knew how unhinged he'd become?

He deactivated Enhanced Memory, letting Cain recover.

Finally, Cain rasped: "Don't make me remember. As for past 'Ones Who Reveal Truth'… just know they all failed. No lessons worth learning."

Luoshu nodded.

Today, Cain had helped immensely—shedding light on a 2,000-year-old secret and the Meme-Longinus' nature.

Not a bad ally.

Now—the 15-minute countdown neared zero.

Site-17 was about to be erased from history.
