While bickering with Orion, Rhaëlya didn't forget to release the sleeping gas she has developed inside the academy.
All of her inventions and creations along with other modern tools and tech were inside her space. Ready to be used at a thought.
Which made it really convenient, she also had some ingredients to make some simple mana amplifiers, though anything more advanced would require Ariel's system help and currency. Which she still doesn't know how to get by the way.
The gas took immediate effect and the already sleeping beastfolks inside the cave fell into an even deeper sleep.
Rhaëlya immediately started working, not wanting to waste any minute.
But unknowingly to her, another beast, one with blood red eyes, had also fallen asleep as he was too close to the cave and also because he wanted to smell the thing that she released through her hands.

In another cave, there on the rough and cold floor, lay a beautiful beastwoman.
Her long, cold silver hair scattered below her weight. Her eyes were closed yet her expression serene, she was asleep.
Beside her lay twenty unhached eggs, likely her children.
And right above her stood a snake beastman, his hair as dark as coal while his eyes shimmered a cold shade of blue, he was watching her sleep.
Right. She was sleeping. Only sleeping.
The snakeman thought to himself.
And right behind him stood another beastman, his hair had a similar shade of black as the beastman with blue eyes except that he had a streak of silver parting on both sides of his head from the top of his head. And his eyes were a shimmering green.
Crypt.
He didn't know why he had found himself in the past, before he had hatched.
But he figured that this was a dream, after all, he couldn't touch anything around him or speak at all.
He knows because he tried killing the beastman standing in front of him right now, Alvaro. His father.
The one whom he watched kill his mother right in front of him as he struggled to break out of his shell.
Curse his physique for being able to see and remember everything, even from when he was in his egg.
The woman lying on the ground, looking asleep, was Adriana. His mother.
With her silver hair and emerald eyes along with outstanding beauty, he had inherited most of her traits. Except that he still had his father's hair and beast type.
He was a snake, like his father while she was a tetra chameleon. A chameleon species above all other chameleon species.
Her unique colours added to her rarity and beauty.
Yet his father had destroyed her.
Because she wanted to leave. His father had made a mistake, and his mother didn't forgive him for it.
A normal and loving male would've let his female leave or rip his heart out in order to offer it to her while begging for forgiveness.
But his father was a snake. And snakes' nature is to be selfish and greedy.
And overall, envious.
His father couldn't stand the thought of his spouse leaving him and going to live with other males, thus in a fit of anger, he bit his spouse and released almost all of the venom in his glands inside her blood.
His venom was extremely potent as he was a king.
Thus his mother died almost instantly, her insides liquifying in seconds.
He'd watched it all happen while he couldn't do anything. Although he had already fully developed by then, his body still needed some nutrients to he able to move.
And even so, he would've been too weak against his fully adult father anyway.
Thus he simply watches and grieved in silence. The memories he had inherited from his father made him love his mother, not as a mate, but as a mother. He knew she would've been a great mother to him.
Crypt thought as he looked at the now decomposed body of Adriana. Alvaro was still curled up around her cold carcass.
He stopped eating and drinking moons ago. But unfortunately for him, as snakes hibernate, he still has a long way to go before dying.
Crypt scoffed while watching that pathetic beast mourn.
If he loved her so much, why did he do it?
Then Alvaro looked straight at him. Which was weird, because he couldn't see him moments ago.
"You're my and Adriana's son, aren't you?" He asked, his voice cracked by the lack of water. It's been so long since he'd heard this agitating voice.
Crypt kept quiet. Simply watching.
"You are. You have her eyes and a few strands of silver hair. Your face looks just like hers." Alvaro added, his voice soft.
Crypt felt his stomach churn. He didn't wish to remember this. His father had always "favoured" him as he looked the most like his mother.
Alvaro uncoiled from Adriana's carcass before advancing with a long, damaged tail towards Crypt, "You've grown a lot since we've last seen each other." He added, with his hand now cupping Crypt's face.
Crypt wanted to move away, to take Alvaro's claws off of his face but he couldn't move.
Alvaro, with his now dull blue eyes, stared at him, "Well, you wanted to know why I've done that even though I loved her?" He asked in a grating voice, his tone low and mocking while a butter smirk played on his lips.
Crypt still kept his mouth shut.

In the waking world, Rhaëlya was fixing up leaks while instructing Orion and Ariel to make something in order to block the cold from getting in.
"You know, you're supposed to do this stuff alone!" Argued Orion while her little tentacles kept moving about in order to make the perfect gem that transforms cold into heat.
Rhaëlya tinkered with the beads provided by Ariel, beads that apparently help her find the issues with her cave, "And I am doing it myself. Haven't I requested you to make those gems? Didn't I give you the instructions on how to make them?"
[....She did.] Ariel popped up while behind the screen, where neither his host nor Orion could see, he was writing down the instructions. Planning on trying to make one himself after this.
