###A Little Fire on Stage
Charlotte Evans stepped onto the stage of the fourth round like she owned it—or at least like she'd rented the place and didn't care about getting her deposit back.
Her walk was steady, shoulders back, chin up. Maybe it was Serena's training, or maybe it was the fact that Charlotte who the hell she was. Either way, the stage lights didn't scare her.
What did scare her? Absolutely nothing.
Not even the voice that suddenly pierced through the audience like a badly-timed fire alarm.
"Why did you *dump* Alexander?! Did you cheat on him?!"
Charlotte blinked. Then she smiled—slow and lethal.
Her eyes locked onto the woman who'd asked the question. Early thirties, badly disguised botox, holding a glittery 'Team Hastings' sign like she was cheering at a royal wedding.
Charlotte leaned into the mic with the serenity of a lion about to pounce.
"Sweetheart," she said, "why don't you go ask Alexander when exactly we were ever together?"
