Chapter 309 - Chapter 309: Zeng Yaoyao and the Blue Jade Sect of the Blood Puppet Clan

Chapter 309: Zeng Yaoyao and the Blue Jade Sect of the Blood Puppet Clan

"Damn it! Another sneak attack?!"

The Chase in the Forest

On the King's Continent, just outside Chaotic City, deep in the forest, a young man sprinted desperately. His face was grim, and the hairs on the back of his neck stood on end as a sword hurtled toward him.

The young man cursed inwardly, knowing he wouldn't be in such a dire position if not for the persistent foe. This opponent wasn't particularly strong, but their underhanded, relentless sneak attacks were what made them so troublesome.

If it weren't for the young man's exceptionally sturdy body comparable to an eighth grade Sovereign he would have been killed by one of the earlier ambushes.

This youth was none other than Xiao Tiance's close companion, Xiao Tianming, whose safety had been at the forefront of Tiance's worries.

Staving Off Death

Clang!

Xiao Tianming raised a sword retrieved from his interspatial ring, parrying the incoming blade. But, as always, every block wasted precious time. This allowed his pursuers to close in even more.

"Damned vermin," Tianming muttered through gritted teeth, his face full of disdain. "Just wait until my brother Tiance finds me. When that happens, I'll peel the skin off every one of you!"

Tianming cursed under his breath as he pivoted on his heels and sprinted away again. Although his pursuers weren't particularly powerful none were higher than Sovereign grade, and the strongest among them had barely passed the Spirit Energy Trial he was at a severe disadvantage. Without access to his dou qi or spiritual energy, he had no means of effectively retaliating.

If not for the spirit array jade talisman that Xiao Tiance had prepared for him prior to their arrival in the Great Thousand World, Tianming would already have been captured. Using the talisman, he had trapped over ten Sovereign grade pursuers in a powerful spirit array, killing several of them.

Relentless Pursuit

"After him!"

A man clad in black robes clearly the leader gave the command, smirking as he watched Tianming's retreating figure. "Don't let him escape. His body alone is worth a fortune."

"Yes, Lord Rongguang!"

The group responded in unison and continued their relentless chase.

For hours, the pursuit continued: Tianming fleeing with every ounce of strength, occasionally engaging in brief skirmishes. But the toll on his stamina was mounting. Unlike spirit or dou qi, physical strength doesn't regenerate as quickly, and without external support, exhaustion was inevitable.

Eventually, Tianming stumbled into an ambush. Ahead of him stood several Sovereign grade experts, including two who had previously escaped the confines of his spirit array talisman.

A Cornered Prey

"Well, well," one of them sneered. "Why don't you keep running? What's the matter out of tricks?"

Before Tianming could respond, the group chasing him arrived from behind. He now found himself trapped between two sets of enemies.

"Heh, you pests really don't know when to quit," Tianming spat. "You've chased your grandpa all the way here. What's next? Want me to set up another spirit array for you to enjoy?"

As he spoke, a jade talisman appeared in his hand.

The sight of the talisman caused his enemies both those blocking his path and those chasing him to involuntarily take a step back.

Tianming burst into laughter. "Come on, then! Don't be shy. If you're so eager to learn how this thing works, come and take it yourselves! Who knows? Maybe you'll get lucky and figure out how to make one."

False Diplomacy

A middle aged man, floating in midair, forced a stiff smile. He was a second grade Sovereign. "Sir, we mean no harm. We merely wish to invite you to stay in Chaotic City for a few days. You said you have companions why not wait for them to arrive before leaving together?"

"That's right," another Sovereign chimed in, his tone dripping with false sincerity. "Surely you've seen how hospitable we are during your half month stay in Chaotic City?"

Their feigned politeness would have fooled an outsider, but Tianming knew better. He sneered. "You lot really think I'm that naive? Spare me the 'no harm intended' nonsense. I might be new to the Great Thousand World, but I'm no idiot. Your petty schemes are as transparent as glass."

He held up the talisman. "Come on! You want this so badly? Stop wasting my time. Step forward and try your luck!"

The gathered experts hesitated. They had witnessed the devastating power of the jade talisman firsthand one spirit array had obliterated two sixth grade Sovereigns in an instant.

But this was Chaotic City, where the law of the jungle reigned supreme. A vulnerable lamb holding treasures was too tempting a target to ignore.

A Familiar Face

"Brother Xiao," a sultry voice rang out.

A woman emerged from the crowd, her figure as seductive as her tone. She was dressed modestly, yet her natural allure made her impossible to ignore. Her fair skin, stunning features, and impossibly long legs were enough to captivate any man.

It was Zeng Yaoyao, a woman who could command attention with just a glance.

Her presence immediately set Tianming on edge. His expression darkened, and he glared at her with unbridled hatred.

"You! How dare you show your face here?!" he growled.

Zeng Yaoyao giggled, covering her mouth with delicate fingers. "Brother Xiao, there's no need for such harsh words. You wound me so deeply. Doesn't it hurt your own heart to speak to me this way?"

Betrayal

"Hurt?" Tianming's voice dripped with venom. "If it weren't for you, I wouldn't have wasted that spirit array talisman to save your sorry hide! But you repaid me by leading these vermin to hunt me down, hoping to steal the method for crafting these talismans. You're nothing but a snake in the grass!"

He fixed her with an icy glare. "Zeng Yaoyao, mark my words. If I ever recover my strength, I'll annihilate your sect and leave no one alive!"

Yaoyao smirked, unbothered by his threats. "Brother Xiao, your anger is so... alluring. But let me tell you this: if gaining the knowledge of your spirit array talismans means sacrificing a few members of my sect, it's a price I'm more than willing to pay."

Her words sent a shiver down the spines of the Sovereigns standing near her. They all knew of her ruthless nature she would stop at nothing to achieve her goals.

