Aurora immediately forgot everything the moment the kitten touched her palms. Her eyes sparkled, and she hugged the little creature so tightly that the kitten's eyes squeezed out.
"Kyaaa! So cute! Hubby, look! Look at her tiny paws! LOOK AT HER LITTLE FACE!" Aurora squealed, rubbing her cheek against the kitten like a deranged maniac.
The kitten, meanwhile, stared at Damon over Aurora's shoulder with pure betrayal. You sold me out.
Damon didn't even try to defend himself. He simply dusted off his shirt and exhaled in relief. Aurora was too busy smothering the kitten to interrogate him further.
Or so he thought.
Because as she cuddled the kitten, her golden-black eyes slid back to him lazily before narrowing ever so slightly. "You still didn't answer my question."
Damon tensed. "What question?"
Aurora pointed at the silver strand stuck to his shirt. "Were you spending some time with Lirae?"
