Fang Yuan then took a look at the other two Immortal Gu in his possession.
He had Beauty Gu - its effect was that it could create wondrous illusions. At higher ranks, it could perhaps also bring them into reality. It could be considered to be a Phantom Path gu worm in that regard. Its effect was not very useful, but the main reason that Fang Yuan had wanted it was to potentially incorporate it into the Dollhouse to make it a true Rank 6 Immortal Gu House, or to use it as the core of killer moves.
However, he could do none of them right now. Beauty Gu was a component of the Embodiment of Humanity's Collective Will's plan. It did not need to be fed either so long as he didn't use it for at least three years, and given that its preferred food were Thousand Dragon Roses which were quite expensive he would simply place it aside for now.
As for Ambition Gu - it had a very powerful effect.
Unfortunately, it was next to useless to current Fang Yuan.
When given a bead of Immortal Essence, Immortal Ambition Gu could create mortal Ambition Gu.
Fang Yuan had never seen mortal Ambition Gu before, meaning it was likely that the only way to refine mortal Ambition Gu was through Immortal Ambition Gu.
Ambition Gu was mentioned in The Legends of Ren Zu where it had helped Ren Zu, Great Strength True Martial, and Carefree Wisdom Heart escape from the crystal walls they had found themselves trapped within.
From this one could somewhat deduce what Ambition Gu did.
Relic Gu were used to jump through minor realms, however, they could be of no help when bursting through major realms.
The same could be said for gu worms like the Liquor Worm, which lost their usefulness at the Peak Stage of each of their ranks.
The only thing that could truly help one break through a major realm was to find a rare talent-raising gu worm. For mortals this was near-impossible, though not so for Immortals. Even then though, Immortals could not give out such talent-raising gu worms to all of their descendants or clan members. Only their direct children could receive such benefits.
Ambition Gu was a potential solution for this problem.
Ambition Gu's effect was that it stopped the regeneration of the crystal walls of one's aperture for five days.
The greatest hurdle to breaking through a major realm was that the crystal walls could regenerate far faster than one could assault them, and one would be left at ground zero if they didn't break through quickly enough.
With this, the regenerative ability of the crystal walls was stunned for three days.
Three days during which the entirety of one's aptitude could be used to fully break through the crystal walls. Even those with trash-tier talents had hope of reaching Rank 5 this way.
Say that one was Rank 1 Peak Stage. Even if one had the trashiest of trash aptitudes, like Li Mei's or Yu Sai's 20%, one no longer needed to rely on their primeval essence to overcome their aperture's natural regeneration rate. In other words, that 20% was almost equivalent to 75% at Rank 1 Peak Stage for 3 days!
It was even better with higher ranking Ambition Gu considering the gap in aptitude it could bridge.
True, one would be left with the same amount of low aptitude and couldn't rival someone who had higher talent at the same level as them - but just advancing a major realm, even if one didn't get a higher aptitude represented a massive increase in one's fighting strength!
And naturally, although those with less talent could greatly benefit from this, those who already had a significantly high aptitude would benefit even further - if someone like Fang Zheng had had these gu worms back when he had A-grade aptitude, he would've been able to break through a major realm in a matter of hours!
3 days was not that long though - starting at around Rank 3 or Rank 4 it would still be impossible for those with very low talents to break through. However, at that point, one could simply use them once again to stun their aperture once more.
Each mortal Ambition Gu was a consumable gu worm, but that was to Fang Yuan's advantage if he intended to sell them on Yellow Treasure Heaven. As the sole producer, being the only owner of an Immortal Ambition Gu, he naturally could profit far more if people could not stash away these gu worms and use them over and over.
He fed Ambition Gu a bead of Grape Green Immortal Essence.
It swelled up after swallowing the Grape Green Immortal Essence, and spat out numerous gu worms into his aperture.
10 Rank 5 Ambition Gu.
100 Rank 4 Ambition Gu.
1,000 Rank 3 Ambition Gu.
10,000 Rank 2 Ambition Gu.
100,000 Rank 1 Ambition Gu.
They all flooded his aperture. Each of them was in the form of a flame, with Rank 1 Ambition Gu looking like the tiniest of embers while the Rank 5 Ambition Gu was as big as a campfire. They did not fluctuate in appearance like Rank 6 Ambition Gu.
If Fang Yuan had wanted to develop the Gu Yue Clan, this would've been an excellent way to do so. With this, everyone in the clan could reach Rank 3 at the very least! Rank 3, which was considered to be an elder in most ordinary clans, would be nothing but ordinary in the Gu Yue Clan, with those who got to Rank 5 being the true elders! A village nurtured with Ambition Gu could easily rival any of the Ten Ancient Sects in terms of mortal members.
How many Gu Masters had been stuck at a major realm, geniuses unable to progress forward because they had been caged by the crystal walls of their apertures? Much like how Ambition Gu had freed Ren Zu however, Ambition Gu could be used to free one from these shackles - to free one from the shackles that fate placed upon them!
Human Path methods were without a doubt extremely useful especially when it came to nurturing a sect or a clan.
Technically, Bone-Flesh Unity Gu would've been a bit more useful as it could help anyone at minor realms as well. However, beyond Rank 4 it could not help and it was also difficult for Fang Yuan to produce en-masse with his current methods. He would need to gather a large number of related people, ensure they were in sync with each other, healing path gu worms, etc. It was not impossible but would cost far too much.
Ambition Gu, however, could meet the needs of an entire village and more with a single bead of Grape Green Immortal Essence.
The thing was that Fang Yuan cared nothing for his fellow villagers. He had some uses he could still extract from them in the events that were to come. However, that was not sincere attachment to them or a wish for them to do well - it was just enough that wiping them off the map was more trouble than it was worth.
Fang Yuan did have one doubt regarding Ambition Gu's effect, however.
What was Rank 5 Ambition Gu supposed to be used for?
Breaking the walls of one's crystal aperture at Rank 5 Peak Stage was not hard; it could be done almost instantaneously. That was because it was the ascension that followed that was difficult.
As such, Rank 5 Ambition Gu could be said to be useless.
But that couldn't be the case - there were no useless gu worms, only useless Gu Masters!
That meant that it must have some other usage, Fang Yuan realized. Especially given he was only given 10 after using up an entire bead of Grape Green Immortal Essence. It seemed that it was quite valuable for some reason.
If anything though, he could use it in the refinement of Human Path gu worms. It might even be possible to use them to reverse-refine several lower-ranked Human Path gu worms.
That was to say nothing of killer moves.
With that said, however, Rank 6 Ambition Gu was certainly less useful than either the Spring Autumn Cicada or Dreams of Love and Happiness Gu.
It only needed Human Qi as its food source, making it easy enough to feed. That at least put it one place above Beauty Gu.
Four Immortal gu worms - if one did not include Rank 6 Integration Gu in the mix.
That was more than Fang Yuan would've ever imagined holding in his previous life!
