Cecilia was taken aback for a moment.
"Is Aunt Rainy sick?"
Alex denied it.
"No, that's not it..."
He wanted to tell Cecilia what happened to Rainy at the hospital today, but he thought his explanation might not be complete enough. It was better for his mom to go and ask Rainy directly.
"It seems Aunt Rainy encountered something tricky. Mom, if you have time, please check on her."
Cecilia frowned.
Someone as carefree as Rainy was facing some trouble, and at a hospital, nonetheless…
Early the next morning, after dropping Alex off at kindergarten, Cecilia recalled what he said last night. She went straight to the hotel where Rainy stayed after returning to the country.
She knocked on the door, only to be met with a Rainy who had eyes swollen like walnuts—it was obvious she had cried all night.
Cecilia was startled and quickly asked, "What happened? What's going on?"
