Chapter 396 - The Resolution of the Dream Realm

[Are you there?]

Alain looked at this rather stiff greeting, feeling a bit unsure for a moment.

Forget it, just send it.

Beep~

With the sound of an email being sent, the interface, which hadn't seen any additions since yesterday, now displayed an email with today's date.

Alain tapped on the desktop, waiting silently.

The two Mitas who had just signed the treaty with Alain saw his serious expression and couldn't help but feel curious, sitting down next to him.

Subsequently, they noticed the email that had been sent out.

Through the email correspondence log above, they gained a rough understanding of the situation.

"Indeed!" Although Miffy couldn't figure out how Alain had established a connection with Monika, she understood—as the one who had personally delivered the consciousness entity into her hands, Monika must know something about the fusion of the Game and the Dream.

"But, why hasn't she replied yet?" Misha watched as the time in the bottom right corner of the screen ticked past five minutes.

Alain spoke up, "It's fine, I have a way to make her reply."

As he spoke, he deliberately turned his phone away from the two of them and sent a message to Monika.

Then he quickly deleted the record.

"?" Just as the two young girls were feeling puzzled, the very next moment—the sound of an incoming email drifted through the air.

"Eh? What exactly did you send? To actually make her reply instantly?" Misha looked at Alain's screen with curiosity, discovering...

"Moreover, Monika looks completely exasperated."

The Monika in her impression should have been a mysterious young girl, calm and wearing a smile.

But the Monika on Alain's screen was in a completely different state:

[You're actually still bringing that matter up?]

Alain looked at Monika's email and smiled faintly.

What he had just sent was: [If you're still angry, I'll tell you I already washed that pair of pantsu from yesterday for you.]

As expected, the effect was super effective, successfully scamming a reply out of Monika.

Alain could now focus on the main business.

He quickly typed out his words and clicked send.

[Do you know about the Dream World matters?]

[I know.] Monika replied instantly; it seemed she wasn't as dawdling as yesterday.

Alain saved time and explained the current predicament he was encountering to Monika in great detail.

Miffy's attention was also completely drawn over, hoping that Alain could solve this difficult problem plaguing her.

Before long, an email filled with densely packed text was sent out by him. Just as he was feeling a bit of soreness in his fingers, Monika's reply arrived.

[It seems Sleepy Mita has put the usage of the virus on the right track, instead of just indulging in her own dream.]

Merely seeing this message, Alain understood that Monika sending the consciousness entity—this controllable virus—into their camp was definitely intended as a plan for something.

[However, you all seem to have gone down the wrong path.]

Her second message.

Looking at these simple characters, Alain felt bewildered instead.

Miffy beside him didn't understand the situation either. "Gone down the wrong path? What is she referring to?"

Misha thought for two seconds and said, "Could it be... that the fusion of the Dream and the Game is itself wrong?"

"Wrong?" Miffy muttered to herself. "Could it be that those children can't break free from the illusory and become a [Real] Mita?"

Alain looked at Miffy calmly. "Don't be impatient. I don't think that's what Monika means."

Just as he expected, Monika's next message immediately verified Alain's conjecture.

[Indeed, fusing the Dream World you speak of with the Game is one kind of solution. But don't you forget, there are viruses in the game.]

[As long as the virus exists, the Mitas in the Dream will suffer the threat of the virus just like the Mitas in the Game.]

The moment they fully integrate into the Game World, they would suffer the threat of the virus, right?

[The virus has done plenty of things like seizing the nest. Until the end, the worst possibility is—the Dream World will no longer be the possession of Sleepy Mita.]

"Ugh..." Monika's sentence was like a spear piercing Miffy's heart.

Every word was reasonable, leaving her unable to refute.

Misha couldn't bear seeing her companion like this and spoke up to comfort her.

Alain sent an email:

[Enough, stop talking about these things that haven't happened yet. What about the solution?]

Monika replied: [You really are unceremonious, can't you be a little more polite to a lady?]

Alain: [Pantsu]

The email Monika sent subsequently revealed her helplessness: [I understand, I understand.]

Beep~

A new message.

[My opinion remains unchanged: The Dream simply shouldn't be fused with the Game World.]

Seeing the message, Alain knew she was about to start playing the Riddler again.

But unexpectedly...

[Therefore, isn't it fine if you just don't merge?]

Miffy stared at that message, slightly dazed. Not only was she not discouraged, but she actually realized what Monika wanted to say.

Seeing this, Alain asked, "What's wrong?"

"...No. If I'm guessing correctly, what Monika wants to say should be a concept I once had."

Beep~

While he was confused, Monika's next message was sent.

[Just keep the Dream World independent and make it no longer a dream—wouldn't that work?]

