[Rito and the tangled fate]
The sky still carried the memory of the night before, a faded blue dissolving slowly among lazy clouds. Rito walked down the street toward school, his backpack swinging from side to side, trying to ignore the strange feeling that had been with him since breakfast.
He remembered Zastin's words clearly.
"The king is coming."
Thump… thump… thump. His heart beat faster just thinking about it. Meeting Gid Lucione Deviluke, emperor of the universe, potential father-in-law, and, to top it off, the most feared being in the galaxy. Anyone else would faint just at the sound of his name. But Rito took a deep breath, and for the first time in his life, he didn't feel panic—only a good kind of chill, like facing a game you know you can't afford to lose.
— Relax, Rito… you've already faced angels, demons, and even dragons. — he muttered to himself, adjusting his school tie. — What could possibly go wrong now?
WHAM! — a stray baseball almost smashed his face.
— Hey, sorry about that! — shouted a boy from the club, waving from the field.
Rito forced a crooked smile, barely dodging.
— …Okay, forget what I just said.
Arriving at school, the atmosphere was the usual: noise, crowded halls, whispers about who was with whom. But, as always, his life didn't allow monotony.
Saki Tenjōin was already waiting for him at the door, with that venomous smile, like a cat ready to toy with the mouse.
— Good morning, Yuuki Rito. — she sang, fixing her hair. — Or should I say… the devil's future son-in-law?
— Huh?! — Rito stumbled over his own feet, almost kissing the floor. — Where did you hear that?!
Saki laughed, that irritating laugh that rang like a cracked glass bell.
— Oh, don't worry. I just like teasing.
And, like inseparable shadows, Rin and Aya stood behind her, sharp eyes ready to hold back anyone who dared defy their "queen."
Before Rito could defend himself, Yui Kotegawa appeared, running, books pressed against her chest.
— Saki, stop bothering others this early! — she scolded, voice loaded with indignation.
That's when the trap was sprung. With a snap of her fingers, Saki gave the order. Fwip! Ropes appeared out of nowhere, wrapping around Yui like treacherous snakes.
— Hey! What is this?! — Yui struggled, but the more she moved, the tighter the ropes got. — Mmmph…!
Her involuntary moans echoed through the hallway, drawing gasps and mischievous looks from the students. Rito, red to the roots of his hair, didn't know where to look.
— This isn't right, Saki! — he shouted, rushing to Yui.
That's when Lala burst in, flying with her latest gadget: a winged scissor that gleamed as if alive.
— Don't worry, Yui-chan! I'll fix this! — she cried cheerfully.
SNAP! — the scissor cut through the ropes in one strike… and Yui's uniform as well.
— KYAAAA! — Yui shrieked, covering herself as best she could, her face blazing.
Rito, instinctively, threw himself in front of her to block the view from everyone else.
— D-don't look! — he yelled, arms spread wide.
BONK! — Yui's response was a headbutt straight to his face.
— You pervert! — she shouted, even as her ears turned red.
Rito toppled backward, rubbing his nose. But for him, it didn't hurt as much—his body wasn't so fragile anymore. Yui, on the other hand, had her forehead throbbing.
— Ow… ow ow ow… — she whimpered, massaging her head.
The classmates laughed; it turned into yet another chaotic episode in Rito Yuuki's so-called "normal" day.
— What a morning, huh? — Rito muttered, trying to escape the mess. But destiny had other plans.
BAM! — a thud knocked him down suddenly. He landed flat on the floor, eyes wide.
When he realized, he was… exactly between Run's legs.
Dead silence.
His eyes rose slowly, and there it was: her striped panties, right in front of him.
— KYAAAAAAA! — Run's scream echoed through the hallways, so sharp it felt like glass shattering.
Rito shot up like a spring, hands flailing like helicopter blades.
— I-it's not what it looks like! I swear!!!
Run covered her face, swinging between fury and shame, while classmates burst into laughter.
Outside the classroom, Rito took a deep breath, trying to calm down.
"One day I'll manage to get through twenty-four hours without falling into impossible situations…" he thought, though he didn't believe it himself.
The sky seemed to laugh with him, clearing as if the universe conspired to never let his life be simple.
And, high above, on the school's rooftop, the blonde figure watched. Silent, with a mysterious little smile on her lips. The wind played with her golden hair as if they were flames dancing under the sun.
A sign.
Something big was coming.
Meanwhile, in another corner of the galaxy, Gid Lucione Deviluke sailed through space aboard a colossal ship. The memory of his last battle still echoed like thunder across the cosmos—the smoking crater, the fallen warriors, the dust suspended in the void.
His eyes gleamed like stars about to explode.
— Let's see… this Yuuki Rito. — he murmured, voice dripping with irony. — I want to see with my own eyes who dares to be my daughter's fiancé.
And the universe, silent, seemed to hold its breath.
On Earth, the school bell rang: ring-ring-ring!
— Another day… — Rito sighed, adjusting his backpack.
But deep down, he knew. This wasn't just "another day." It was the prelude to something bigger.
And, even without saying it out loud, a strange flame burned inside him. A confidence he barely recognized, but that grew stronger every time he remembered: he wasn't just Yuuki Rito.
He was The Presence.
And when destiny decided to knock at his door—or throw him between legs, bats, or ropes—he'd be ready to answer.
