Damon did not know when he finally fell asleep, but he instantly regretted doing so. As soon as he closed his eyes, all he could see was that contorted figure of that demon cackling loudly about the thread of fate.
"I will come back for you." Its shrill voice echoed in his mind as a vague pain spread somewhere deep inside him. Damon tossed and turned, unable to sleep and yet unable to wake up from the dream.
However, in the middle of this madness, suddenly an unexpected light shone brightly. Damon felt a nourishing warmth wrap around him. It was gentle and soft like a woman's loving embrace.
Damon pulled the warmth closer and hugged her tightly. He buried his face into the light, into that warm presence, and the terror ebbed away like a nightmare caught in morning sun. But there was still something bothering him.
