La Rocha froze. His gloved hand, poised elegantly on the tea tray like he was about to critique Damon's posture, began to tremble. His eyes widened, the pupils shrinking to pin-dots as he stared at Damon, as he had just witnessed a newborn duckling casually lift a mountain.
"You… you opened your soul sea?"
Damon leaned back into the couch and gave him a lazy grin. "Mm-hmm."
"How? How is it possible? You entered the Ascended realm already? But you were just… no, no, no way… absolutely not!" La Rocha's voice pitched up an octave, then another, until he was practically screeching. "This defies every foundational law! It is simply impossible!"
The tea tray clattered in his hands.
Aurora, who was happily curled up on Damon's lap, blinked and looked at Damon in a daze. From the twinkling stars in her eyes, it was clear that she was also aware of the soul sea. "Hubby, you really opened up your soul sea?"
"Mmm.. Hmmm…" Damon nodded. "It was nothing much."
