Chapter 181: The Gap of the First Soul Ring, Part 7
Ye Wen's children were all born with an extraordinary natural soul power of 20 levels, a fact he had firmly instructed them to keep hidden. When Ye Tianshui summoned her spirit, her sweet, gentle demeanor transformed instantly. Sharp claws extended from her fingers, emitting an icy aura, while a blue white dragon scale appeared on her forehead. Her right eye, previously a soft blue, now glowed with a blue white dragon shaped mark. Ye Tianshui's figure grew slightly taller, exuding a cold and regal presence that seemed worlds away from the softness she showed just moments before.
"Ye Tianshui. Spirit: Ice Dragon, Spirit Rank 10. Pleased to meet you," she said politely, her aura imposing enough to put Tang San on immediate alert.
Yu Xiaogang also sensed something was amiss. Of all the clans on the Douluo Continent, none rivaled the Blue Lightning Tyrant Dragon Clan's expertise in dragon type spirits. Yet, there was something far more powerful about Ye Tianshui's Ice Dragon spirit that eluded his understanding. If he could only get closer and observe it in detail, perhaps he could uncover its secrets, but the presence of Ye Wen discouraged any such attempts. Realizing that Ye Wen likely held knowledge far beyond his own, Yu Xiaogang suppressed his curiosity.
Even more unsettling was the feeling of submission he detected from his own spirit, Luo Sanpao, when Ye Tianshui's Ice Dragon spirit was summoned. Despite nearing the strength of a Spirit Emperor, Yu Xiaogang couldn't help but feel dwarfed in the presence of this young girl's innate power. He swallowed hard, an idea flickering in his mind. Perhaps he could propose a marriage alliance between his family and Tianxing Academy. His nephew Tianheng was around the right age, and a union between such powerful dragon spirits would secure the Blue Lightning Tyrant Dragon Clan's influence for generations to come.
It was fortunate Ye Wen couldn't read minds. If he had, Yu Xiaogang would already be laid flat with a single strike for his audacity. A mere third rate clan with the nerve to propose a match with my daughter? Absurd! Besides, Tianshui is only six years old, you beast!
Meanwhile, the atmosphere between Tang San and Ye Tianshui grew increasingly tense as they faced off.
"First spirit ability Bind!"
Tang San had no qualms about using his spirit ability to make the first move, launching an aggressive offense right away.
Dense vines shot toward Ye Tianshui, attempting to ensnare her, but she sidestepped effortlessly, vanishing from Tang San's sight and reappearing behind him in a flash.
"She's fast!" Tang San was startled, quickly using Ghost Shadow Perplexing Track to avoid her sudden strike, realizing he could no longer afford to underestimate her.
As Tang San repositioned himself, he noticed that Ye Tianshui hadn't even activated her spirit ring. He knew it was nearly impossible to use a spirit ability without manifesting a ring. Irritation simmered within him as memories of past trials flashed before his eyes. Annoyed at her seeming indifference, he decided to hold nothing back, even if she was the daughter of the prestigious academy's dean.
With practiced finesse, he wielded the extended vine granted by his Bind ability as a makeshift whip, unleashing a flurry of attacks with rapid, snapping motions that created sharp sonic booms as he swung the vine through the air.
Yu Xiaogang's eyes widened in alarm as he watched Tang San's strikes. Is he out of his mind? This is just a friendly spar! What if he offends them? We could be in serious trouble!
Ye Tianshui, noting the relentless flurry of strikes, realized she had little room to evade. A faint purple glow emanated from her feet as her spirit ring finally appeared beneath her.
"First spirit ability Frozen Spirit Dragon Armor!"
Her body shimmered, her skin now covered in shimmering blue white scales and armored plating that protected her vital areas. Yu Xiaogang's jaw dropped. His clan's defining technique, the Dragon Transformation Secret Art, granted only partial dragon scales for defense, yet this young girl's first spirit ability had fully transformed her. If his clan couldn't secure such a powerful dragon spirit within their ranks, the clan's prominence would be in danger.
Tang San's vine lashed against Ye Tianshui's armor, but she absorbed each blow with little more than a grunt, as if completely unbothered.
"Is that really all you've got?" Her voice held a hint of disdain that only fueled Tang San's frustration.
Before Tang San could respond, he barely registered her vanishing once again before reappearing right in front of him.
"Flash Step Steadfast Style Dragon Strike!"
Her punch connected squarely with Tang San's abdomen, his face contorting with pain as he flew backward, his eyes widening with shock as red veins pulsed in his vision.
Tang Hao, watching from his hidden vantage point, nearly surged forward but quickly reconsidered when he saw the relaxed posture of Ye Wen. The humiliation today may be unbearable, Tang Hao seethed, but the time for revenge will come.
Ye Wen, meanwhile, observed with a satisfied expression. His daughter's progress was more than he could have hoped for.
"That's enough, kids," he said, stepping in to end the sparring session, "It seems you have more training to do, young man. Your teacher should have access to the foundational Steadfast techniques we've shared with the academy, so be sure to learn them if you're interested."
Ye Wen approached Tang San and extended a hand to help him up, but Tang San shook his head, attempting to rise on his own, his stomach still throbbing from the blow.
Ye Tianshui, her spirit armor dissipating, ran up to her father, a gleeful look on her face.
"Dad, did I do well? Was I amazing?"
"Yes, yes, my little Tianshui was perfect," Ye Wen replied with a smile, ruffling her hair.