In the Great Thousand World, beautiful appearances were never in short supply. If Zeng Yaoyao could obtain the method to craft spirit array jade talismans from Xiao Tianming, she could easily establish a sect far more powerful than her current one.

A Ruthless Proposition

Zeng Yaoyao chuckled softly, covering her mouth with her delicate hand. "Brother Xiao, there's no need to be angry. Faced with such an opportunity, who could possibly resist the temptation?"

Her gaze turned sharp, her voice dripping with venom. "As for you regaining your strength, let's not entertain fantasies. Without at least two more months, you're nothing more than a toothless tiger. No matter how fierce you act, you pose no real threat to me."

She spoke with such ease, her words showing how thoroughly she had evaluated Tianming's current situation.

In truth, Tianming had fallen into Zeng Yaoyao's trap due to his naivety. A woman who could thrive in Chaotic City a woman capable of standing against two sixth grade Sovereigns was no ordinary damsel in distress.

But Tianming, bewitched by her charms, failed to see the knife hidden behind her smile.

As the saying goes, "Even heroes can fall to the allure of beauty." For someone like Tianming, new to this treacherous world, meeting a seemingly kind and beautiful woman who showered him with affection was like encountering a pure and untainted lotus.

But men no matter how strong often harden their resolve only after seeing a woman's true colors. Until then, their hearts remain vulnerable, no matter how hard the rest of them might be.

Standing His Ground

On the ground, Tianming's face darkened as he glared at Zeng Yaoyao. He let out a cold snort. "A vile woman is a vile woman. No matter how much you try to explain yourself, you'll always be just that a vile woman."

He sneered, his grip tightening around the jade talisman in his hand. "Enough with the pointless chatter. You want the method to craft spirit array jade talismans? It's right here, on me. But if you want it, you'll have to kill me first!"

The moment those words left his lips, the expressions of everyone present shifted dramatically.

The treasure Tianming held was too enticing to ignore, but no one dared to make a move. They had no idea what level of array was inscribed within the jade talisman. The memory of the talisman that annihilated two sixth grade Sovereigns was still fresh in their minds.

Zeng Yaoyao's Next Move

Zeng Yaoyao's playful smile faded, replaced by a frosty glare. She stepped forward and spoke coldly. "Brother Xiao, we've shared a bond as fleeting lovers. It's not too late for you to reconsider."

Tianming let out a booming laugh. "Reconsider? Hah! A vile woman like you doesn't even deserve to dream!"

His hand clenched tighter around the talisman, ready to crush it at a moment's notice. Should the talisman activate, the eighth level array it contained would be enough to trap everyone here.

Unknown to his pursuers, Tianming had more than one jade talisman in his possession. His interspatial ring held a dozen of them, some gifted by Xiao Tiance, while others had been prepared by his father, Xiao Chun, and handed to him before they left the Dou Qi Continent.

A Painful Betrayal

Initially, Tianming had thought the talismans unnecessary. With five Dou Di experts in their group, along with Xiao Tiance's unerring leadership, what danger could they possibly encounter?

But fate had proven him wrong. Upon entering the spatial passage, a terrifying suction force had separated him from his companions. When he regained consciousness, he found himself alone in an unfamiliar land.

His meeting with Zeng Yaoyao had been entirely coincidental. In the beginning, he believed his charm had won her over, but he quickly realized that it was his unique qualities that had piqued her interest.

Their relationship had blossomed during their time together in Chaotic City. However, it didn't take long for Tianming to uncover Zeng Yaoyao's true nature.

When two sixth grade Sovereigns came to her sect seeking revenge, she had no chance of survival on her own. Though reluctant, Tianming used one of his jade talismans to save her, killing both Sovereigns in the process.

The Price of Power

Unfortunately, the battle had not gone unnoticed. News of his talisman's power spread quickly, drawing the greedy and desperate like moths to a flame.

As Tianming fought off waves of attackers, Zeng Yaoyao's true intentions became clear. She had witnessed him activate a second talisman, trapping over ten Sovereign grade experts and killing several of them.

Realizing the value of the talismans, she betrayed him, leading to his current plight.

Now, cornered and exhausted, Tianming felt nothing but contempt as he looked at Zeng Yaoyao.

The Arrival of the Blood Puppet Sect

"Fine, fine, fine," Zeng Yaoyao said, her voice laced with venom. She clapped her hands lightly, and moments later, the skies above darkened.

Black clouds gathered, carrying with them a stench of blood and decay that made even the most hardened Sovereigns uneasy.

"Damn it, Zeng Yaoyao! Did you seriously call in the Blood Puppet Sect?!"

"Why are those freaks here? With them involved, there'll be nothing left for us to take!"

Fear spread like wildfire among the Sovereigns. The Blood Puppet Sect was notorious throughout the Great Thousand World, and no one wanted to cross their path.

A Sinister Force

Boom!

A deafening noise reverberated as rows of blood red puppets emerged from the forest, their bodies emanating a foul stench of decay. The smell of blood grew thicker with every step they took.

Each puppet moved in unison, their footsteps heavy and synchronized, creating a thunderous rhythm that sent shivers down everyone's spine.

A Charismatic Leader

"Hahaha! Yaoyao, my darling, I've missed you!"

From behind the blood puppets came a loud, hearty laugh. A man stepped forward, his crimson robes stark against his blue hair and strikingly handsome features.

His aura radiated power he was a fourth grade Sovereign, and his presence was both alluring and terrifying.

His gaze was sharp and penetrating, as though it could see through to a person's very soul.

"Giggle~" Zeng Yaoyao's flirtatious laugh rang out. "Lan Yu, my dear Blood Puppet Sect young master, you never fail to keep your promises. Your arrival fills me with such joy!"
