A notification popped up in Fang Yuan's mind even as he accepted everyone's congratulations.
Main Mission accomplished!
Congratulations! You have become clan head and will get five Human Path dao marks every single day that you continue to be clan head.
There are some requirements in order to still be considered clan head, however.
For one, the clan itself must exist, and the population of Gu Yue clansmen must be at least3,000 or higher.
Secondly, the host must continue to perform his duties as Clan Head, with the exception of a few emergencies that might make it difficult for him to continue with or require deferment of the same.
Thirdly, the host must strive to create a safe and secure environment for the rest of the clan to grow or endeavor for the same as much as possible.
Fang Yuan frowned slightly. There was no such requirement when he had become class president or a clan Elder.
Then again, their reward was much higher- seven times the amount of dao marks he was getting before. He could, in a single month, get as many dao marks as one would normally get from an earthly tribulation.
One could not consider that to be a small amount. However, it was clear that the system wanted him to take an active role as clan head and not merely exploit the clan for all of its resources and then bail after he had finished extracting them.
'What are all of these restrictions, system? Aren't you being too shameless- offering me a reward and then adding in terms and conditions afterwards?'
System is simply setting up restrictions. If the host believes the rewards are not adequate, the host is free to do whatsoever the host wishes.
Fang Yuan sighed inwardly. The rewards were indeed great- which is why he would have to put up with things for the moment.
That didn't mean Fang Yuan wasn't going to try milking the clan for all it was worth, though.
Fang Yuan, now that he was clan head, had access to multiple things that he didn't before.
For one, he could choose to borrow almost any gu worm or gu worm recipe within the clan storage without even having to pay any contribution points - with certain small restrictions, though even those were negligible.
Of course, even with his increased wealth as clan head, he could not feed so many gu worms by himself.
The reason why he wanted access to many of these gu worms was for the future. The Crimsonhoof Deer would not reach Rank 4 for a while, even with the help of Rank 3 Beast Mutation Gu, and so it would not have many Rank 4 or even Rank 3 Blood Path Gu worms on it by the time that Fang Yuan needed it.
However, there were many gu worms and resources for refinement in the clan's underground storage.
Fang Yuan's experience as a Grandmaster in the Blood Path allowed him to use these resources to recreate some of the Blood Path Gu worms he had made during his previous life. There was a limit to this, of course.
Despite all of his efforts, he was only able to create and/or obtain a total of fourteen Blood Path gu worms. Many of them were only Rank 1 or 2, with only six of them being Rank 3 or higher.
However, even if they were weak individually, they could create an extraordinarily powerful Blood Path mortal killer move when combined.
Fang Yuan was basing all of this on a killer move that he had created in his past life as a Blood Path Gu Immortal, though he had to make many modifications given the lack of Gu worms. It also required some testing, though thanks to the simplicity of working with only a few gu worms as compared to hundreds, he succeeded relatively easily.
The main problem, of course, was the fact that Fang Yuan did not have the required primal essence to use so many gu worms at once!
That was why his plan for the future relied upon killing the first generation Gu Yue and gaining access to that drop of green grape immortal essence that the system had promised him.
Fang Yuan could, with some experimentation, modify these gu worms to create a small mortal Gu House that could use that bead of immortal essence so that it could be used over and over without limit.
It was not possible for Fang Yuan to use foreign immortal essence directly- but that was the benefit of Gu Houses. They could take the immortal essence of multiple people without any issues.
Gu houses could be considered to be similar to killer moves in the fact that they used multiple gu worms, however, Gu Houses were far less flexible when it came to modifying them. That was why they had their downsides as well as upsides. Fang Yuan had not attempted to create one before. Lack of resources was only one of the reasons why, but the main reason was that he wouldn't have had enough primeval essence to be able to use one.
During the time that he had been the Supreme Elder of the Blood Wing Demon Sect, he had attempted to use his knowledge to create a Gu House that might give his disciples an edge during combat. His creation at the time had involved about sixty mortal gu worms- which was by no means huge by the standards of Gu Houses, but even that proved impossible for the other members of his sect, who were all mortal, to use for longer than a two breaths of time.
It was just that the demand placed on one's primeval essence in order to use a gu house was immense- there was no way that a mortal could possibly sustain it. It was only when one turned immortal- and had the equivalent of infinite primeval essence when speaking of mortal gu worms, that one could begin using them.
The Gu House in question was too weak for his own usage, and Fang Yuan had eventually abandoned it, but it served as good experience for his current endeavor in creating a much smaller one.
Aside from attempting to formulate this Blood Path Gu House, Fang Yuan also started to refine the Hope Gu located in the underground cavern. He could now leave and visit whenever he wanted, and with the help of Integration Gu and some trial and error, he was able to advance Hope Gu to Rank 2 at first and then Rank 3.
He had also thought of another killer move which he could use with his primal essence, which involved the use of Integration Gu, Hope Gu, and a Blood Path Gu worm- as well as modifying the killer move that he had used during the dream realm involving the Teng Clan.
While it was well and good to have a plan to try and deal with Lord Sky Crane, he first needed to figure out a way to deal with first gen Gu Yue.
'A pity that I cannot have access to his gu worms yet,' Fang Yuan thought. Those Blood Path gu worms could've been helpful in constructing an even bigger gu house, but there was no way that he would be able to do so in the middle of a fight.
He thought of sneaking into the Blood River Graveyard, but then dismissed that idea. He didn't actually have first gen Gu Yue's blessing, after all, and that would just be courting death at this point.
