Chapter 356: The Sacred Spirit Pool, Spirit Fish, and Spiritual Explosions
"Extraterritorial demons?"
Outside the Sacred Spirit Peak in the ancient secret realm, Xiao Tiance's expression turned serious. While he didn't have much firsthand experience with extraterritorial demons, he was well aware that they were not to be trifled with.
"That's right," Fatty Doll said, his tone grave. "Although the sect master claimed to have killed one back then, the body was never found. Considering the strange methods of these demons, it's entirely possible that the one supposedly killed by the sect master could still be alive."
He paused before adding, "Of course, this is only a possibility. If you're hesitant to go in, I can suggest another place that's also ideal for your breakthrough to Heaven Supreme."
Fatty Doll wore a faint smile, but his eyes scrutinized Xiao Tiance, as if testing his resolve.
Hearing this, Xiao Tiance couldn't help but laugh.
"What, Fatty Doll, do you think I'm a coward? Afraid of a demon whose life or death is uncertain? If I were that timid, I might as well find a piece of tofu and smash my head against it."
Without hesitation, Xiao Tiance took out the Heavenly Dao Mirror and began channeling his spiritual energy into it. Turning to Jiuyuan and Shi Hao, he instructed, "Whatever's inside is unknown. You two stay out here and keep watch for me."
"Understood, Lord Tiance. Be careful," the two replied in unison.
Xiao Tiance nodded before glancing at Fatty Doll. "What about you? Will you stay here with them, or should I take you inside?"
"I'll come with you," Fatty Doll said, chuckling. "There's something in the Sacred Spirit Pool I need, so this is a good opportunity for me to retrieve it."
Hearing this, Xiao Tiance wasted no time. He poured more spiritual energy into the Heavenly Dao Mirror, which soon emitted a bright beam of light that shot toward the protective array surrounding the Sacred Spirit Peak.
"Buzz!"
The mountain trembled slightly as an incredibly dense wave of spiritual energy surged out from within, far more potent than anything Xiao Tiance had ever encountered, even during his breakthrough to Earth Supreme.
"Quick, get inside," Fatty Doll urged. "The opening will only grow wider, and the energy will start leaking out."
Xiao Tiance had already prepared to act and didn't need further prompting. In a flash, he darted into the Sacred Spirit Peak.
Inside the Sacred Spirit Peak
Once inside, the protective array behind him sealed shut, cutting off the outside world. Xiao Tiance found himself in an environment of overwhelming spiritual energy, so thick it had condensed into liquid form. In some places, it had even crystallized into solid structures.
"Unbelievable," Xiao Tiance muttered, his voice tinged with awe. "This place lives up to its reputation. To think a grandmaster level spirit gathering array has concentrated spiritual energy here for tens of thousands of years... I've never seen anything like it."
Fatty Doll, floating nearby, chuckled. "This is nothing. Wait until you see the Sacred Spirit Pool at the summit. That's where the true wonders lie."
Despite the encouragement, Xiao Tiance couldn't help but notice Fatty Doll's subtle hints of mistrust. On one hand, the spirit had given him priceless treasures, including the Heavenly Dao Myriad Tribulations Body and the sect master's battle formation notes. On the other, his words carried a lingering skepticism.
Whatever the case, Xiao Tiance decided to set these thoughts aside for now. His priority was to ascend to the Heaven Supreme level. Everything else could wait.
With that resolve, he activated the two master level spirit arrays inscribed on his body and began ascending the Sacred Spirit Peak.
The Sacred Spirit Pool
After about ten minutes, Xiao Tiance reached the summit, enveloped in a thick, misty fog. Occasionally, distant booming sounds echoed, reminiscent of explosions.
"Those are spiritual explosions," Fatty Doll explained. **"The spirit gathering array has concentrated spiritual energy here to such an extent that it occasionally destabilizes, causing bursts of energy. While the explosions look dangerous, they're actually harmless. In fact, the energy released during a spiritual explosion is purer and can be directly absorbed into your body.
"As for the Sacred Spirit Pool,"** he continued, pointing to the center of the fog, "it's right ahead. In its waters, you'll find Spirit Fish. Over the past thousands of years, these fish have likely reached the strength of Supreme beings. Consuming them can enhance your physical body and accelerate your breakthrough to Heaven Supreme."
Fatty Doll paused, a hint of warning in his voice. "However, these Spirit Fish are incredibly fast. Even back then, when they were weaker, it took significant effort for Earth Supreme elders to catch them. After thousands of years, their speed and strength must have increased dramatically."
Hearing this, Xiao Tiance nodded in acknowledgment. While he knew nothing about the Sacred Spirit Pool beforehand, his spiritual senses confirmed the presence of powerful entities in the water, their strength rivaling that of Supreme beings.
"Understood. Let's begin," Xiao Tiance said, taking a step toward the Sacred Spirit Pool.