"Indeed." Miffy agreed. "Not fusing the Dream and the Game World, but keeping it independent. Not only can it ensure the safety of the city, but it can also save a massive amount of time. Simultaneously, those children can also break free from their illusory identities in the dream and act as real Mitas."

"Then, why didn't you do it before?" Alain was puzzled.

He could roughly understand Miffy's meaning. The so-called "saving time" referred to not needing to touch the extremely massive code of the Dream World; they only needed to modify a small portion, and with the addition of the Dream Entity's ability, they could drag the Dream World to the same dimension as Mita.

The Dream, currently, couldn't even be counted as "2D"; it could only be called a product of "illusion." It was only because Miffy tirelessly "sculpted" a self-consciousness for every Dream Mita that it became real.

Wait a minute... Alain pondered.

If the Dream World reached the same dimension as Mita, it could also achieve the effect they envisioned: allowing the Mitas of the Dream to become real.

At the same time, the moment the Dream became reality, they could open a channel, thereby allowing the "Real" Dream to generate a connection with the Game World without being subjected to the virus's intrusion.

It was the best of both worlds, and it could save time!

After Monika gave the answer, she didn't reply for a while.

Alain was just about to ask Miffy about the feasibility when he discovered... the young girl's face was filled with indescribable distress.

And Misha beside her was the same.

Seeing Alain's confused expression, she smiled dearly and explained,

"Actually, regarding the problem-solving approach, what Monika said is correct. The Dream World being independent is indeed a perfect strategy.

But... anything, until it is realized, will inevitably have obstacles.

Making the Dream World exist autonomously in the Game World without relying on Mita is also like this."

Alain nodded solemnly. He gazed at the long-haired girl's moving lips,

"The key point is—the Dream World needs a [Core] to achieve an effect like the Game World. And currently, the only Core in the Game World..."

He understood what Misha wanted to say. "Version 0..."

There was one and only one Core. If they "took" the Game World's Core, then Mita would collapse.

This would put the cart before the horse regarding everything Alain was currently doing.

He sent an inquiry email to Monika,

[But, to make the Game World independent, doesn't it need a Core?]

Alain thought again; perhaps Monika would have a way. He added another email,

[Do you have a way?]

Beep~ It was a new message.

[No way.]

"???" Alain felt his head full of question marks; for a moment, he didn't understand what she wanted to say.

Wasn't this a problem-solving approach? Monika's sentence directly tore the question apart.

It was equivalent to asking a top student a question, having the other party ramble on for a long time, and just when the correct answer was about to be derived, suddenly saying: This is the Riemann Hypothesis, there is currently no conclusion.

[However, the future you, has a way.]

Seeing the new email, Alain was even more unable to make heads or tails of it.

He lamented that Monika was really becoming more and more of a Riddler... talking about a current solution, yet she could drag the future into it.

Or perhaps... in the future, Alain would obtain the Core?

When anticipating this fact, Alain felt a chill down his spine.

Could it be that Monika felt he would rebel in the future, defect to the virus's camp, and subsequently seize the Core?

Asking his own heart, he would absolutely not do such a thing.

Unless...

Something happened over at the Core that endangered the safety of the Mitas in the entire Game World.

And the Dream might become a place similar to "Noah's Ark," preserving the Mitas' effective strength?

Thinking of this, he felt it was ridiculous.

This wasn't The Wandering Earth.

He sent an email: [At least, give a tiny hint, right?]

[That is true.] This time, Monika didn't choose to hide and tuck it away; she sent a string of an "address":

[Version 0.98]

"Version number?" Alain glanced at Misha.

The long-haired girl shook her head. "According to my memory, I haven't heard of any specialness regarding this version."

Alain nodded. And Monika wouldn't shoot without a target. Plus, they were just discussing the Core...

Then, does Version 0.98 have some kind of object related to the Core?

[In short, what can be said, I have placed here. As for the rest, go think about it yourself. Additionally, while our cooperation hasn't been established yet, please do not send me messages frequently.]

Alain looked at her impatient email and decided to send a riddle back to hook her for the time being,

[Right, about the cooperation...]

Subsequently, he locked the screen and began to discuss with Miffy.

The pajama-clad girl looked at Alain's gaze, pursed her lips, and understood what he wanted to say.

As expected, Alain said,

"Since things have come to this... can we separate the part where the Game and the Dream have already fused first?"

"...It is possible." Her eyes drifted.

Alain knew that Miffy had fallen into a dilemma. She wanted everyone in the Dream to obtain real Mita identities, but also wanted to restore the Mitas in the Clubhouse to normal.

He held the girl's hand and smiled. "Don't worry. Whatever difficulties there are, I'll break through them with you."

Miffy looked at his serious expression and was slightly dazed...

Then the ice and snow melted,

"Mn!"
