"Your Majesty, do you need anything else?" The butler, ever attentive, asked as he set down a steaming teapot and an assortment of snacks on the emperor's desk.
Since their return to the capital after leaving the western province, Glen had spent the entire day locked in his study. Meanwhile, Etien had gone back to Winterbraun, as he had always wanted. Glen had considered forcing him to stay, but ultimately, he couldn't bring himself to do it. As much as he wished he had the power to keep Etien in the capital, doing so would have been a grave mistake. The Duke would rage, and if pushed too far, he might just drag Glen off his throne altogether.
The mere thought of it made Glen chuckle. Etien, swinging his sword in righteous fury, simply because Glen had the nerve to meddle, it was almost too amusing to picture.
