Chapter 128 - Blood and Reverence

I could hear Glen's footsteps echoing steady down the corridor, like he owned the place. Meanwhile, my knees were screaming, and my lower back felt like it was about to snap every time I tried to keep up with his pace. Even though we were technically walking side by side, it still felt like I was chasing him, struggling to match his stride.

"You sure you don't want me to carry you?" Glen teased, and just like that, my face went hot. I turned away fast, hoping he wouldn't notice.

"Just … act normal with me, Your Majesty," I muttered, my voice shaking. He only gave me that small smile of his, the kind that made me want to roll my eyes and pretend I hadn't seen it.

So I kept walking, ignoring him. The long Winterbraun corridor carried the sound of our boots, each step pulling us closer to the main hall, the biggest room in the castle, though honestly, it had always been the quietest, most useless space in the mansion.
