[Mancini Mansion, The Next Day]
The gates groaned open as the car pulled in, the tires crunching gravel under the weight of everything that had happened in the past twenty-four hours.
I carried Aria in my arms—carefully, like she was glass. Her leg was casted, her body still fragile, her breathing soft against my collarbone.
But she was here. She was alive. And for now, that was enough to keep my rage under control. Bianca rolled beside me as I stepped into the main hall, the staff immediately lining up with worried faces and lowered eyes. No one spoke. No one dared.
"Put extra pillows on her bed," I ordered coldly. "Bring the heating pad and her favorite plush. The bunny. Not the bear."
They scrambled like ants.
I took her to her room myself.
