He then flew Klee back and relayed everything to Jean…
Upon hearing such a harsh and dire truth, Jean's vision darkened; despair filled her face as she muttered in disbelief:
"Our battle here has already raged on for so long… those hidden Hydro Slimes must have long since come ashore…"
"The worst outcome is that by the time we rush back to Mondstadt, the city will already have fallen…"
"But no matter what, we still need to return and see what's become of Mondstadt!"
Su Yuan declared firmly:
"If there's still time, we must evacuate all the residents from Mondstadt and send them to safety!"
"Then, Su Yuan, I'll have to trouble you. You wield Anemo, and can travel quickly by flight. Please, go to Mondstadt and see what's happening there!" Jean said, forcing down her grief and unease before once again joining the battle against the monster horde.
And so, Su Yuan immediately set off, flying toward Mondstadt!

Flying westward, he soon arrived at the Statue of The Seven in Windrise…
Though he couldn't explain why, he felt a deep, inexplicable sense that he could still use the teleport waypoints…
And if he wanted to activate one, there was just a single small condition: there must be no other people nearby…
And so, Su Yuan arrived before the Statue of The Seven.
Closing his eyes, he stretched out his hand—and sure enough, it worked!
In an instant, carried by the ley line power of the teleport waypoint, Su Yuan successfully arrived inside Mondstadt!
Although he had prepared himself for the worst, he still feared that the city had already fallen to the invading Hydro Slimes, and that what awaited him would be nothing but ruins…
But to his relief, what he saw was not devastation.
Mondstadt looked perfectly normal, calm and peaceful, with no sign of intrusion at all.
Without delay, Su Yuan hurried to the few Knights of Favonius stationed in the city, delivering orders for an emergency evacuation.
Then, in haste, he once again used a teleport waypoint to head straight to the beaches where the Hydro Slimes were supposed to have landed, desperate to see the situation for himself.
After some time, Su Yuan arrived near that beach…
Yet the sight before him left him utterly baffled.
The sand was littered with Hydro Slime corpses, piled high enough that they almost formed small hills…
But neither he nor the Knights of Favonius had taken this location into account.
They hadn't stationed any forces here.
So how had all these Hydro Slimes been slain?
Don't tell me… they had some kind of moral awakening, couldn't bear to invade Mondstadt, and all decided to kill themselves?
Just as Su Yuan was drowning in confusion, a voice suddenly came from behind him:
"Su Yuan… long time no see."
"I hadn't even gone looking for you, but I didn't expect you to come looking for me first."
Hearing this familiar voice, Su Yuan spun around in shock, staring warily at the figure in the wide-brimmed hat before him.
He spoke gravely:
"Wanderer??? Why is it you???"
"What exactly are you trying to do??? Slandering and insulting Ellin, driving her into an Eerie state and endangering Mondstadt!"
"Abducting Albedo and Xiao, holding them hostage!!"
"Hey, hey, Su Yuan… You're always saying I've got a foul mouth and no sense, but you don't seem all that different yourself."
The Wanderer gave a faint smile, sounding helpless, as if amused:
"Even though killing those Eerie-corrupted Hydro Slimes wasn't exactly my way of saving Mondstadt, at the very least I did ease your burden, didn't I? I spared you a lot of casualties."
"And this is how you speak to the benefactor who lent you a hand? How rude. No manners at all."
"If your true intent wasn't to save Mondstadt, then why go after the Hydro Slimes???" Su Yuan asked, bewildered.
"What's your real, hidden purpose???"
"Isn't it obvious?" The Wanderer waved a hand dismissively, sounding both exasperated and self-assured.
"Of course it's to oppose Dottore!!"
"No matter what Dottore does, I'll always move against him!"
"Making sure his plans fail—watching the shock and frustration on his face—honestly, that's the most satisfying thing ever!"
Watching the Wanderer's smile, Su Yuan didn't know what to say…
He had briefly entertained the tiny possibility that the Wanderer might have a change of heart and reform, but the smile proved he had been wishful thinking.
"Su Yuan, let's make a deal…" the Wanderer said to Su Yuan with a faint smile.
"Strictly speaking, I currently hold three chips."
"Albedo, Xiao, and this time I saved you by killing those Hydro Slimes…"
"So — with those, would you be willing to die for me? Let me obtain the Descender's remains, reclaim the authority and power of a God, and seize the Irminsul — that ultimate weapon — once more?"
