Ganzhou and Yuzhou are located at the border, where the people of Ganshui often live alongside the 'Yangyue' barbarians, so they have historically been known as the southern barbarian lands.
Yuzhou is abundant in jade marrow, and it too lies at the border.
When Xu Qing travels between the two states, he often has to pass through the Lingnan area. But there, high above the boundless clouds, he sees a red aura rising from Fuzhou and Panzhou regions, like blazing flames scorching the sky.
Apart from the abnormal sky phenomena, with the art of geomancy, Xu Qing observes the earth qi network of Lingnan and sees that between the mountains and rivers, everything is heavy and dead, filled with accumulated evil qi and murky, noxious smoke.
