Chapter 184 - Chapter 184: Ordinary, Yet Also Heroes

Before the criminals could respond, purple light already flickered wildly in his eyes, dazzling and boundless.

Ah!The criminals' agonized screams echoed, sending chills down the spine of those who heard.

"Thank you!" Mo Lan expressed her gratitude to Gu You.

"No need to thank me. I should be the one thanking you, for letting me know that even in ordinary posts, heroes still advance."

"But don't make it sound so grand." Mo Lan smiled gently. As a conductor of the spirit conduction train, these were their duties. Still, receiving praise naturally made her a bit proud.

It wasn't just because Mo Lan was brave facing the criminals; it was also because she was a congressman's daughter. Every Federation congressman had helped him in some way or another. Even if Mo Lan were a coward today, he would still step in.

...

"I got you a one-month unlimited pass for all spirit conduction high-speed trains across the Alliance. With this pass, you can board any high-speed train anytime."

Gu You accepted it and thanked him.

Arriving in Tiandou City, Gu You's first stop was the Forging Association, where there would surely be someone strong enough to match him.

But just after Gu You left the train, his glorious deeds had already spread far and wide.

"Who exactly is that kid?" Mo Wu's mood had been a rollercoaster today. As a high-ranking official in Tiandou City and one of the Federation congressmen, he held great power.

When he got the news that his daughter's train had been hijacked, he nearly fainted.

He had been busy all his life and only had one daughter, whom he treasured like a jewel.

There had been terrorist attacks on trains before, which ended in total destruction and huge casualties. Because of this, he had discussed with his daughter, urging her to quit the job, but Mo Lan had refused with a smile.

He never imagined such a thing would happen to his daughter so soon.

Bad news kept coming, especially that Mo Lan had cut off the train and stayed in the carriage with the criminals.

There were cluster bombs and spirit conduction cannons. The reports were bleak. According to military analysis, Mo Lan's chance of survival was slim. Even deploying powerful soul masters and mechas, rescuing her from that sealed carriage was very difficult. Unless a soul master with special abilities could be summoned, but where could one be found within such a short hour?

While Mo Wu was fretting, suddenly the crisis was resolved — Mo Lan was unharmed.

Later, when he heard she had been saved by a young boy, he found it hard to believe. But with his vast resources, he investigated and discovered the boy was from Shrek Academy.

He wanted to thank the boy who saved his daughter but learned the boy had already left — a true good deed done without seeking fame.

While frustrated and ordering his men to find the boy, a stranger appeared before him.

"Who are you?" Mo Wu was surprised. The security was greatly increased, yet this person had appeared.

The young man's face was cold and handsome, with a special aura. "Don't look for him."

Mo Wu's heart stirred. "Shrek Academy?"

"I'm sort of his half-teacher," Wu Changkong said calmly.

Mo Wu breathed a sigh of relief. No wonder. Shrek Academy's teachers were all strong; it made sense they could get in.

"Senior, I must repay this debt," Mo Wu stubbornly insisted.

Wu Changkong shook his head and was about to leave, then suddenly stopped and swiftly grabbed at Mo Wu.

"What are you doing?" Mo Wu asked in panic. He wasn't a soul master and couldn't avoid Wu Changkong's grasp.

A powerful force moved him.

"Come out!" Wu Changkong's eyes gleamed coldly as he looked toward a corner of the room.

"No wonder you're from Shrek Academy." A low, hoarse voice sounded. From the dark corner, a figure slowly appeared.

This person was cloaked in a black hooded robe, holding a staff in his right hand. When Mo Wu saw him, a chill ran through his body as if plunged into an ice cellar. The entire room grew eerie.

"I wanted to see who ruined our plans. Didn't expect to meet the congressman and you annoying Shrek folks. Since that's the case, I'll kill you first, then take the congressman away. That should make it easier to achieve our goal."

Rings of soul power lit up beneath him. His soul rings looked very different from normal soul masters'. They didn't appear all at once but floated out like smoke. Two yellow, two purple, three black — seven soul rings in total. Surrounding them was a faint green mist.

"Evil soul master!" Wu Changkong's heart tightened, pushing Mo Wu back.

Mo Wu didn't move. As a congressman, he had strong psychological resilience. He knew the safest place was by the Shrek Academy teacher. If the teacher couldn't handle the evil soul master, then there was nowhere for him to escape.

"Call me, the Plague Messenger." The evil soul master raised his staff. A soul ring on his body flashed, and a large green mist surged out, filling the room.

Wu Changkong snorted coldly. His soul rings lit up, and a chilling aura spread from him. Two yellow, two purple, three black — seven soul rings appeared. The Frost Sword leapt into his hand.

The sword tip glinted coldly, instantly appearing before the opponent's chest.

The Plague Messenger trembled when he saw the seven soul rings rising on Wu Changkong, but he reacted quickly, crossing his staff before him. The top shone like a green crystal, blocking the sword light.

"Ding!" With a crisp sound, the cold light shattered into countless sword threads — the Frost Scars.

Reaching the seven-ring Soul Saint realm, Wu Changkong's power surged again. He had spent half a year cultivating beyond teaching, greatly increasing his strength.

The Frost Scars not only enveloped the opponent but also released cold that greatly slowed the plague's spread.

"Good!" The Plague Messenger growled, suddenly crouching. A burst of strong green light exploded from him, expanding like smoke. Even Wu Changkong's cold couldn't hold it back.

If it were just Wu Changkong alone, he could shield himself with soul power and charge through to attack. But Mo Wu was also here — an ordinary man. If infected by a seven-ring evil soul master skilled in plague, he might perish, even a deity couldn't save him…