Additionally, these creatures were incredibly fast. If not for Xiao Tiance's soul power, which had already reached the peak of Emperor level, it would have been impossible to track them.
"Phew!"
Taking another deep breath, Xiao Tiance spoke. "Alright, I understand. Go ahead and retrieve whatever you need from the Sacred Spirit Pool. Don't worry about me."
"Mmm, be careful. These Spirit Fish aren't ordinary. Each carries a trace of true dragon bloodline. Not only are they extremely fast, but they're also quite troublesome. Even though your strength is just shy of the Heaven Supreme level, you might still find it hard to handle them," Fatty Doll reminded.
"What? True dragon bloodline?" Xiao Tiance was stunned. True dragon bloodline in this place? That sounded like a joke.
Seeing his disbelief, Fatty Doll explained, **"According to the records in the Heavenly Dao Sect's archives, the Sacred Spirit Peak got its name because a true dragon fell here before its death. Due to the immense respect true dragons commanded in the Great Thousand World, the peak was named Sacred Spirit.
"The Spirit Fish in the Sacred Spirit Pool are said to have fed on the dragon's flesh, and through a series of fortunate events, they absorbed its bloodline into their bodies. So, be cautious. I won't be able to help you. All I can do is wish you luck."**
After saying that, Fatty Doll transformed into a beam of light and shot into the white mist.
Watching him leave, Xiao Tiance paused in thought for a moment before diving into the mist himself.
The Sacred Spirit Pool
"Roar!"
As soon as Xiao Tiance approached the surface of the Sacred Spirit Pool, he heard a faint dragon roar from below.
Looking down, he saw countless dragon shaped shadows swimming through the pool. Occasionally, creatures that resembled both fish and dragons leaped from the water, only to dive back in.
"These must be the Spirit Fish Fatty Doll mentioned," Xiao Tiance thought, marveling at the sight. "Incredible. Through my senses, I can feel immense energy within their bodies. That must be the key to enhancing my physical strength."
With that thought, he controlled his descent into the pool.
The moment his body touched the water, an immense force struck him, nearly knocking him over.
"Bang! Bang! Bang!"
Before he could fully recover, several more impacts followed. While Xiao Tiance didn't feel any pain thanks to the grandmaster level arrays protecting his body he was still being thrown around due to the water's resistance.
"Heh, they've got strong territorial instincts," he said with a laugh.
Seeing the creatures responsible for the collisions, Xiao Tiance decided not to retaliate. Instead, he allowed himself to be submerged completely, feeling his pores greedily absorb the pure spiritual energy.
The pool wasn't so much filled with water as it was with liquid spiritual energy. Its purity was unmatched, so much so that it didn't even require conversion before entering his body.
Realizing this, Xiao Tiance ignored the Spirit Fish that occasionally slammed into him and instead focused on his cultivation.
**"What an incredible place. No wonder Fatty Doll said this was the perfect spot for breaking through to the Heaven Supreme level. With this level of spiritual energy absorption, it's hard to imagine a better environment. If only I could take this peak with me...
"When I establish my superpower in the future, opening a place like this to others would make even Heaven Supreme experts flock to join."**
However, the thought raised a question in his mind. If the Sacred Spirit Peak was so famous, why hadn't the Western Heavenly Battle Emperor tried to claim it?
Shaking his head, Xiao Tiance decided to set the question aside.
"No matter. For now, I'll focus on cultivation. With my current spiritual energy reserves and absorption speed, it'll take at least half a month to reach saturation."
He quickly activated his techniques, transforming into a vortex that continuously pulled spiritual energy from the pool.
With every passing minute, his aura grew stronger. The environment was so conducive to cultivation that it left Xiao Tiance in a state of pure bliss.
"Boom!"
A sudden spiritual explosion occurred nearby, releasing an exceptionally pure burst of energy. Being so close, Xiao Tiance absorbed the energy instantly, feeling his body relax as his pores opened fully.
"So this is the pure energy from a spiritual explosion," he thought, deeply impressed. "It's even purer than what I can refine on my own."
However, spiritual explosions were unpredictable, and even with his powerful soul senses, he couldn't anticipate where or when they would occur. Resigned, Xiao Tiance continued his steady absorption of the pool's energy.
Time Passed
As Xiao Tiance's aura intensified day by day, the Spirit Fish in the pool grew increasingly restless. Every few seconds, one of them would crash into him.
Yet, as time went on, the collisions had less and less effect. The protective arrays around Xiao Tiance rebounded the impacts, sending the Spirit Fish tumbling away. This only made the creatures more agitated, thrashing violently in the surrounding waters.
"Roar!"
A deafening dragon roar suddenly echoed through the pool, silencing the Spirit Fish. The once aggressive creatures stilled, and some even sank to the bottom, as though paralyzed or lifeless.
At that moment, a shadow darted through the water with incredible speed. Even Xiao Tiance, with his sharp senses, couldn't fully discern its form.
"Hmm? The smell of blood?"
